Title:
  WebDAV: LibreOffice does not handle vnd.sun.star.webdav protocol out-
  of-the-box

Status in LibreOffice:
  Fix Released
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Libreoffice is able to open documents located on a WebDAV server if provided
with an URL starting with the vnd.sun.star.webdav protocol.
  (for instance: vnd.sun.star.webdav://example.com/webdav/my-document.odt )

  Unfortunately, after installing Libreoffice on Ubuntu these URL aren't still
handled correctly.
  Whether you click on a link in your browser or you try to open the URL from
the command line with xdg-open vnd.sun.star.webdav://... you get a message
saying that this protocol is unknown.

  What I expected was that LibreOffice would start and would open the
  document.

  A workaround is to create a Desktop file with the following informations:
  [Desktop Entry]
  Name=WebDav LibreOffice
  Exec=/usr/bin/libreoffice %u
  Type=Application
  Terminal=false
  Categories=System;
  MimeType=x-scheme-handler/vnd.sun.star.webdav;

  and then to copy it in /usr/share/applications
  Afterwards you have to run sudo update-desktop-database so that Ubuntu will
take the new protocol into account.

  A more definitive solution would be to modify the libreoffice-base
  Desktop file that comes with libreoffice (also located in
  /usr/share/applications) to add the MimeType properties described
  above.

  Archive Manager cannot open docx files

Status in File Roller:
  New
Status in file-roller package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  In Ubuntu 12.04, Archive Manager fails to open a .docx or .odf files.
  In previous versions of Ubuntu (11.04, 11.10) this action is possible,
  AM can open a such files for viewing its content if user chose to
  right click->open with archive manager. Since .docx and .odf files are
  XML documents, user should be able to view the content of the file
  (images, text and stuff are all compressed in a single file with
  docx/odf extension). But in 12.04 the Archive Manager is unable to
  open files with that extensions, declaring "Archive type not
  supported".

  This bug is identical to bug #973675 (for 12.04 beta) which was
  converted to question #192668 which has expired. In my opinion it is
  still a bug however.

Title:
  Changing font colour to custom RGB value is hard

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Fix Released
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  From upstream bug:
  After many years using LibreOffice/OOo I found out today for the first time
how
  to set font colour to a custom RGB colour.

  To do this, you need to add a new colour to the palette, via Tools-Options,
  Colour.

  Then in that dialog, the workflow is kind of unintuitive. I clicked on the
  Add button to add a new colour, which was the wrong thing to do - apparently
  I needed to change the name of the active colour first - then when I clicked
  Modify, and set the new RGB colour, then clicked OK, the colour wasn't
  saved - I had to click Modify first.

  I was expecting to see this in the toolbar in the colour drop-down - perhaps a
  Custom button at the bottom of drop-down? Or right-click-Modify in the
  palette colours? Or even in Format-Character. But this definitely seems
like
  a context change, rather than a global setting/option.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1231799]

2014-01-24 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
Well, I don't think the start center is of great use for Linux users.
For Windows it's ok, you need to put something on their desktop so they can
find the program they installed.
But I doubt there are many Linux users who use the start center. I have it
there since 4.1 but have never opened it.

But I'm not sure what's the reason Math is hidden.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 525440]

I think the easiest way is to just disable deleting.
The native Gnome dialog also doesn't allow you to delete in the Open dialog.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 452043]

2013-12-02 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
I don't think this is a bug in LibreOffice. LibreOffice can be installed
in different places and this should not be hard-coded.

  The current menu entries have indirect invocation. This infers
  intermediate dash shell invocation and thus slowdowns the startup.
  Moreover, not using direct file path infers a useless additional load
  due to the lookup time.

  With the Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) package, the menu entry description provides the
  below command :
  ---
  j@lu64:~$ grep -i exec /usr/share/applications/libreoffice-writer.desktop
  Exec=libreoffice -writer %U
  Exec=libreoffice -writer %U
  j@lu64:~$
  ---

  The above command line is equivalent to the below pseudo instructions :
  ---
  j@lu64:~$ which libreoffice
  /usr/bin/libreoffice
  j@lu64:~$ file /usr/bin/libreoffice
  /usr/bin/libreoffice: POSIX shell script text executable
  j@lu64:~$ cat /usr/bin/libreoffice
  #!/bin/sh
  /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice  $@
  j@lu64:~$ file /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice
  /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice: POSIX shell script text executable
  j@lu64:~$ /bin/sh /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice -writer %U
  ---

  I think the /usr/share/applications/libreoffice-writer.desktop file should
  provide the below command line instead :
  ---
  Exec=/bin/sh /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice -writer %U
  ---

  Removing all those indirect calls speeds up the cold startup time by
  more than 20%.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 102026]

2013-10-28 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
The problem is in LibreOffice, the height of the Comboboxes is smaller
than in native GTK2 Applications (21px vs 25px).

I submitted a patch for this: https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/6444

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 87220]

2013-04-25 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
Maybe before we close this bug, Tomaz, could you make a few small
enhancements to be consistent with the UI:

- Add a menu entry in the Format menu named Rotate Picture
- Add buttons the the Picture toolbar.
- Rename the Manage Graphic context menu entry to Rotate Picture
- If Rotation is not possible, show a hint, even in the menu.

Thanks for your work :) It's been a long-awaited feature.

@Jarl Arntzen: When commenting via email, please remove the former
comment from your mail. Thanks.

  Currently when a picture is imported, it is impossible to rotate it.
  This makes the task of importing images/graphs into OpenOffice
  unneccessarily difficult and complex. Since OpenOffice already has a
  gazillion of options about images, it's quite amazing that it cannot
  rotate them.

  WORKAROUND: Use WriterRotationTool

Whoever implements this, gets a bounty:

Whoever wants this to be implemented, consider increasing that bounty.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 950834]

2012-11-03 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
I have created another patch with more keywords at
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/953/ before I read Caolan's comment
(#14).

I can't see any legal problem with using Microsoft trade names here. The
trademarks policy (#7) speaks about user-visible text, not about Code.
