[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071564] Re: ATI video driver circles round login screen
Andrey Barrientos M., this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071564] Re: ATI video driver circles round login screen
Hello papukaija, I have a problem, it seems apport-collect needs a browser in order to get full access, however that computer have no gui, just a working terminal. Is there an alternate way to get that information you need? Like a cli command or something. I have read the Ubuntu documentation and manual pages but all assumes you run on working GUI machine. I tried with apport-cli but that was fruitless. I'm filling this report from another computer by the way. Thank you very much for the prompt answer and I will send you the information as soon as possible. As stated in that bug: Login screen just flicks on screen then screen goes blank before login screen flickers back on and of for ever more. The same behavior is happening with an integrated ATI Rage Pro (AGP 2X and 4M memory) graphic card in a Dell OptiPlex GX1 using Lubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal. After upgrading from 12.04, it doesn't enter in the X system, and the system tries to change to the graphic mode unsuccessfully in a loop indefinitely. Previous this upgrade the system was working fine. I don't attach the xorg.log because it wasn't present in the system and this computer doesn't make use of xorg.conf. However I've attached the dmesg and lspci. It is using the latest Lubuntu kernel. I appreciate any help given in this subject and thank you for the time and effort solving this issue.
