[Bug 463314] Re: gdm ignores timed/auto login on all but first greeter run

2011-08-22 Thread Charlie Kravetz
hamish: Perhaps you should read what I really wrote above. This bug is
in GDM, which may affect each distribution. Let's remember, Xubuntu is
not Ubuntu, and mixing these does make it much more confusing to
determine what is really being used. As you state, it is still broken
in xubuntu 11.04 which makes ubuntu an unusable option is not a valid
argument. Xubuntu 11.04 is not Ubuntu, it derived from Ubuntu. Let's
attempt to keep these separate. A bug in GDM can affect all
distributions that use it. It is still a bug in GDM.

This can be reproduced simply by installing a daily/daily-live image of

[Bug 754775] [NEW] New branding on aisleriot solitaire cards is faded

2011-04-08 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-games

Testing using Natty Narwhal up-to-date as of 2011-04-08. There was a new
update to ubuntu-branding that may have caused this issue.

The cards have the ubuntu logo on the back, but both front and back now
have a faded appearance. This is quite hard on the eyes of those who do
see so good. The faded appearance makes it difficult to read the cards,
as well as to distinguish the suits between red cards and between black
cards.

I am attaching a screenshot to this bug report which shows the fade
clearly.

[Bug 672779] Re: Empathy does not connect using video

2011-02-22 Thread Charlie Kravetz
The packages in -proposed are tested and then added to the official
repositories. Empathy is now version 2.32.1-0ubuntu1.1 in Ubuntu 10.10,
and should have resolved this issue. If it did not resolve the issue for
you, please file a new bug using 'ubuntu-bug empathy' in a terminal.
Doing this after a failed attempt to use empathy will attach all
relevant logs to the bug report. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 710901] Re: search not implemented

2011-02-01 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

I reproduced this in Xubuntu Natty Narwhal as follows:
yelp in the terminal opens Desktop User Guide. Typing gedit in the search box
does not do anything, but in the terminal I have FIXME: search_activated.

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

[Bug 707196] Re: White line apears on panel when using hebrew layout

2011-01-28 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for reporting this issue. This is happening because the panel
has one too many items on it. The power inhibit applet has reached the
end of the available space, which is also why the white line touches its
icon. When in USA mode, the indicator applet requires a tiny bit less
area, giving the icon the space it needs to be fully displayed.

An attempt to reproduce this bug with Ubuntu 9.10 was made and failed to
given the information you've provided. Please either a) upgrade and test
or b) increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try
again.

Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 527089] Re: Totem's shuffle is not truly random

Thank you for this report. Unfortunately, shuffle mode is not really
designed for movie play, but for music. Since Totem is designed as both

random sequence of songs in the playlist, rather than a random sequence

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

[Bug 511165] Re: Totem BBC iPlayer showing continous pop-ups due to disconnection of internet

2011-01-27 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
4. not sure, but aren't the pop-ups designed to let you know that a required
internet connection got lost?
Thanks!

Attempts to verify this fix in -proposed failed using Xubuntu Lucid
10.04, fully updated before enabling -proposed. Both before and after
enabling proposed, I added a user, and restarted. I then went to System

the User ID to 975. I closed Users and Groups and restarted. The User ID
changes back to 1001 each time.

[Bug 486747] Re: [Usability] Ubuntu MenuBar applet to have an option to show icons instead of text

2011-01-24 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Natty Narwhal. It would help us greatly if you
could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next
release of Ubuntu.

With Natty Narwhal moving to Unity, and the changes to the desktop, we
would like to know if this is still an issue. Natty is using icons
instead of text.

[Bug 474233] Re: brasero does not eject disk after burning

2011-01-12 Thread Charlie Kravetz
This bug report was fixed with Brasero 2.30.2 for the original reporter.
The other bug is still open, marking it a duplicate will mean it is also
fixed. I would suggest filing a new bug by opening a terminal and typing

ubuntu-bug brasero

for Ubuntu 10.10. also, please make sure other applications are working.
Will exaile or kb3 burn the disc and eject it? If not, it may not be
brasero that is causing issues for you.

If there is a problem with more than one different application
attempting to burn cd's and you are sure it is not your hardware
failing, you can report the issue using

ubuntu-bug storage

in a terminal. Thanks for helping improve Ubuntu.

[Bug 482384] Re: Battery Discharging notification urgency

2011-01-11 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Since one of the developers requested a separate bug for this issue, it
should not have been marked a duplicate of bug 482283. It should remain
a separate bug per his request.

[Bug 697280] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in ev_pixbuf_cache_set_selection_list()

2011-01-10 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thanks for your response. This bug does appear to have a valid
stacktrace, so let's see if there is enough information for the
developers to work the issue. I am marking it confirmed, with the
developers aware that it can not be reproduced reliably.

[Bug 555709] Re: Laptop display maximum dim at startup

2011-01-07 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
