Re[3]: [e-smith-devinfo] Kernel source headers

2002-07-08 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

Bonjour,

Well in fact Darrell's rpm are not up to date for the sme 5.5
needed versions are 2.96-98 for cpp gcc and libstdc++
for glibc-devel 2.2.4-24 is needed.
But now the problem is for installing the kernel sources. Should I
force it or not ? (I don't think I should)

Maybe if Mitel could provide us with the kernel source and headers
used for SME 5.5, life would be much easier ...

[e-smith-devinfo] Update 5-03 ... problem with samba

2001-11-26 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

On a fresh install, I was to update to 5-02 when I saw that 5-03 was out ... so I've
upgraded to 5-03 !
Now I can't get a user to connect to a share directory ... seems samba is not working
properly.
I still can log on the domain (with a win 9.x) but without the execution of the logon
script.
No network maping is possible.
I know it's not really the list where to post this message, but if by any chance
someone know the trick it would be a great help to me.

PS: excuse my english ... too early in the morning to get anything better !

Hello Jaime Nebrera Herrera,

Just to add my 2cents, Kaspersky Anti-Virus works great on e-smith 4.x
5 and includes a module for qmail ... the only bug i've found was
with imp, after kav is operational, it's impossible to send an email
through the webmail system ...
And the update works :)

JNH Hi all,

JNH I don't know if Panda Antivirus is known abroad but here in Spain is
JNH considered one of the best antivirus by most of the PC magazines
JNH comparatives.

JNH Well, they have released a FREEWARE version of their software for LINUX.
JNH Until now it didn´t work in e-smith but their last version DOES.

JNH Is a comand only antivirus, fully automatic. It can search for virus in
JNH compresed files, can use heuristic methods and comes in rpm format (tested
JNH in ESGS 4.1.2). I understand this is a reduced version compared to all their
JNH software offer, but hell, this might be something to consider :)

JNH The only problem I know if is that there is no update service. They make
JNH a new release every month and thats it. It comes without support. I think
JNH you can't just update the virus database for example :(

JNH It works in english and spanish. You can find it in www.pandasoftware.com

JNH Maybe we could work in some project to link it with e-smith's mail system,
JNH just to make for a perfect day :)))

[e-smith-devinfo] Re: Was Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Panda Antivius now Kaspersky

2001-10-31 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

Hello Rod,

No, the only special thing is on the kavkeeper.ini (the qmail module) you
have to set the administrator as [EMAIL PROTECTED] (I
think it's because [EMAIL PROTECTED] is an alias),
otherwise you'll get thousands of messages when a virus will be
detected, for the rest just follow the Install.qmail doc and don't
care about the error message when using the chkconfig --add
kavdaemon.rh
The other thing is to first launch the kavupdater.sh, it will load the
kavdaemon.
I'm working on building an RPM, but it's my first one so don't expect
it too early :)

Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Release 1 of squidguard for ESSG

2001-08-01 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

Hello Trevor Ouellette,

Looks exactly like the one I needed !!!
Great job !
I only had this : ./create-squidguard: /sbin/signal-event: No such file or directory
But that was I guess because my squid wasn't running...
And in the end : Please reboot your server now (WHY WOULD I )
Everything is working by the book it's great !

Thanks

Re[2]: [e-smith-devinfo] Imap - UID problem

2001-07-31 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

G'day Michael Doerner,

I had the same problem with IMP after an update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2,
it was impossible to access an account from the webmail, in my case,
I had only 12 accounts, so it was easily done, I just had to
reconfirm all the passwords (through the webadmin interface), and it was done !

  good luck !

[e-smith-devinfo] SSH Security

2001-07-18 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

Hello ,

Will there be an e-smith patch for this ???

Weakness Found in OpenSSL PRNG Algorithm
 Summary
The pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) in SSLeay/OpenSSL versions
up to 0.9.6a is weakened by a design error. Knowing the output of
specific PRNG requests (including a number of consecutive very short
PRNG requests) would allow an attacker to determine the PRNG's
internal state and thus to predict future PRNG output. Typical
applications (including applications using OpenSSL's SSL/TLS library)
are not vulnerable to this attack because PRNG requests usually happen
in larger chunks. However, it is strongly recommended to upgrade to
OpenSSL 0.9.6b, which includes a fixed PRNG. If upgrading to 0.9.6b is
not immediately possible, the source code patch contained at the end
of this advisory should be applied.

Re: [e-smith-devinfo] PHP Upgrade Howto now on e-smith.org

2001-07-09 Thread Bertrand CHERRIER

Hello Dan Brown,

Just to add my 2 cents, on php.net, they say to upgrade from 4.0.4 to
4.0.6 that features many bug fixes from PHP 4.0.5, and is especially
much more efficient in its memory requirements ... souldn't it be
better to wait a little more for a RPM release of php 4.0.6 ???

and by the way could someone turn on the force reply to list option ??

Hello Garret Acott,

Seems you've never used it before ...
Go to the hardware panel,

  INTIP=192.168.1.3
  ipmasqadm portfw -a -P tcp -L $EXTIP 80 -R $INTIP 80

the way I understand it that will not work
the request for that ip will never be answered by the e-smith because
GA it
 GA hasn't
be assigned to answer to that address
this would be like telling your dog to get and deliver the nieghbors

the only way to make something like this work would be to assign more

 GA looking
for that address would come knocking.

216.17.146.X41, it works. I would like to assign the ip of
 GA 216.17.146.X39 to
my Linux machine on the network running an interior ip of
GA 192.168.1.3,
 GA where
   the e-smith is 192.168.1.1.

   INTIP=192.168.1.3

Typing the ip of 216.17.146.139 should take me to the server on my

Am I missing something? Am I dense?

You're right about it already being installed in E-smith.

As far as where to type them, actually, you can type the commands
GA in a

GA a
script that is run at startup.

To do this, you might research Basic Unix administration, or
GA init,
 GA or
the /etc/rc.d/... structure. But the easiest way is to just add
GA the
commands to the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local (which is the last part
GA to
 GA be
exec'ed during startup).
