Sorry if it's a duplicate.) Currently exhibits can have only one image. So they can't, for example, have one image for the logo and text, and another image for the background. This is one of the two things causing USC banners to be lopsided to the left. (The other being that USC barfs if a banner is 100% wide.) [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1043759] Re: Display settings confirmation dialog appears out of the screen when disabling one monitor in a multi monitor setup
** Changed in: compiz Milestone: 0.9.8.2 = 0.9.8.4 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1043759 Title: Display settings confirmation dialog appears out of the screen when disabling one monitor in a multi monitor setup Status in Compiz: New Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have a two monitors setup with the laptop screen and external monitor connected via VGA. This setup is illustrated in the attached screenshot from the display settings applet in the control center. * Taking that setup as a starting point, * Place the display settings window on laptop monitor (bottom display) * Click on the off button for the laptop monitor to disable it * Click the apply button to confirm settings Expected result: * Laptop monitor turns off * Display settings window moves to the current workspace on the active monitor * Popup dialog asking if I want to keep this configuration or revert it appears on same workspace as above Current result: * Laptop monitor turns off * Display settings window and popup dialog move to the workspace down from the currently active one In other words what is happening is that the windows that were in a disabled monitor gets moved to a workspace that has the same relation to the current one as the spatial relationship between monitors. For example if the laptop monitor was setup as being on the right of the external monitor, the window would be on the workspace to the right of the active one. This is clever, but extremely hard to guess for the user, especially if they don't normally use workspaces in their daily ubuntu usage. What's worse is that there's a timeout on the confirmation dialog that will keep ticking and will automatically revert the previous configuration when it expires, confusing the user even more. I don't mind keeping the clever behaviour but the display settings window should be an exception to that rule and should always appear on the active workspace on the active monitor. Or the workspace should switch automatically to the one where the window ends up being placed in. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 479826] Re: gnome-panel consuming 100% of CPU and driving up memory
Happened to me too yesterday. Turning on the computer (it was fine before, no updates installed) I got some messages about widgets that failed to load (happened before so I ignored it) andthen the desktop was unusable. Gnome panel was sucking 100% and the panels were totally unresponsive. Tried logging into a console and killing gnome-pannel (respawning) and then killing it's parents but it didn't help. Then I apt-get removed the gnome-panel package and reinstalled -- didn't help. I then apt-get purged gnome-panel and reinstalled, still didn't help. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 711815] Re: Nautilus sometimes won't establish connection to windows share
I see this behaviour on one of our 10.04.4 x86 clients. The share is located on a windows 2000 ad controller. The bug shows itself when single-clicking on the windows share bookmark. Sometimes just waiting a few seconds and then clicking again on the bookmark makes the connection work. Other times there's no way of connecting to the share by using the bookmark. On those days the only way is using the File = Connect to server dialog box, which always works. So far this bug seems to affect only our single x86 10.04.4 client machine. All other client machines that connect to the same windows 2000 share are 10.04.4 x64, and none of the shows the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711815 Title: Nautilus sometimes won't establish connection to windows share Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: gvfs I find Nautilus erratic in it's ability to connect to windows shares on our lan. Hi everyone, I've started to think about this issue again after I've read Regression Potential... I think it is easy for someone to accidently/unknowingly reintroduce this bug! [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1033116]
I am seeing the same problem with Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: e29a214) on Ubuntu 11.04 (x86). In Impress or Writer, clicking on the little black dropdown arrow of the Font Color toolbar icon has no effect. No dropdown menu appears. The same is true for some of the other toolbar icons I tried (e.g. arrow style). Others like Font Size or Font Name work just fine. Contrary to the other reports here, it doesn't matter weather the toolbar is attached horizontally or vertically. The dropdown never works. I tried a complete re-install and also deleted .config/libreoffice/3/user without success. This makes LibreOffice basically unusable for me at the moment. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033116 Title: Arrows missing in LibreOffice such that sub-menu can't be shown Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: Confirmed Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In LibreOffice Writer, when a toolbar is docked, icons on the toolbar that can't be shown due to limited space are grouped to be shown in a vertical menu triggered by pressing the more button (the button with on it). Created attachment 66786 PDF Signature verification support Here's an initial attempt at solving this issue. This patch adds signature verification support to poppler core. (note i'm a total noob regarding PCKS :D) From what i see you can go gnutls_pkcs7_export + gnutls_x509_crl_import and then the x509 thing offers lots of getter, no? @Albert OK, I can see the problem for poppler in terms of licensing. A quick evaluation of the alternatives: gnutls seems to be unsuited for this because it doesn't have a decent PKCS7 API that would allow me to parse the signature and access each component. I've only found this in the docs: http://www.gnu.org/software/gnutls/manual/html_node/X509-certificate-API.html#X509-certificate-API NSS seems to be more promising as I've found example code for PKCS#7 validation in its source tarball: mozilla/security/nss/cmd/p7verify/p7verify.c The disadvantage I see with nss is that we won't be able to reuse the system certificate store usually in /etc/ssl/certs because it will need to use a particular Berkeley DB cert store as you can find in your Firefox/Thunderbird Profile. So we'd have an implicit dependency on .mozilla/... being present or worse we'll need to introduce our own cert store. I have no experience with gnutls or nss so if anyone can correct me or add something, feel free. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/740506 Title: verify digital signatures Status in Poppler: Confirmed Status in “poppler” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: evince This is a feature request to verify digital signatures. What's missing in gnutls is a way to parse all the relevant components of the PKCS#7 object as present in a PDF signature. It seems that in gnutls they assume those objects can only contain certificates and CRLs as you can confirm if you go through the functions that take gnutls_pkcs7_t as argument. With openssl you can get the certificates, signature, and the digest of the signed content (these are the essential parts for detached signatures as used in PDF) as well as any optional timestamps or CRLs. If none of the options is enough, we can do what big projects do (e.g. Qt) and dlopen openssl, if it works for them, it ought to work for us. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 457140]
The second issue should be addressed in a separate bug. For the 1st I have really strange behavior. I can confirm that at first it was a problem with 3.6.0alpha1 build 80d5a21 BUT after I clicked on the check mark I was never able to get it back. On top of this after I clicked the check mark (unticked it) a whole list of new things showed in the options - Basically any thing that was available to show came up in a list. This leads me to think that the check marks purpose is to Hide List of Non Visible Buttons. I'm not sure what the best label is, if there are any suggestions I'll try to pinpoint it and add the label. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457140 Title: [Upstream] Checkbox with empty content in movie visible buttons menu. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1047677] Re: dconf reset
Yes this command deletes ALL of my settings. This is what i wanted to do. Yes it is a command which may cause some problems. But what about fdisk or dd. So i should not report a bug when the command is unsafe? As you said this command should reset all of MY settings. NOT ubuntu DEFAULT settings. By DEFAULT in ubuntu the window button are located on the left. this command locates them on the right, which is not the ubuntu default. The bug is that there should be a line in ubuntu- artwork.gschema.override in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas which says: [org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences] button-layout='[close,minimize,maximize:]' If you look in the file, you'll see that this has been done already for the theme: [org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences] theme=Ambiance Instead of just saying invalid, try the command first and then ask, if you don't understand. ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu.
