[Bug 884979] [NEW] purging a package for different architecture may delete files needed for the actual architecture
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After installing adobe-flashplugin on my 64-bit system (11.10) I removed all the packages for i386 architecture. Then I purged them. After restarting the machine, the default Ubuntu session stopped working. I found that when I purged package libglib2.0-0:i386, dpkg deleted the file /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/gschemas.compiled. However it also belongs to libglib2.0-0. I supposed that the library missed this file, because after copying it back, my box started to work again. I do not know, if it is a serious problem, but dpkg should handle these cases, when there are packages installed for different architectures. May hard linking the same files prevent unwanted deletion? ** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- purging a package for different architecture may delete files needed for the actual architecture https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/884979 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 885121] [NEW] gnome-terminal resize in wmaker does not work and breaks up mouse function
Public bug reported: Opening gnome-terminal in window maker works as expected. When trying to resize gnome-terminal an error occurs. When pressing the mouse button for resizing, the window can't be resized. After trying to resize the mouse lacks some important functionality: auto focus of windows on mouseover does not work anymore, pressing left or right mouse buttons or using the scroll wheel does not work anymore. To cure this all gnome- terminal windows must be closed (BTW, by keyboard commands, because mouse is not working). If done so, the mouse works again as expected. In this malfunctioning state described above the only thing that works is moving the mouse cursor, but you can't press any mouse button nor does the mouseover autofocus work. I've been using gnome-terminal under wmaker with natty without problems. after dist-upgrade to oneiric, the above described problem exists. [Bug 885148] [NEW] Spurious blank lines in gnome-terminal
Public bug reported: Easiest way to see this is to list directories using 'ls' with more than 30 files. Using gnome-terminal, the last 29 lines of stdout are correctly printed. The first lines are replaced entirely by whitespace. Using Xterm does not show this problem - all files are listed. Unity is in use as my desktop under Ubuntu 11.10. I have also seen this problem with 'diff'. If too many lines are output, the first few are replaced by whitespace. I made a slight change to the default gnome-terminal profile, to set the scroll back lines to 5120. I do not know whether this problem occurred before altering the profile. I have however since set this back to the default 512. [Bug 885146] [NEW] Archive Manager fails to handle password-protected ZIP files
Public bug reported: Upon trying to open a password-protect ZIP file in Archive Manager/file-roller, I'm correctly prompted for a password. However, on pressing enter/clicking OK, I then get an error dialog stating: An error occurred while extracting files. Command Line Output error: must give decryption password with -P option ... on trying again without quitting file-roller, I'm not prompted for a password - it simply shows the same dialog. [Bug 885251] [NEW] Don't display a thousands seperator in binary mode
Public bug reported: I switched to programmers mode in gcalctool and also enabled in prefs, that a thousands seperator is to be shown. I then switch to binary mode. Now I entered a number: 001 It's displayed as: 1'111'001 Ie. every 3 digits, a thousands seperator (the ' in my case) is added. For binary mode, this doesn't make much sense. [Bug 878533] Re: gedit crashes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. Bug #881263 has been marked a duplicate of this one, although the circumstances of its appearance are different. [Bug 873545] Re: After update Nautilus icons are black/white, no decorations of breadcrumb etc.
I can confirm that the bug rears it's head after closing Opera. Dan Lea describes what happens perfectly. After I close Opera, the Opera window sticks around for 1-2 seconds while the disk thrashes. It then closes, the Unity bar across the top of the screen flickers (I'm assuming as gnome-settings-daemon crashes), and Nautilus resets its icons/theme. If needed, is there anything I can do to capture the error messages that gnome-settings-daemon would produce as it crashes? [Bug 885324] [NEW] Completely replace lcms1 by lcms2 in Ubuntu
Public bug reported: Many packages in Ubuntu use the liblcms1 library (source package lcms). This library is discontinued upstream and replaced by liblcms2. Due to this bugs in liblcms1 are not fixed any more upstream and important improvements in color reproduction and safety against crashes are not done. Therefore we should remove lcms1 and migrate all programs using it to lcms2. ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: enblend-enfuse (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: geeqie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: imagemagick (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: kdegraphics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: lcms (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libkdcraw (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libmng (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: rawstudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: shotwell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: shotwell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: gimp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: imagemagick (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libkdcraw (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: kdegraphics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: geeqie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: rawstudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: enblend-enfuse (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libmng (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885324 Title: Completely replace lcms1 by lcms2 in Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/885324/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
