[Bug 2034763] Re: Flatpak applications ignore appearance settings with glib2.0 2.77.3 and xdg-desktop-portal 1.17.2

2023-09-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue comes from the new xdg-desktop-portal, see
https://github.com/flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal/pull/1082 for details

The new configuration system gives more flexibility to the desktop
environment to select the portal variants that should be used but it
might require tweaks from those desktop environments

The GNOME configuration which fixes the issue was added in
https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/gnome-session/-/commit/b201c9c4
which is including in the gnome-session version uploaded to Ubuntu yesterday

Where are the images stored? on a local drive directory?
it seems the portal interface is used to access the content so could be a

[Bug 2026228] Re: gnome-control-center crashed when switching to mirror mode and monitors don't have matched resolution

2023-07-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 2025687] Re: URL Links in Document Viewer Does not Open in Firefox

2023-07-04 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. Do you use the evince deb or snap? Is
your firefox the default Ubuntu snap version?

If you do
$ journalctl -f

is there anything printed when you try to open an url?

[Bug 2025531] Re: file-roller crashed with signal 5 in g_object_new_valist()

2023-07-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu
that you are using.

Thank you!

[Bug 2025118] Re: Adding a wireguard VPN from file hangs the dialog if...

2023-06-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. Do you get any error dialog displayed
before the hang?

Are you sure it's due to the dot and not the length of the filename?
Trying 'w.example.conf' it doesn't hang where it displays an error and
hand renaming the same file 'wireguard.example.conf'

2023-06-21 Thread Sebastien Bacher

languages property that it's doing for old language one

[Bug 2022916] Re: gdbusconnection: Explicitly destroy an idle source on cleanup

2023-06-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Hey Mike. While I understand that the issue is annoying there is always
risk in doing change to a library of the base system as libglib and
difficult to verify that there are not side effect of any of the
software using it. If there is no real user visible impact the benefit
is probably not worth the risk and effort for Ubuntu. Perhaps you could
set up a ppa or local env for your CI including the fix instead?

I'm closing the bug since the issue is fixed in the current version, it
doesn't prevent us to target older series if we decide to go the SRU way

Thanks for your interest in helping to resolve this issue. In order to
get to the bottom of this we need to figure out where the program is
hanging. If you can follow the steps on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace#Already_running_programs and attach
the generated text file to this bug it would be of great help.

[Bug 2020641] Re: Installing or removing apps through snap-store launches another gdm session

2023-06-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Sorry about the difference-between-series that's my fault, as said on
IRC I started doing the cherrypicking after being pinged via email and
midway noticed there was patch and sponsoring request here, I didn't
want to redo the uploads for the series already pushed but also didn't
want to ignore the contributor so I sponsored for lunar the version of
the bug...

[Bug 2017420] Re: Cannot open HEIF/HEIC images in 23.04/lunar anymore

2023-06-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
** Description changed:

+ * Impact
+
+ The libheif loader is bailing out due to a missing plugin directory
+ which leads to image viewer as eog not being able to open pictures in
+ that format anymore
+
+ * Testcase
+
+ Install libheif1 and heif-gdk-pixbuf and try to open a .heif file in eog
+
+ * Where problems could occur
+
+ The package build is using the option to not split the codec in separate
+ plugins but the version of Lunar doesn't handle the missing plugins
+ directory and bails out. The code of the version in mantic has been
+ refactored in a way which fixes this problem. For lunar it's easier to
+ just create the directory. The directory is included in the libheif1
+ binary but that should not create any conflict, it's a temporary
+ situation for lunar only and even if the soname changed dpkg allows for
+ several deb packages to provide the same directory.
+
+ --
+
+
In previous Ubuntu versions, including 22.10, I was able to open
HEIF/HEIC files by installing libheif1 and heif-gdk-pixbuf. This does
  not work anymore in 23.04.

Running eog in a terminal displays:
  $ eog IMG_9996.HEIC

eog then shows "Could not load image “IMG_9996.HEIC”. Image loading
  failed."

-
  gpicview even crashes immediately:
  $ gpicview IMG_9996.HEIC
  Gtk-Message: 14:30:30.216: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

[Bug 2019901] Re: Segmentation fault crash in nautilus

2023-05-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
