[Bug 886620] Re: System Monitor is too complex for everyday users.

2011-11-06 Thread Jeb E.
If implemented, the new Gnome System Monitor needs a default keyboard
shortcut for all Ubuntu systems without users having to configure it. I
propose Ubuntu uses the most popular Ctrl+Alt+Del and Command+Opt+Esc
keyboard shortcuts to open up the Gnome System Monitor. This will make
the transition to Ubuntu *that much easier for complete beginners!

You don't want to know how many times a program froze and I have
clicked Ctrl+Alt+Del and all I got was a Log Out dialogue!

[Bug 863834] Re: [regression] Suspend on lid close broken on Oneiric

2011-11-06 Thread carlosv
Hi there, same problem here.
I have switchable graphics HP tm2 Intel/ATI graphic cards.
Closing the lid worked OK on Natty, just upgraded to Oneric, doesn’t work. When
I close the lid just turn the screen off.
Now, I don't think is a problem with kernel, drivers, etc. because the function
suspends works on both graphic cards if it is done on the menu. But suspend
doesn’t work if you close the lid. So it is a problem with the function on this
distribution of Ubuntu.
Hope to see it fix soon.

[Bug 859723] Re: Nautilus appearance without colour or theme

2011-11-06 Thread Aljaz
Same here, irrespective of whether Opera is installed or not. In my case the
problem
always occurs sometime after login on battery power and sometimes (but less
frequently)
on AC power. I ran 11.4 before on the same machine, absolutely problem free.

I have tried a all the suggested workarounds and none of them works. I could
'live' with
the 'appearance issues' but for me the most critical part is that the power
indicator
stops working when the error kicks in. In turn, it happened on several
occasions that
while I was running some urgent jobs on my laptop the computer just shut down.

Now, given its low priority is there any hope for a fix or is a
downgrade unavoidable?

Ubuntu better. However, you report is missing a stacktrace. Without
that, there will not be enough information for a developer to begin work
on this bug.

Please enable Apport (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport#How_to_enable_apport for details), and
then trigger the crash. You will be given the opportunity to submit
crash data to Launchpad and create a new bug report. If it doesn't
happen, open your file manager, navigate to /var/crash directory and
open the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 883823] Re: Russian timezone incorrect

2011-11-06 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
What is version of tzdata package on your system? You can check it, for
example, using apt-cache policy tzdata command.
Russian timezone was updated in tzdata 2011-j (see bug 802778 for details).

[Bug 886805] [NEW] Font size override doesn't work

2011-11-06 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Public bug reported:

If I try to use Preferences-Mail Preferences-Message Fonts (with Use
the same fonts as other applications unchecked of course) to override
the general desktop font I can only only override the message display
font and not the UI font. Meaning, I can change the selector, it just
doesn't actually change any UI fonts.

If I use gconf-editor to adjust /desktop/gnome/interface/font_name, the
evolution UI follows those changes. I don't want to change all of the
fonts on my desktop however and just want to adjust the fonts in
evolution.

2011-11-06 Thread Alessandro Menti
Thanks for reporting.

Could you please perform the following actions and tell us if the problem has
gone away?
1) Open the movie player.
2) Click on Edit-Preferences.
3) Open the Display tab.
4) Click Reset to Defaults in the Color Balance section.

If the problem does not go away, could you please tell us the following
information, so that we will be able to reproduce the bug?
1) What kind of movie were you trying to play (DVD, YouTube video...)?
2) What codec does the video use, if that information is known to you?
3) If it is publicly available (e.g. the video is on the Web), could you please
provide a URL to it?

Also, could you please reply in English, as that's the language used by
most developers and testers?

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 882956] Re: [Oneiric] [Dell XPS M1330] Gnome session dies at resume

2011-11-06 Thread Paweł Moll
I'd just like to point out that the mentioned script:

1. Is missing esac at the end of the file
2. Must be made executable (sudo chmod +x 50_custom)

I'll do some testing during the next few days and report.

[Bug 886833] [NEW] gdm-greeter unusable because filled with pixel garbage

2011-11-06 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Public bug reported:

on Lucid, since whichever update, GDM no longer displays a usable
greeter content. Instead, the mouse cursor leaves a trail of its pointer
icon in it and the face browser that should appear isn't there. This was
working fine until a few months ago, when I last logged into my LTSP
server to work locally rather than via a thin client.

[Bug 820545] [NEW] Add Event on messaging menu just launches Evolution calender

2011-11-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Version - 11.04 64-bit
Not sure what package Time Menu is in, though it may be an Evolution bug

What I did - Open Time Menu, select a date and press New Event
What I expected - Evolution New Event dialog would open, already set to date
selected on Time Menu Calender
What happened - Evolution calender opened, no New event dialog and the
calender was not even set to the date I had picked

This is important because the calender allows you to pick a date before
you click New Event (with the default date set to today). If the New
Event function only opens Evolution calender in a generic way, the
selectable date calender becomes useless and so the whole thing seems
unprofessional.

removing ignored_hosts configuration was a known design choice or an
oversight.

[Bug 882956] Re: [Oneiric] [Dell XPS M1330] Gnome session dies at resume

2011-11-06 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
I'm normally more of a KDE user (and I went back to KDE because of this
error, among other issues and dislikes I have with Gnome).

However I've been back to Gnome for testing this issue, and have to say
that since latest updates, I've been unable to reproduce the Gnome crash
at system wake up. (I've done it only 5-6 times without a crash, where
previously it would crash most, if not all, the times).

- I've tried without the above script, so the conditions are the same as
before (except for the DM maybe ? I'm back to KDM...), and would have
nothing more to report anyway as I couldn't observe the crash.

So I'm not sure whether the issue is still there or has been fixed ? I
will try again for a while and let you know.
