  So that is why the target could not be built. Maybe a typo in the source

  Ok. I like this idea. How I can generate this number?

 I leave this for you, as homework; it is simply an algorithm, nothing
 specific to OO API nor C++, you could even find the algorithm using

 What I'm not sure is how generic this can be: will a RTL

 not use the Western-Arabic numerals used with the Latin script,

Re: OUStringBuffer

Hello,

I have a doubt, help
I made this snippet

String abuf = buf.charAt(nLen - 1);
double ng = ::rtl::math::stringToDouble( abuf, '.', ',', NULL, NULL
);
printf ( Is : %i , ng);

But the return value is 0, in theory I want to return the last digit of the
string

String : world1695
Is : 0
String : world3184
Is : 0

The idea is that
String : world3184
Is : 4

Any ideas why not return a numeric value?

 You should post what you get and what you expect. But perhaps the
 following hints might already solve your problem.

 Have a look at stringToDouble in main/sal/rtl/source/math.cxx to learn
 about converting to number.

 Or

 charAt returns a sal_Unicode. Searching the definition for sal_unicode you
 come to main/sal/inc/sal/types.h with leads you to wchar_t. So search in
 internet for wchar_t to int to get an idea what to do.

 Kind regards

2013/4/29 Herbert Dürr h...@apache.org

 Hi Jorge,

 like Regina I have a hard time to understand the question. My best guess
 is that you have an OUStringBuffer object and need an UniString (aka tool's
 String [1]). If that is so you can get it using the UniString constructor
 that takes an OUString argument:

UniString( buf.makeStringAndClear() )

 XColorEntry(const Color rColor, const String rName)

 On the other head, why are you using std::stringstream/string? In the
 core code you should not use standard C++ string classes, but
 rtl::OUString, OUStringBuffer, etc.; even if you are playing with the
 code, before diving into the source, you should get familiar with them
 - in general, with the whole C++ UNO language binding:

 http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/ProUNO/C%2B%2B/C%2B%2B_Language_Binding
 http://www.openoffice.org/api/docs/cpp/ref/

 http://www.openoffice.org/api/docs/cpp/ref/names/rtl/c-OUStringBuffer.html
 http://www.openoffice.org/api/docs/cpp/ref/names/rtl/c-OStringBuffer.html

 Set-up the SDK and play with the string sample in

At the beginning of the class I put this code:

Original Code
String aName( aEdtName.GetText() );

I've replaced with
::rtl::OUString aName2( aEdtName.GetText() );

The concatenation. This is fine

 std::stringstream aS;
aS
 This
  ::rtl::OUStringToOString(aName2,
RTL_TEXTENCODING_ASCII_US).getStr()
  std::endl;

I convert from stringstream to string

std::string s = aS.str();
_STL::cout  s;

Now I want to replace aName with s, in the following code fragment:

if (eCM != CM_RGB)

ConvertColorValues (aAktuellColor, CM_RGB);
pEntry = new XColorEntry( aAktuellColor, aName );
-- Original code
pEntry = new XColorEntry( aAktuellColor, s );
--
Would be like this

pColorTab-Insert( pColorTab-Count(), pEntry );

aLbColor.Append( pEntry );
aValSetColorTable.InsertItem( aValSetColorTable.GetItemCount() + 1,
pEntry-GetColor(), pEntry-GetName() );

aLbColor.SelectEntryPos( aLbColor.GetEntryCount() - 1 );

But this does not work, in building generates error:
http://imagebin.org/254616

It could be the type of variable?
How is the conversion from stringstream to string, is ok?

  aStrStream \nThis is aName and aName

 OUString is a UTF-16 string. That means that when it is created from an
 ASCII string then every second byte is '\0'. That means that

 aStrStream  \nThis is   aName  ...

 is basically equivalent to

 aStrStream  \nThis is   '\0'  ...

 Therfore everything after \nThis is is cut off. To fix this you have
 to replace
  aName

 with

::rtl::OUStringToOString(**aName, RTL_TEXTENCODING_ASCII_US).**getStr()

 You may want to use a small method to make this more readable:

   namespace
   {
   sal_Char* o2a (const ::rtl::OUString rsText)
  {
   return ::rtl::OUStringToOString(**rsText,
 RTL_TEXTENCODING_ASCII_US).**getStr();
  }
   }

 and then

 aStrStream  \nThis is   o2a(aName)  ...

 [I did not compile this, there may be typos in this]

 Sorry, I do not use String anymore and had to guess and apparently guessed
 wrong. If you can, you probably should use ::rtl::OUString instead of
 String. The conversion to char* looks like this:
   ::rtl::OUString sText (::rtl::OUString::**createFromAscii(some text));
   ::std::cout  ::rtl::OUStringToOString(**sText,
 RTL_TEXTENCODING_ASCII_US).**getStr()  ::std::endl;
 or something very similar to this.

 If you still want to use String then cosv/inc/cosv/string.hxx suggests to
 use c_str() to obtain a char*.

 Well, you could generate a random unique name, simply change the logic

 By the way, are you doing this just to get used to the code? I doubt

  If you want to locate the source code for a dialog/tab page/control,
you can export HELP_DEBUG=1 and enable extended tooltips in the Tools
Options dialog.

How I can do this?
You could explain me step by step please.

 This seems the Area dialogs, it is made up of several tab pages. If
 you want to locate the source code for a dialog/tab page/control, you
 can export HELP_DEBUG=1 and enable extended tooltips in the Tools
 Options dialog. This way, when you rest the mouse on a control, you'll
 see the help id: http://people.apache.org/~arielch/images/HelpID_cui.png
 The help ID of this control in the screen shot,
 cui:Edit:RID_SVXPAGE_COLOR:EDT_NAME, will help you find the src file:

 http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/search?q=%22cui%3AEdit%3ARID_SVXPAGE_COLOR%3AEDT_NAME%22defs=refs=path=srchist=project=aoo-trunk

 Searching for the helpid of the whole tabe page, RID_SVXPAGE_COLOR you
 can find the src file, and the C++ code, if you narrow the search to the
 cui module:

 http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/search?q=RID_SVXPAGE_COLORdefs=refs=path=cuihist=project=aoo-trunk

 So you see taht this Color tab page is implemented in the SvxColorTabPage
 class

 http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/xref/aoo-trunk/main/cui/source/tabpages/tpcolor.cxx

 I'm in the code window, so far I have this link:

 http://svn.services.openoffice.org/opengrok/xref/Current%20%28trunk%29/svtools/inc/svtools/colrdlg.hxx

 http://svn.services.openoffice.org/opengrok/xref/Current%20%28trunk%29/svtools/source/dialogs/colrdlg.cxx

 Don't use http://svn.services.openoffice.org/opengrok, is outdated. And
 this seems the code from the old color picker, not for the Color tab
 page.

 To register the colors,
 What services are used?

 Debug the code in tpcolor.cxx, and pay attention to the part where you
 find the XColorTable.

 If you want to see the creation of the other UI elements (menubar,
 statusbar), break in framework::LayoutManager::createElement

 What happened with this? Did you tried it?

  Hello,

  I want to know where the source code files are declared Icons Standard
  Toolbar and Formatting.

 Do you want to know which of these xml files belongs to the Standard
 toolbar, which to the Text Formatting toolbar, etc.? Or where is the
 code that converts these xml into toolbars?

  I want to know how I can add another icon in the toolbar.

 If you look at the file, you notice that the concept of an icon does not
 exist there; all you have is what is called a UNO command, for example

 .uno:FormatLine

 The UNO command is the central point; from the UNO command the
 application framework retrieves the label/text of the toolbar item, and
 the icon bound to it.

 The command to label binding is done in the XxxCommands.xcu that you
 already know, with the Label/ContextLabel proeprty; if the Property
 property has a value of 1, it indicates that the command is bound to an
 icon.

 Icons bound to UNO commands are located at

 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/default_images/res/commandimagelist/

 the naming scheme is the following:

 * prefix:

 sc_ 16x16 image
 sch_16x16 high-contrast image
 lc_ 26x26 image
 lch_26x26 h-c image

 * the UNO command without the protocol part (.uno:), in lowercase.

 For examle, for .uno:FormatLine:

 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/default_images/res/commandimagelist/sc_formatline.png

 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/default_images/res/commandimagelist/sch_formatline.png

 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/default_images/res/commandimagelist/lc_formatline.png

 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/default_images/res/commandimagelist/lch_formatline.png

 In short, you don't add an icon to the toolbar; you add a UNO command.
 If this UNO command is new (it does not exist in the current source
 code), you'll have to implement the functionality that executes the
 command (you click the toolbar item, the UNO command is dispatched,
 that is, the functionality bound to it is executed), and also gives
 information about the status of the functionality this command
 represents (toolbar items are context sensitive, they are enabled or
 disabled, etc., depending on the state of the feature they represent).

  Similarly, I've noticed that there are several xml files at this address:

 https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/sd/uiconfig/sdraw/toolbar/

 Yes, because there are several toolbars in Draw.

  What are the interface need to draw the toolbar?

 There is a lot of code involved in transforming this xml file into
 a toolbar, spread in several modules. The central part is the
 application framework, drawing the toolbar onto the screen happens in
 vcl. If you want to dive into this, the best -IMO - is setting a break
 point in the framework code:

 framework::ToolbarLayoutManager::implts_createElement

 Note that it's better to start the application from withing the
 debugger, because UI elements are cached, you won't see it's creation
 from zero (reading that xml file) if you attach to an already opened
 document.

 If you want to see the creation of the other UI elements (menubar,
 statusbar), break in framework::LayoutManager::createElement

  What files I have to modify to do this.

 Every item in the menu bar, the toolbars, and the statusbar, is
 represented by a string that we call a UNO command. Menu bars,
 statusbars and toolbars are defined in XML files, they are usually
 located in

 module/uiconfig/[submodule/][uielement:menubar|statusbar|toolbar]/*.xml

 For the menubar and the statusbar you'll find only one xml file, because
 there is only one menubar and only one statusbar.

 Locate the menubar definition

 http://opengrok.adfinis-sygroup.org/source/xref/aoo-trunk/main/sd/uiconfig/sdraw/menubar/menubar.xml
 and search for the command following the menu structure in the UI.

 Once you found the command, you can change the label (the text displayed
 in the UI). Labels for UNO commands are defined in configuration files,
 located in
 main/officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI/ModuleCommands.xcu

 UNO commands that are used in more than one application and have the
 same label, are defined in GenericCommands.xcu.

 Note that your change will only modify the en-US string. You don't need
 to rebuild the whole office for this simple change, only officecfg and
 postprocess, then copy the respective modified file back in your
 installation (I leave this as homework ;) ).

Hello Ariel,

I need help making a tutorial. Can you help me?
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Tutorial_Build

I want to move faster.

 Hello Ariel,

 I understand that these tutorials are too old. In your opinion, what
 would be the best way I can learn, in addition to these tutorials. Could
 you give me some link, please.

 I would like to see tutorials on video, so I can understand better, and I
 can move faster.

 I feel that I'm too slow with tutorials.

 I have completed this tutorial, only in this part:

 makes really no sense.

  IMHO we should mark all these tutorials as obsolete and put a big

 @Jorge, sorry for the confusion but we have indeed some outdated stuff
 in the wiki and we don't know all the places yet. As I mentioned

I have many questions about what I'm doing,
After making the necessary modifications to the tutorial says, I have to

How I can see the changes made?
What is the folder where I have to run to open sw and see the changes?

 Did you update the source tree? Did you rebuild it?

 Try again with svn info and svn status.

 cd ROOT_SOURCE
 svn status

 If some files are marked with M, they have been modified by you, you
 might want to revert the changes.

 To update:

 svn update

 or the short form

 svn up

   URL: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk

   Review of last change: 1439888
   Date of last change: 01/29/2013 7:32:36 -0600 (Tue 29 Jan 2013)

 As you see, the last change is too old. If you update right now, you
 should be in revision 1446596.

 Once svn info tells you your source tree is up-to-date, you need to
 rebuild the whole source tree. Please refer to the Building guide:
 http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO#Building

 Your source tree was rather old, it would be better to start a new clean
 build. First, remove all the old output tree:

 cd trunk/main
 source  LinuxX86-64Env.Set.sh
 dmake clean

 Open a new terminal, and proceed as you did the first time you built:

 autoconf
 ./configure options
 ./bootsrap
 source  LinuxX86-64Env.Set.sh
 cd main/instsetoo_native
 build --html --all

 If you have a multi-core computer, try the -P switch (For example, I use
 build --html --all -P8 -- -P4 and it builds in ca. 1:15 hrs with only
 en-US).

 Recall that we have chat channels, where communication is faster than
 via mail:

Hello Ariel,

I did the patch you told me, but I have not results.

I would like to know what would be the equivalent of a code tutorial about
for this new source code to generate the button.

  http://ooo.pastebin.ca/2313037

  The changes I have done well, as each code I put it where it belongs.

 But it's not simply putting code. You need to compile the code, and
 you''ll the errors:

 main/cui/source/dialogs/about.cxx: In constructor
 'AboutDialog::AboutDialog(Window*, const ResId)':
 main/cui/source/dialogs/about.cxx:285:33: error: 'ABOUT_BTN_OK' was not
 declared in this scope

 main/cui/source/dialogs/about.cxx: In member function 'void
 AboutDialog::LayoutControls(Size)':
 main/cui/source/dialogs/about.cxx:446:30: error: 'aOutSiz' was not
 declared in this scope

 The errors speak for themselves:

 aOKSureButton( this, ResId( ABOUT_BTN_OK, *rId.GetResMgr() ) ),

 here, ABOUT_BTN_OK is not defined.
 In the new code, the define is RID_CUI_ABOUT_BTN_OK

 aOKSurePnt.X() = 135 + ( aOutSiz.Width() - aOKSureSiz.Width() ) / 2;

 there is no variable named aOutSiz in the current code.
 Besides, this hard coded layout won't work with the new code (all the
 layout is calculated relative to the two pictures, the logo (the orb) on
 the left and the header on the top.

  Please look at the bottom of the page, you see 21. Dezember 2006. So
 it

  Impress. Do you want to work in Impress?

  The tutorial shows you, how to add an item to the context menu of a
  selected graphic. If you want to work in that area, you can try to
  understand the code and have a look, how this feature is actually
  implemented and whether the description is still correct.

  Do you have already found a topic you want to work on?

  Could you give us more information, the URL link, to the tutorial you're

I already run:

But then I have the following error:

 Or use prebuilt one from

  ERROR: ERROR: More than one new package in directory

 This might be because you are using the epm from your distro. The build
 system requires a patched version. Try running configure with the
 switch:

 --with-epm-url=http://ftp.easysw.com/pub/epm/3.7/epm-3.7-source.tar.gz

  I put the following command:
  build - from instsetoo_native

 In this case, there is no need to use the --from switch, you are
 building the last module, so simply do

 cd instsetoo_native
 build

 If you have a multiprocessor CPU, run

 build -- -PN

 where N is the number of processes you want to run at the time, for
 example

 build -- -P2

Re: SVN

I've read the guides in OpenOffice.org, now I have the questions for Getting
the source:

SVN is a version control system used for multiple developers to work on the
same project. So far I've done:

Get the source via Subversion: svn co
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk aoo. Finished.

Installing Subversion:
apt-get update
apt-get install subversion
( Finished)

Please help me with my questions:

1. What step next?
2. How I can do?
3. Where to find information on the Internet?
4. Do any forum where I can learn more?
5. What tools do I need for SVN?
6. What subversion, I need another?
7. How I can start using the SVN?
8. Where I can contact other users working with this tool?
9. What essentials I need to know?
10. Why do you use SVN for this type of work?
11. Can you give me an example of how it works?

2013/1/26 Dennis E. Hamilton orc...@apache.org

 For someone who is not an Apache Committer, it is necessary to turn the
 changes made in a working copy into patches and submit the patches to
 Apache OpenOffice. There is a web page that describes some of this.

 The patches can be submitted as attachments to a bug report (the preferred
 approach).
