Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Distinctive ring and Hylafax
Richard Ford [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: Thanks Darrell I just need to finish up my testing and finally recommend a solution. What would be good, would be a way, proc mail and some other tool. To scan the PDF files of faxes and sort them to different mail boxes or folders.. Hi Richard, RAV automatically scans everything going through the qmail queue, which includes incoming faxes received and forwarded to the 'faxmaster' as pdf e-mail attachments from my customized version of HylaFAX. As for sorting the faxes into different mail boxes/folders, easy, use procmail and the faxmaster user account. You can sort via the HylaFAX generated subject line which displays the senders fax number. So if you want all faxes coming from a client to go to user Bob you key on the fax number and have faxmaster's procmailrc recipes autoforward the fax to Bob's e-mail. You may also wish to keep an archived copy of all incoming faxes in ~faxmaster/Mail/recvdfax folder. Again, all easily done with RAV, HylaFAX, procmail and the approproate procmailrc recipes. RE: [e-smith-devinfo] Imap - UID problem
What client are you using? Outlook 2000 / Outlook Express latest versions. We have experienced this problem for almost a year now. Does that mean it happens regularly for you (and maybe others?) ? Our solution is to mv all the messages to a new folder (Command line mv) and then re-sync your mail client. Then on the command line move the messages back and re-sync the client again. This causes it to rebuild it;'s index. It looks to me that I can force it to rebuild it's index also by deleting the .uidvalidity file but then with one of the next incoming mails, the problem is there again. At this stage, I am very frustrated because I just started to use imap/procmail as a very nice combination plus using webmail when on the road and an Outlook client at the office (That's just the typical combination for most of our clients). As part of my testing, I even tried to setup a new user account ('michaeld' rather than the old account 'michael') and auto forwarded all of michael's incoming mails to michaeld ... but even that ended with the same problems/errors Anyway, thanks to all of you who tried to help with your experiences and tips. Thanks for the HowTo Darrell, I was looking for something to do this. I do have a question for you though. I setup the script as you show in the HowTo, and did a test run of it. The following is what I got: /etc/cron.daily/ravscan RAV AntiVirus for Linux i386 Copyright (C) 1996-2001 GeCAD The Software Company All rights reserved. Scanning with following configuration: * checking all files! * checking inside archive files! * also checking mail files! * heuristic scanning is activated! * integrity check is enabled! * report file was created! Then it scans the file on the drive and finally I get the message: Null message body; hope that's ok My question(s) are: 1 - I do have a registered copy of RAV, but it's running in evaluation mode (as above). What do I do to let it know it's registered? 2 - Any idea as to why the e-mail is sending a Null message body? Thanks! Now if I go and click back on my inbox before the sent items has finished updating BINGO! I can force it everytime. However in answer to you question. Yes it happens to me a lot. [e-smith-devinfo] Alcatel Speed Touch USB (Stingray) and E-Smith
Hello all... I just got my BellSouth.Net ADSL service turned up today and currently have the (free) Alcatel Speed Touch USB (Stingray) modem... As much as I hate it, this will have to be my ADSL modem until I can snag a (Ethernet) Speed Touch Home from eBay (or somewhere). My question is, what procedures need to be followed to get this thing working with E-Smith? I'm running the latest version (of E-Smith) but currently don't have any USB devices on the machine or even have the USB ports plugged in to the motherboard. When I hook-up my USB ports and turn them on in the BIOS, will E-Smith pick-up on this and be ready to use them? (I've never messed with USB in Linux before.) After following whatever instructions I need to get USB working, how do I go about getting the USB ADSL modem to work as my 'net connection device in E-Smith? I can either use PPPoA or PPPoE to login to BellSouth (it defaults to PPPoA in Windows). I have setup a Speed Touch Home on E-Smith in the past - that was easy as it is an Ethernet device and E-Smith's PPPoE worked flawlessly with it. How does it work with a USB modem? I have looked through the forums for information on this but there really isn't much in there that talks about initially getting the modem to talk to Linux (and most of it is about ADSL in France). Any help and/or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated as I don't want to use this thing as a USB device on the Windows laptop any longer than I have to! [e-smith-devinfo] Working around SSL problem in Netscape - [Re: After update to 4.1.2 no https access]
This used to happen to all of my Netscape users everytime I did something in the ES admin manager that caused the security certificate to get regenerated - and there seem to be several admin options that do just that when you don't expect it. They'd all have to manually delete all of their ourdomain.org certificates, and it was very frustrating. Didn't happen to Internet Explorer users... I now work around this by using a restore_ssl script that I run as root every time the security certificate gets regenerated. It restores the cert and key files from saved copies and then restarts Apache: #!/bin/bash cd /home/e-smith/ssl.crt cp -p secure.ccsmail.org.crt.saved secure.ccsmail.org.crt cd /home/e-smith/ssl.key cp -p secure.ccsmail.org.key.saved secure.ccsmail.org.key echo SSL certificate restored. cd /etc/rc.d/init.d/ ./httpd-e-smith restart echo Web server restarted. exit 0 Works for me, and should keep us going until the 1 year lifetime of our current certificate expires.
