[Bug 1565267] Re: Gnome Calendar does not use Unity decorations

2016-04-26 Thread Khurshid Alam
Why are we using CSD at all? With gtk3-nocsd
(https://github.com/PCMan/gtk3-nocsd) it works quite well. Screenshot:
http://i.imgur.com/bb4EfOU.png

Why should disable headerbar under unity and patch menubar just like we
do for gedit and other apps.

[Bug 1575481] [NEW] [16.04] New Ubuntu Software (Center) - Non-functional core features

2016-04-26 Thread GSandSDS
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Release:16.04

ubuntu-software:
  Installiert: 3.20.1+git20160420.1.ca63436.ubuntu-xenial-0ubuntu2
  Installationskandidat: 3.20.1+git20160420.1.ca63436.ubuntu-xenial-0ubuntu2
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 3.20.1+git20160420.1.ca63436.ubuntu-xenial-0ubuntu2 500
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

What is supposed to happen:
The new Ubuntu Software (Center) is supposed to show me all software that is
part of the used repositories, all packages that can also be found using
"apt-cache dump". It is supposed to show me the version number of the package
and the size. It is supposed to letting me abort a download or installation
(for example if the download takes to long). It is supposed to show me that the
software is installed after an installation is finished.

What is happening:
The new Ubuntu Software (Center) cannot find certain software (e.g. Wine or
Steam). It is, however, possible to install such software using the terminal.
Version number and size are not shown (it seems that it endlessly tries to
calculate the size, the version field remains just blank). It is not possible
to abort an installation. If an installation is finished, sometimes the status
"installed" is not shown until the computer is rebooted. This seems to happen
randomly (it happened for me with packages for the programs Geany, GHex and
some others).

[Bug 1575452] [NEW] Copy/move dialog cannot be switched to

2016-04-26 Thread Ben High
Public bug reported:

When copying or moving a large file, Nautilus opens a window with the
progress of the operation. If the user were to pull a larger window
forward, that dialog cannot be accessed through Alt+tab or the Unity
bar. The user would have to move the obscuring window out of the way in
order to pull the progress dialog forward.

How to recreate:
1. Copy or move a large file. I recommend copying or moving to or from an SD
card, USB key, or network device because they tend to be much slower than the
local hard disk.
2. When the copy or move progress dialog appears, move a larger or maximized
window over the dialog so it is obscured. Alternately, just click a different
window to select it.
3. Click the Nautilus icon in the Unity bar, or press Alt+tab.

Expected behavior: The copy/move dialog will be brought to the front.
Actual behavior: The last used normal (non-dialog) Nautilus window will be
brought to the front.
Frequency: Every time.

Nautilus version: 3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu4
Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Linux kernel version: 4.4.0-21-generic
Architecture: x86_64

[Bug 1281580] Re: glib-compile-schemas doesn't compile relocatable schemas

2016-04-26 Thread PJSingh5000
Experiencing this issue on Ubuntu 16.04 x64.

To recreate...

Execute:
$ gsettings get org.compiz.expo:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/expo/
vp-saturation

Note the value is 40.0.

Create a file called /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/11_test.gschema.override with
the following content:
[org.compiz.expo:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/expo]
vp-saturation = '10.0'

Note that a relocatable schema was specified in the above file.

Execute:
$ glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/

Execute:
$ gsettings get org.compiz.expo:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/expo/
vp-saturation

Note that the vp-saturation value is still 40, and has not been updated.

As for the downgrade of Cairo; I can pull the PPA, but what version of Cairo am
I looking for? I need something to fill the blanks with. I'll pull the PPA
when i get the proper package name and version so I don't blow this HTPC up

I use this HTPC dual purpose. 90% of the time it is for watching TV, DVDs,

[Bug 1575337] Re: syslog.log is completely empty

2016-04-26 Thread Andres Rodriguez
ok, so I think what the issue is. I found a different rule that would
do:

& ~

However, that means " stop logging anything that matches the last rule",
however, instead of stopping just that rule, it was stopping everything.
The reason why this was stopping everything is because it didn't really
match the last rle, provided that the last rule was wrapped in an if
statement, hence it was completely stopping rsyslog logging.

[Bug 1575337] Re: syslog.log is completely empty

2016-04-26 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Ok, so MAAS install's an rsyslog config to forward messages from syslog
to /var/log/maas/maas.log. Today we noticed that maas.log was completely
empty, and on further checking, we noticed that syslog was completely
empty as well. The fun fact, however, is that MAAS has not changed its
syslog configuration in years, and we definitely don't believe this is
the problem. Also, this was working before just fine without any issues
before , and as such, we don't believe is a problem on rsyslog.

The interesting thing is that rsyslog hasn't really change much in the
past few months (iother that 2, no change rebuilds). Also, syslog logs
that should be on /var/log/syslog are on systemd's journal.

MAAS config on /etc/maas/rsyslog.d/99-maas:

# Log MAAS messages to their own file.
:syslogtag,contains,"maas" /var/log/maas/maas.log

[Bug 1575351] Re: tell me I have OS updates and will not install said updates.

2016-04-26 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1573206] Re: GNOME Software does not install third-party .deb packages

2016-04-26 Thread Anders Ström
It seems like if a third party package has been (attempted) installed,
automated updates are disabled.

/ (#17)

However, even after you get the deb package installed, it breaks your
ability to sudo apt-get update. /

---

"Hi, this has been fixed upstream. If you still have issues, please
fully update with:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade"

Does the upstream fix for everyone affected (who has attempted to
install a third party package such as Google Chrome) entail to start a
terminal session and run these commands, while adding "sudo apt-get -f
install"?

[Bug 1574617] Re: External monitor keeps going blank

2016-04-26 Thread Lucas Corte Real Saldanha
I have the same problem happening after the upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04.

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 plugged into a dock with 3 external
monitors (I'm not using the notebook display). After the upgrade by some
reason two of the monitors randomly blanks and come back after 1 or 2
seconds. I couldn't find a way to reproduce the problem, it is random.

The interesting thing is that 1 of the 3 monitors never does that, the
one that is using a VGA cable. The other two are using DisplayPort.

I can confirm I experience exactly the same problem as described in #6

confirm information in other comments #1, #2, because GPS always starts
working again if I switch apps, but GPS stops again after a minute and
apps have to be switched again and so on. Its exactly as described in #6

i found one kind of solution :
1) DL the archive according to your version
https://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=gnome-software
2) as an adm remove the original gs-plugins-9
3) extract the recently downloaded gs-plugins-9 file
4) as adm move it to the right place (usr/lib/)

for me it worked.

[Bug 1543782] Re: Complete system freeze some time after lock screen starts

2016-04-26 Thread Richard Eames
The only note-worthy log entries I see in that folder are in
x-0-greeter.log, and I'm not 100% sure they're related to this bug, I've
attached the log file.

I have just managed to reproduce this again:
1) I sshed into my machine from another machine to verify when my machine
crashes
2) On my machine I hit ctrl+alt+L to start the lock screen
3) Waited a few minutes (not sure how long I actually need to wait)
4) pressed the num lock key
At that point, the LED lights on my keyboard and mouse turned off, and the
monitors displayed the "not connected" message. On the machine that I used to
ssh with, the terminal had frozen.

The reason I assigned this to lightdm is because I've reproduced this
bug on the greeter screen where (I think) it's the only thing running,
and it crashes the greeter leaving just the background image/colour
displaying.

Vacation stopped working for me on Aquaris M0 (15.04 OA-10) after an

I'm not sure how well GPS is working but it now knows where I am and the
location icon has stopped blinking.

Just a comment: On pages you have influence on, you might consider switching to
appstream:// URLs
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/sect-AppStream-Services-UrlHandler.html

This URL is supported by AFAIK all software-centers that support
AppStream.

Re: [Bug 360970] Re: Multi-monitor - When using two displays with different vertical resolution, icons get lost on the shorter display

2016-04-26 Thread Michael B. Trausch
Of a sort. All the required data structures for proper implementation is
present to fix this bug. It's just a matter of knowing the size of N
rectangles, where N is the number of displays.

Chalk it up to upstreams desire to get away from a file-based desktop.

[Bug 1575248] Re: "AppStream cache update completed, but some metadata was ignored due to errors." on "sudo apt-get update"

2016-04-26 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Btw, the linked Debian bug is valid, because it complains about not being able
to take action on this message, which is something that could be improved.
But since this will usually highlight issues which can only be fixed
server-side, this message is primarily for distributors and PPA-maintainers, to
know that something is wrong and needs fixing (details are show in verbose
mode, because the issues can be plenty - see the Debian bug report for that).

[Bug 1575248] Re: "AppStream cache update completed, but some metadata was ignored due to errors." on "sudo apt-get update"

2016-04-26 Thread Matthias Klumpp
The AppStream component 'com.steelseries.rival-legacy.firmware' in
`/usr/share/app-info/xmls/org.freedesktop.fwupd.xml` must have a and
 tag to be valid.
Adding fwupd, because this should be fixed there. Upstream said he will commit
a fix to fwupd tomorrow.

The ID collisions are issues in the metadata Ubuntu provides, and something
which can only be fixed server-side, or basically in the packages providing:
 * plan.desktop
 * flcheckers.desktop
 * flblocks.desktop
 * flsudoku.desktop
If two packages providing the same .desktop file is justified, one should be
ignored using X-AppStream-Ignore, so it is clear which one is the primary
component to be used by AppStream.

The issue "zathura-pdf-poppler.desktop extends zathura.desktop, but
zathura.desktop was not found." needs to be investigated, looks like
there is some package/file missing in the archive, or a value isn't set
correctly.

In any case, fixing the fwupd issue will make the warning message go
away, so I'm marking this as invalid on AppStream for now.

I think my problem is the same as bug #1573206.

The reason I suspect the problem is related to installing required
dependencies, is that after I got all of the dependencies installed by
other means, Software Install would then successfully install the package.

2016-04-26 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
apt-term.log shows this is exactly the same error for Michel Tissier.

On the other hand Franck and Zottelbeyer only experience this with the
python3 dependency, but not with libxml2. So that is why the system is
still functional for them after the upgrade.

I have checked that this apt version belongs to Xenial, and not to Wily
which is 1.0.10.2.

I pinged the bug on FD.o (looks like without any success), I don't have
any contact with cairo devs unfortunately. Maybe you can get some
attention by posting to ca...@cairographics.org?

[Bug 1573168] Re: [Frieza] Location service fails to start cleanly, entering restart loop

2016-04-26 Thread Steven Wijgerse
It by the way seems to put a heavy drain on battery. Normally when
putting the tablet away it uses a few percent per day.

Over last night I charged the tablet to 100%, took it off the charger
this morning, hardly used it (it showed 98% battery left), picked the
tablet up now (which is 6 hours later) and there is only 64% battery
left..

and not with that rather? Would be interesting to try with the SRU which

[Bug 1565267] Re: Gnome Calendar does not use Unity decorations

2016-04-26 Thread Will Cooke
White corners are, I think, because g-cal has it's own CSS file "gtk-
styles.css". Line 5 of this file sets .views to have a background
colour of @theme_base_color.

Our CSS tries to override this on the GcalWindow object and set the
colour to transparent. I think this is being over-ridden in turn by the
hard-coded (?) gtk-styles.css. Setting our override CSS to
GcalWindow.views is not effective.

In gcal-applicaiton.c:

#define CSS_FILE "resource:///org/gnome/calendar/gtk-styles.css"

[Bug 1538426] Re: packages have unmet dependencies

2016-04-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at http://askubuntu.com or http://ubuntuforums.org. For help
on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1575139] Re: in gedit app search-form close when change language

2016-04-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
