[Desktop-packages] [Bug 963061] Re: Doesn't remember ftp password despite promising to do so

2015-02-04 Thread Jani Uusitalo
This does indeed seem to be fixed Vivid. Nautilus now has two options to
remember the credentials (till logout or forever), and both seem to do
what it says on the tin.

Title:
Doesn't remember ftp password despite promising to do so

Status in GVFS:
  Fix Released
Status in gvfs package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. In Nautilus, select Connect to Server
  2. Enter ftp server address, select FTP (with login) as type
  3. Enter credentials,
  4. select Remember this password
  5. Connect.
  6. Disconnect.
  7. Do steps 1.-2. again with the same server.

  What happens:
The User name and Password fields remain empty. You have to enter your
credentials again if you want to connect.

  What I expect to happen:
For the Password field (at the very least) be automatically filled when I
enter the associated user name. Better yet, remember and suggest (as default)
both the User name and Password used previously.

Alternatively, just use ~/.netrc if that's available and has the
  credentials (see Bug #963042).

That should be fixed in vivid with this commit

Would be nice if somebody could confirm that so we could look at making

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 963061] Re: Doesn't remember ftp password despite promising to do so

2012-10-26 Thread Daniel Hawkins
This affects the other protocols as well (not just FTP). The
credentials do get stored (remembered) in the Passwords and Keys
application, but they do not get recalled on future connection attempts.

2012-03-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. In Nautilus, select Connect to Server
  2. Enter ftp server address, select FTP (with login) as type
  3. Enter credentials,
  4. select Remember this password
  5. Connect.
  6. Disconnect.
  7. Do steps 1.-2. again with the same server.

  What happens:
The User name and Password fields remain empty. You have to enter your
credentials again if you want to connect.

  What I expect to happen:
For the Password field (at the very least) be automatically filled when I
enter the associated user name. Better yet, remember and suggest (as default)
both the User name and Password used previously.

Alternatively, just use ~/.netrc if that's available and has the
  credentials (see Bug #963042).
