Re: [RESULT] [VOTE] Release Maven 3.2.2

2014-06-26 Thread Jason van Zyl
I, or someone else, can make something to aggregate all the notes. For the
3.1.1 release it was a cutting/pasting exercise which seems useless. We don't
need a markup file and a text file where it's primarily cut/paste. I think
enumerating the versions and pointing at the markup is sufficient. I'll take a
look over the preparation of the next release if no one else does. There's too
much manual work for updating the site for a release.

People develop abstractions by generalizing from concrete examples.
Every attempt to determine the correct abstraction on paper without
actually developing a running system is doomed to failure. No one
is that smart. A framework is a resuable design, so you develop it by
looking at the things it is supposed to be a design of. The more examples
you look at, the more general your framework will be.

Okay, but let me explain how I got to that page :-) At the bottom of each
of the version pages, there's a link to all release notes. Go to the
bottom of the 3.2.2 highlights (and other versions), and you'll see that.
So that's a deadlink now and all these pages should be fixed.

Re: [VOTE] Release Maven 3.2.2

2014-06-18 Thread Igor Fedorenko

FWIW, m2e is happy with the staged 3.2.2 and so is one of the bigger
projects I deal with at $DAY_WORK.

Noticed a couple of small-ish problems

release notes are missing MNG-2199 [1], which I believe was merged to
master and is part of staged 3.2.2.

the release binary includes license files for each of maven-* artifacts,
which seems redundant and only adds bloat to the distribution.
