[Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working
Thucydides411's video looks about like what I'm experiencing. I'm starting to think we may be looking at more than one bug in the same place. Tell me this, has anyone who experiences the unresponsiveness followed by erratic movement fixed their problem with synclient TouchpadOff=0? And has anyone who experiences unresponsiveness WITHOUT the erratic movement NOT fixed their problem with that same solution? I'm not that familiar with the inner workings of Ubuntu's pointer control, but if I'm not mistaken, synclient's TouchpadOff variable toggles based on whether the touchpad has been disabled by either the disable while typing setting or the disable with external device connected setting, is that correct? Which means if it were to get stuck at 1, and the touchpad is unresponsive, manually flipping it to 0 would re-enable the touchpad... I assume temporarily until the same bug occurs again. But then, that would have nothing to do with the touchpad freezing and then starting to jump and click and drag everywhere. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/868400 Title: Synaptics touchpad stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/868400/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 828392] [NEW] light-themes don't display well in gnome-panel 3+
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Please see the attached screenshots. Adwaita looks lovely in Gnome Fallback (aka Gnome Classic or gnome-panel) but Ambiance Radiance do not blend right. It's probably worth looking at Adwaita's code to see what they do exactly to support Gnome Shell Fallback. Perhaps light- themes uses too many hacks that don't all work well with the Gnome 3 switch. This is a high priority as a decent amount of upgraders who will try to keep using Gnome Fallback even though little developer time is spent to keep it working. And since there is not an obvious way to change the theme in Gnome 3, they may not know that switching to Adwaita will improve the appearance, or know how to do that either. [Bug 782411] Re: Could not read DVD. This may be because the DVD is encrypted and a DVD decryption library is not installed.
I was having this problem too. I had installed CSS , I could see and browse the DVD, but it wouldn't play. I could play unencrypted VOBs, but not encrypted ones. [Bug 664886] Re: can not sign into msn protocol
@Erasmo Thank you for your proposed fix/workaround for this bug. This bug does not meet the criteria for the Opinion status. From the description, it appears to be a real bug (assuming it can be reproduced), and no reason has been provided for it not to be. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status and https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/Statuses. Please read those carefully before changing any more bug statuses. (And also http://blog.launchpad.net/general/of-bugs-and-statuses, even though that doesn't discuss the Opinion status specifically.) @Atuzyk Normally I'd change this bug's status back to New, but since so much time is passed, before doing that I want to check with you to see if your're still experiencing it. If you are no longer able to produce this bug on any Ubuntu system, please change the status to Invalid. [Bug 822275] Re: Bluetooth Browse files on functionality broken
Maybe related: When I pull down Browse files on device... from the bluetooth applet, the dialog is mangles: the list of devices is very very short, one can just barely see some letters. See attached. [Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups
Thanks Daniel - will try that. But since this fix was not there at the time of release, I rearranged my whole set up - moved the laptop to the right of my main monitor so the launcher will be in front of me... :-( Now: I got a new problem, also associated with the honoring of the primary monitor setting: the pop-up notifications unity displays are always on the right edge of the VIRTUAL, the complete desktop. But that is far, far away from where I notice it! So: it is more or less useless! [Bug 886323] [NEW] Thumbnail Creation on Digital Camera Slows System and Crashes Nautlilus
Public bug reported: The USB 2.0 connection speed on my new Canon S95 camera is not very fast, so when browsing the images directly, Nautilus' thumbnailing process seems to choke the connection. The thumbnailing takes forever, particularly for CR2 files and long .MOV files. During thumbnailing, I cannot copy or view or do anything to these files for several minutes while the thumbnailing is taking place. Sometimes the thumnailing process crashes nautilus. Nautilus should not automatically thumbnail images on these external cameras if the thumbnailing process is going to bog down the camera connection. Nautilus should either: 1) Use a faster thumbnailing process, or 2) Not thumbnail on digital cameras by default. [Bug 886327] [NEW] Nautilus window closes when unmounting currently explored filesystem
Public bug reported: What happens: In Nautilus, when exploring a mountable filesystem of a device (having it open in the active window/tab), unmounting this device by the unmount icon on the side panel causes whole window to close, having immediately followed unmounting. If the currently explored folder isn't the one on the filesystem that we unmount, then nothing happens to Nautilus window. Steps to reproduce: 1. Mount a filesystem. 2. Open Nautilus and explore the content of said filesystem. 3. Unmount said filesystem, for example using the unmount icon on the side panel. 4. In the current state of things, Nautilus window will close immediately due to unmount. What should happen: After unmounting an actively explored filesystem, the window/tab should change its focus to a default element, such as computer:/// - like it was before, or perhaps /media, /home? Alternatively: Because some consider the desired behaviour as a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/23293), there should be a possibility to change this behaviour to the way the end user wants it to be - either closing the Nautilus window/tab or changing address to a default element. It is similar to how Windows 7 explorer.exe works. I personally find this annoying - I have close to twenty partitions total and I like to unmount those on which work I have currently finished without fear of closing the program itself. It is only a matter of the last few days/weeks that I experienced this behaviour. Some time ago it used to work as described in What should happen section.
