Re: [Dhis2-users] ETL process with DHIS2

Thank you Uwe for sharing your experience. Better late than never  I agree with
you. It is effectively the graphical data-flow on ETL that is missing on
DHIS2...

It runs and does the job. Currently we are batteling with memory issues as I am

not only kettles fault.

I just found out that the MoH is also using kettle in their HMIS setting, so I
am quite confident to have a few ressource persons in the country for
sustainable hand-over.

Compared to R etc I like the graphical data-flow, which helps when discussing
transformations with users. You can actually see what is going into and is
coming out of a process with a mouse-click.

Our current transformations are quite generique for extracting from a custom
data-source, hoping to put them on the net after some clean ups.

Generally speaking I'd prefere to have more extensive ETL capabilites within
DHIS2, though, e.g. to better synchronise and monitor load-jobs, not having to
allocate memory to two java engines, consistent management of data-elements
etc...

I'll consider changing the port once the .war is fully extracted.

PS: to be fully specific I'm running a smaller server with:
- Ubuntu server 14.04
- 2 GB RAM
- Celeron D with >= 2.5GHz

You're right Knut!

I found the problem. In my case, I had cancelled the first dhis.war
download and started a second. *mv dhis.war tomcat-dhis/webapps/ROOT.war*
was copying the broken* dhis.war* file (colored peach). This can be seen
from the log excerpt below:

...

Only problem is I'm installing on a smaller server which is taking forever
to extract the ROOT.war file. Over 30 minutes now.

[Dhis2-users] New DHIS2 Installation white/blank screen

2016-03-24 Thread Adam Dawoodjee
Hello Communty,

I just finished installing DHIS2. When I run 192.x.x.2 (port 80). I get a
blank screen. The only clue I've got is the abnormal catalina.out log:

dhis@webserver:~$ tail -f tomcat-dhis/logs/catalina.out
at
java.util.concurrent.Executors$RunnableAdapter.call(Executors.java:511)
at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(FutureTask.java:266)
at
java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1142)
at
java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:617)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

Mar 24, 2016 5:04:31 PM org.apache.coyote.AbstractProtocol start
INFO: Starting ProtocolHandler ["http-bio-80"]
Mar 24, 2016 5:04:31 PM org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina start
INFO: Server startup in 966 ms

Seeing *concurrent *I thought perhaps I have two tomcat/java instances
running. But stopping tomcat and starting one instance leaves nothing
running (I get
*This site can’t be reached* in the browser).

Kindly help.

Re: [Dhis2-users] Orgunits tree

2016-03-24 Thread Jason Pickering
Hi David,

This is usually caused by selecting too many "Data capture and maintenance
organisation units" and has been discussed recently on the list.

You should only select the parent of the orgunits which this user should
have access to. So, if this user should only record data for a specific
district, you should select that district (and only that district). The
user will then be able to see this district, and all facilities in that
district.

Please see this section in the user manual:

http://dhis2.github.io/dhis2-docs/master/en/user/html/ch07.html#user_by_org_unit

and specifically section 7.1.3. User management, which explains how to
properly use this feature.

Best regards,
Jason

[Dhis2-users] Orgunits tree

2016-03-24 Thread mugume david
Hello team,

Has anyone faced the issue where orgunit trees are not well structured. I
just see the final nodes and not the full tree, which is annoying
especially when you have too many final nodes. (You can't know what belongs
to what).

Any way around this. Clearing cache isnt helping.

Thanks,
