[Bug 1877135] Re: Failed to start Virtual filesystem service - Apple File Conduit monitor [libusbmuxd.so.4 not found]
If anyone is wondering what "properly removing it" actually means it's just literally rm /usr/local/lib/libimobiledevice.so.6. [Bug 1443178] [NEW] Accounts Service always relies on language fallback if never set by the user
Public bug reported: current build number: 169 device name: mako channel: ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed alias: ubuntu-touch/vivid-proposed last update: 2015-04-12 20:38:14 version version: 169 version ubuntu: 20150412 version device: 20150210 version custom: 20150412 This causes a bad side effect when changing volume via indicator-sound, as that will cause a sync to accountsservice in order to sync the volume. Once that sync happens, it will request the user properties, and in case the user doesn't have a valid language at /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user, it will always rely on the fallback, which would be fine if calculating the fallback wasn't 't so cpu or i/o intensive (and that happens multiple times). As a test, just flash latest vivid image on mako, don't set any language when the wizard shows up, run top and then change the volume by pressing volume up/down. This is what I see with mako: PID USER PR NIVIRTRESSHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 2609 phablet 20 0 499660 121220 52688 S 7.6 6.5 0:41.69 unity8 5600 phablet 20 03676 1760 1288 R 6.0 0.1 0:00.19 language-option 1312 root 20 0 211532 15572 11344 S 1.9 0.8 0:07.25 unity-system-co 1316 phablet 20 0 36532 3792 2928 S 1.3 0.2 0:01.66 accounts-daemon And the reason why: src/user.c ... static void user_get_property (GObject*object, guint param_id, GValue *value, GParamSpec *pspec) { User *user = USER (object); ... case PROP_LANGUAGE: if (user-language) g_value_set_string (value, user-language); else g_value_set_string (value, user_get_fallback_value (user, Language)); break; case PROP_FORMATS_LOCALE: if (user-formats_locale) g_value_set_string (value, user-formats_locale); else g_value_set_string (value, user_get_fallback_value (user, FormatsLocale)); break; user_set_property never gets called unless the user changes the system language from system-settings or wizard. Once you change the language, it will set a valid language at /var/lib/AccountsService/users/user, causing this behavior to stop. Another bad side effect of this issue is that it takes quite a while for accountsservice to reply back to indicator-sound when the sync happens, possibly causing sync aborts (as indicator-sound only waits 1 second before triggering another sync). Some possible ways to fix this issue: 1) Make wizard to set language even when the selected language is already the default one; 2) Change accountsservice to save the fallback value at the first time it gets that from the system; ** Affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: accountsservice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to accountsservice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443178 Title: Accounts Service always relies on language fallback if never set by the user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1443178/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1440852] [NEW] Need a way to tell our userspace if GPS is currently active or not
Public bug reported: As a result of bug 1434379, QA wanted to check if there could be a way (cmdline/API) to know, from the location-service itself, when the GPS hardware is active or not. Basically the only reliable way to know that is by checking /system/bin/logcat, and retrieving the GPS HAL logs. Having such call could allow us to create regression tests that could check for bug 1434379 (and similar ones). ** Affects: location-service (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440852 Title: Need a way to tell our userspace if GPS is currently active or not To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/location-service/+bug/1440852/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1422879] Re: GPS stays active after location data is used by a scope (even after not not using the scopes anymore)
From looking at the unity-scopes-shell code for the location provider, it seems like there is no direct correlation with the client request and the active location lookup service side. The request seems to be continuous and always on, is this is so, then we have a problem as this means the GPS hardware is active and signalling even though the user is not interested in location data at the moment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1422879 Title: GPS stays active after location data is used by a scope (even after not not using the scopes anymore) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1422879/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1246734] Re: [Gimp] Save/Export only works in HUD, not in file dialog
I can't reproduce with the exact steps you describe, but I'm also affected by the save options being greyed out sometimes. So far it seems to be somewhat random so steps to reproduce are difficult to explain. This usually causes problems in my case: 1. Open a png image through the right-click menu on Nautilus 2. (It will probably succeed the first time) 3. Close Gimp 4. Re-open the png image through the right-click menu on Nautilus At this point I'm usually left with all the save options greyed out except for the Overwrite image.png option. I can also confirm that using the HUD allows me to access all the options that are greyed out in the menu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246734 Title: [Gimp] Save/Export only works in HUD, not in file dialog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1246734/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1029165] [NEW] Settings window too big if there's an error message in a plugin
Public bug reported: If, for some reason, there's an error message in one of the plugins, the settings window is expanded so that the whole message string is visible. I attached two pictures showing this problem. You can see that the problem is in the plugins tab. The error message seems to be in the Youtube plugin (? Hard to tell as it's just a green arrow). This probably requires some special conditions so it may not be all that easy to reproduce. I have a portuguese (from Portugal) Google Apps account that I have entered in the Online Accounts dialog window (through Empathy). In Portugal the youtube service isn't available to users of Google Apps yet, so that's what the error message is saying. I usually see that message in the web browser if I try to login to youtube with my Google Apps account. Steps to reproduce: 1) Have a Google Apps account in a country that doesn't support youtube service yet 2) Open Shotwell 3) Go to menu Edit - Settings Expected results: The settings window isn't stretched beyond the screen's boundaries Actual results: The settings window is expanded horizontally beyond the screen's boundaries so that an error message is visible in the plugins tab ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: shotwell 0.12.3-0ubuntu0.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-27.43-generic 3.2.21 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-27-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu11 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Jul 25 23:18:50 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120425) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=pt:pt_BR:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=pt_PT.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: shotwell UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: shotwell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029165 Title: Settings window too big if there's an error message in a plugin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1029165/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 676828] Re: Contacts does not show up in empathy contact list
It seems that most jabber clients are having troubles getting the contact list from GTalk. So, probably is Google's fault. Here gives some info: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/chat/thread?tid=4934204c7dcf90f4 Extracted from that link: Google has changed the way to send/retrieve contact list. Now it sends contacts with: ros:query xmlns:ros=jabber:iq:roster/, but should do this with: query xmlns=jabber:iq:roster / which is an XMPP standard. I really don't know why they've changed this... http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc3921.html#roster -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/676828 Title: Contacts does not show up in empathy contact list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/676828/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 850649] Re: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy
I can confirm that this doesn't happen when using Unity-2D with Metacity (scroll is now fast at both chromium and gnome-console). Will try to run perf against compiz and see if I can find why it's so slow for me with Oneiric (it was fine with Natty). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/850649 Title: gnome-terminal extremely slow and display buggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/850649/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
