Expected to happen:
switcing song works.

What happened:
SIGSEGV when switching song with the visualization plugins installed (even when
not in visualization mode).

I have not used the Report a bug feature of rhythmbox because it segfault too
(I have apport-gtk installed). Even with the visualization plugin disabled
(while everything else works well in this use case).

[Bug 310540] [NEW] usability problems in case of multiple workspaces are in use

2008-12-22 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Public bug reported:

I'm using multiple workspaces (with hot keys ALT-F1...F8 to have similar
feeling I had on text consoles before) with Intrepid now (but I had this
problem before as well), without compiz. It seems metacity has got some
usability problems in case of multiple workspaces, sometimes I have to
hunt for windows. If a new window appears somewhere ALT-TAB does not
work anymore for a single key press, so I have to hunt for the the new
window on each workspaces first, if it is not considered as new window
anymore, I can use the desktop without problems then. Other thing: for
example with pidgin, if I have the buddy list window open on a workspace
I can't get it on other workspaces, first I have to hunt (again) for the
pidgin window through the workspaces, I have to close it there (with
clicking on the pidgin icon at the notification area), then I have to
switch to a new workspace where I would like to have it, and I can open
that there then with clicking on the icon at the notification area
again. I have some softwares which also has this problem, I am not sure
it's the problem of the window manager or these softwares, also I am not
sure it can be considered as a bug either, but I think it's a serious
usability problem and it makes using the desktop with multiple
workspaces a bit hard. Please notice me, if I missed something and it's
my fault (eg: some settings are missing or such). Thank you very much in
advance.

[Bug 310543] [NEW] selecting 'extract' in the file dialog does not respond when 'selected files' is selected

[Bug 235250] Re: Pidgin-Evolution integration flaky

2008-12-22 Thread J . Pablo Fernández
Yes, those two seems related. The first one
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340390 points to a field
mismatch (icq vs aim), which I would say it's not the real problem since
it happens to me using only jabber. The second one,
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499584, is right on target.
Even worst than not checking for current contact is the fact that the
newly created contacts as soon as modified become unsynced and yet
another contact is created.

believe people watching this bug in launchpad should also add comments

[Bug 278261] Re: two xscreens - gnome panel crashes

2008-12-22 Thread codedread
I'm not sure if this will help, but I'm experiencing something eerily
similar. I'm on Hardy using Gnome. I have two screens. I'm working on
a Qt 4.5 app. When I launch the app on the first screen, things at first
seem ok. However, if I move the window (even a couple pixels), then
Gnome tries to reposition the window offsetting the window a couple
pixels, then tries to do it again and again and the entire system crawls
to a near halt.

I was watching processes (top) and it went something like this:

- gnome-panel 77%
- Xorg 40%
- metacity ~20%
- my app ~20%

Btw, I have two AMD CPUs.

[Bug 33214] Re: gnome-screensaver restores default color-correction settings

2008-12-22 Thread Lars Tore Gustavsen
This bug is not yet fixed in ubuntu, even in Ubuntu 9.04 alpha 2.
I tested this today. It is however fixed in gnome-screensaver 0.25. Ubuntu
9.04 has gnome-screensaver 0.24.

My test is done with argyllcms. Se attached txt file.

[Bug 202089]

2008-12-22 Thread hyperair
The 01PulseAudio sleep hook for pm-utils included in pulseaudio
0.9.10-2ubuntu9.2 does not work if PulseAudio was not started using the
full path. In my case, I started PulseAudio manually, after accidentally
killing it, using this command: pulseaudio -D. The sleep hook fails to
do its job. Specifically, the get_pulse_users() function does not return
my username, eventhough pulseaudio is running under my username, because
it searches the output of ps aux for /usr/bin/pulseaudio -D as
opposed to just pulseaudio -D or pulseaudio

2008-12-22 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 310610] [NEW] show cover images embedded in audio streams if there are no visualisations

Tim Müller of Collabora sent the attached patch to show cover images

was requested by the BBC in order to display podcast logos from their

[Bug 124326] Re: Shrinking to notification area should have its own title bar button

2008-12-22 Thread Endolith
Was there ever a discussion on the Gnome list about this?

The difference between panel applets and notification area icons is
really irrelevant to this discussion.

The point is that apps have an iconified functionality that is
fundamentally different from closed and minimized functionality, and
that there is no standard way to get the app into this state from the
window itself, resulting in abuse of the standard window management
buttons.

[Bug 310630] [NEW] Enabling desktop effects tries to install restricted driver

2008-12-22 Thread Nikolaus Rath
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I am using Intrepid. When I change the desktop effects from none to
Normal or Extra, the system tries to automatically install the
restricted ATI drivers. I does not ask me about it, it does not warn me
about it, it just proceeds.

I think there is no connection between desktop effects and using a
restricted driver, so there should at least be a warning that the system
is about to do something totally unrelated.

Moreover, on my Dell Inspiron 1526, the desktop effects only work *with*
the open source driver. So in order to enable desktop effects, I have to
click Cancel fast enough to actually get the effects enabled.

[Bug 287542] Re: vinagre crash with BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) when I try to connect to VNC server

2008-12-22 Thread Nelson Elhage
I get the same failure with all three of vinagre, gvncviewer, and
gtkvncviewer, so I suspect this is a libgtk-vnc bug.

`aptititude reinstall libgtk-vnc-1.0-0` doesn't help.

I'm trying to run it under gdb to break on gdk_x_error, but I can't find
that symbol either in in vinagre (rebuilt with debug symbols) or in any
library in /usr/lib/ (and just asking gdb to put a breakpoint there
doesn't work, either).

[Bug 310625] Re: problem

2008-12-22 Thread goto
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How
to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 295111] Re: Brasero crashes constantly when browsing mp3s to burn to disk

2008-12-22 Thread zeke
I'm getting this same problem, only I can reproduce mine every single
time in three steps: open Brasero, click the button to open an audio
project, navigate to my MP3 folder, double click on a song = screen goes
dark and brasero stop responding. I have to then force quit.

Now, I recently noticed that this will happen every single time if I
click on an MP3 other than the one at the top of the list first. If I
click on the one at the top first, it'll play and then I can stop it and
click on some other ones and sometimes even finish a whole CD without it
freezing, but sometimes it will freeze halfway through. However, if I
navigate to my MP3 folder and click on any file other than the one at
the top, it freezes every single time.

I'm using Ubuntu Studio 8.10 with Brasero 0.8.2.
