Re: How to unsubscribe from this group
It seems that, at least in the GMail client, the instructions are collapsed. I honestly didn't even know they were there until you mentioned it, as I have never really had the need to uncollapse it. But yeah, the unsubscribe link isn't working for me either in the GMail client. FWIW, it seems the List-Unsubscribe header is being set. For supported clients (most of the big ones apparently), this is supposed to result in a clickable unsubscribe link. Gmail is supposed to be one of the providers that supports this, and AFAICT the link is supposed to appear to the right of the address in each message, but this isn't working for me. > Thing is unless you subscribe to a lot of Apache mailing lists, this is not > a normal way of subscribing and unsubscribing from distributions. I'm subscribed to a lot of mailing lists that work identically (and have been for years). I've never had an issue, and cannot think of another list where so many struggle with how to unsubscribe. It's why I always circle back to wondering what is different here. Is the list software buggy or less forgiving (i.e. do people try and fail)? Are we not presenting this information prominently enough on the site and/or are search engines not indexing it properly? > Which is why I linked to the Apache Cassandra > community page as an effort to point folks in the right direction that may > be wondering the same thing. I applaud the intent, but a lot of people have been tilting at this particular windmill for a while, and it doesn't seem to help. > On Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 9:10 AM Eric Evans > wrote: > > > On Tue, Mar 26, 2019 at 10:47 AM Russell Bradberry > > wrote: > > > > > > Responses like this aren't helpful. Re: How to unsubscribe from this group
This conversation comes up quite a bit as it pertains to a lot of Apache groups, especially the Cassandra groups. I've advocated in the past for a more standard way of unsubscribing, such as responding with "UNSUBSCRIBE" in the subject line or body, or more of a link-based approach rather than a special email account you need to send a message to. Thing is unless you subscribe to a lot of Apache mailing lists, this is not a normal way of subscribing and unsubscribing from distributions. So, from a user perspective, it's easy to see how people can get confused as to how to actually unsubscribe. Which is why I linked to the Apache Cassandra community page as an effort to point folks in the right direction that may be wondering the same thing. The answer might be. We seem have a lot of people who struggle to unsubscribe and I am curious as to why that is. Re: How to unsubscribe from this group
Responses like this aren't helpful. I can't even remember how I subscribed to this list as it was nearly 8 years ago. To answer the question, you can send a message to dev-unsubscr...@cassandra.apache.org. How did you subscribe?
