Re: [documentation-dev] spaces and punctuation
Ouch, there are lot of strings where tag content ends or begins with space and any of them can be problematic for translation. That's because I wrote I'd not suggest to fix them now because it would create translation overhead for 3.0. I mean, that not having spaces at beginning or end of tag content should be a policy for writers. Some examples: - Opens the emphMacro /emphdialog - click the arrow next to the emphInsert Controls /emphicon - Use the tools on the emphToolbox /emphof the (about 30) - jumps back to theemph While /emphstatement - emphLabel:/emph Target line according toemph GoTo /emphor emphGoSub/emph structure. (about 20) - item type=\input\=DDB(75000;1;60;12;2) /item= 1,721.81 currency units (etc...) Of course I cannot remember at moment all possible 'dangerous' tags. :) These are just examples. In examples above: 'Something dialog', 'something icon' are often translated as 'dialog Something', 'icon Something' and then translator has to remove space not to leave it in end of sentence or before comma. ain On Mon, Mar 10, 2008 at 10:40 AM, Uwe Fischer [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, Ain Vagula wrote: I have one suggestion for OLH. These aren't easily visible in the development environment using StarOffice 7 plus *.xhp filters, so it is good that you pointed at this. They are changed now in CWS hcshared18. Re: [documentation-dev] spaces and punctuation
I will try if the export filter can handle that. It will be very hard for the writer to tell whether a formatting includes the following whitespace or not. [documentation-dev] spaces and punctuation
I have one suggestion for OLH. Please keep starting and ending spaces and ending punctuation outside of tag content. Example: Bad: Click emphOK /emphto do something. Good: Click emphOK/emph to do something. Reason: Translators need often move tags inside sentence, in my case tag will be in end of sentence (like To do something click emphOK /emph.) As you see, this can be a source for various errors in translation (space in beginning of sentence, space before comma on period, etc). We are trying to avoid errors but it doesnt make life simpler. The same accords to punctuation, like Click emphOK./emph. There is no reason, that period must be in bold. This is for 'oo.o later' of course. ain - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
