Greetings and thank you.. Cpan came to the rescue as far as
getting everything working but I have another problem in that I can't
use fldigi3.0 or 3.02 or 3.03 and PSKMail1.0..

Rather than a long winded detail--two days of trying--can you
tell me if you are running from Slackware12.1 KDE or Gnome Desktop??
/or/ are you running from an Xterm?? I don't have either Desktop on the
subject machine.. If you are running from Xterm can you quote the exact
invocation you use to start the two programs?? I've tried a bazillion
combinations to no avail.. BTW.. FLDigi3.0 or 3.02 or 3.03 all work fine
by themselves, the npa binaries of 3.02 or 3.03..

 google for 'cpan perl'

Perl looks into the @INC array to autoload perl modules, and will tell you
 when it cannot find it.

 Hope this helps a bit,

that Cpan existed.. I have it all together now but with a super
problem.. Please see my post to Stephen for details.. Appreciate!!

What exactly is the problem Hal? What do you mean, 'can't use'?

KDE and Gnome are just window managers, The X server does the work.
It does not matter if you use KDE, ICEWM, Gnome, JWM or whatever window
manager, as long as the X server is running and your libraries are loaded.
The combination of libraries is tested on Debian based systems (mostly UBUNTU).
It is possible that some libs you find in Slack are not compatible. The error
messages on the console will tell you. To be able to help you we will need
to know the error messages. if there are no error messages it should work.

If you properly installed fldigi and pskmail the invocation (from any console
terminal) is:
fldigi
pskmail

Wrong choice of words; I should have said I'm not able to get
it to work. Maybe?? HI..

I have too many notes but at this point I am here: Have the
binaries fldigi3.0 that came with the PSKMail package and pskmail1.0 in
user space--in my case /home/w8mch.. Invoking, from either Xterm or
rxvt; fldigi3.0--I set the mode to psk250 and the modem config to PTT
/dev/ttyS1 and RTS with PortAudio checked.. This creates the .fldigi
files.. Shutting that down I startx again with Xterm or rxvt and invoke:
fldigi3.0 pskmail1.0 enter and fldigi appears as normal, a small
wait, then pskmail appears but the xterm window repeats Sound error:
Connection timed out the waterfall stops and the rig goes PTT.. (I have
Vol and Pcm turned off, or a dummy load connected.) A semi lock up
happens with the Sound error: line repeating forever it seems..

Trying; same versions; but using separate Xterms for fldigi and
pskmail; same as the 2nd xterm reports the psk1.0 Progam start
preceeded by the time and date of course.. Waterfall locked/stopped..

I've, also, tried the same above with FLDigi3.02.npa and
3.03.npa binaries; same..

Does this all make sense?? TIA Appreciate!!

Did you want or need a newline after the ?? In all cases; if I
press enter after the ampersand, fldigi will run... Hm. Bash '' means
in background. Is it normal running PSKMail to have it's window only on
the screen?? I've been invoking 'fldigi pskmail' on the same line,
except when trying the two Xterm approach.. Ugh..
