Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Publishing the 6.4 Calc Guide

Go for it Steve!

Thank you

All,

All chapters of the 6.4 Calc Guide have been updated and completed
their first reviews. Many have also completed second reviews.

In order to move our endeavours on to the 7.0 Calc Guide, I would like
to publish the 6.4 version as soon as possible.

There are eight chapters that still theoretically need a second
review. However the tracking spreadsheet indicates that none of these
chapters are currently being worked on by anybody. Also these chapters
went through a full review cycle at 6.2 and so the risk of omitting a
second review now doesn't seem great. Therefore I propose to start the
process of issuing the Calc Guide ("as is") with immediate effect.

This task will require a few days effort from me, as I have not
published one of our books before. Also I would like to enable the
alphabetical index at the end of the book and improve it to a useful
state.

If anybody has a problem with this approach, please advise as soon as
possible.

Regards,

Steve

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Updating front and back covers of guides

2020-06-15 Thread Olivier Hallot
HI Steve

My preferred approach is to change the digit 2 to 4 in the ODG file that
contains the cover for Calc.

Then I export the whole cover as SVG file and insert (replace image) in
the new Guide as SVG. I prefer svg over png or jpeg because of the
vector nature of the svg drawing and is supposed to be accurate, that
is, no blurr or artifacts.

Same for the back cover.

I all cases, check the resulting PDF quality of the covers.

regards
Olivier

[libreoffice-documentation] Publishing the 6.4 Calc Guide

2020-06-15 Thread Steve (GMail)

All,

All chapters of the 6.4 Calc Guide have been updated and completed their
first reviews. Many have also completed second reviews.

In order to move our endeavours on to the 7.0 Calc Guide, I would like
to publish the 6.4 version as soon as possible.

There are eight chapters that still theoretically need a second review.
However the tracking spreadsheet indicates that none of these chapters
are currently being worked on by anybody. Also these chapters went
through a full review cycle at 6.2 and so the risk of omitting a second
review now doesn't seem great. Therefore I propose to start the process
of issuing the Calc Guide ("as is") with immediate effect.

This task will require a few days effort from me, as I have not
published one of our books before. Also I would like to enable the
alphabetical index at the end of the book and improve it to a useful
state.

If anybody has a problem with this approach, please advise as soon as
possible.

[libreoffice-documentation] Re: Reviewer with macOS needed!

2020-06-15 Thread Steve (GMail)

All,

After much help from Drew Jensen and Gordon Bates, the two reviews of
Appendix A (Keyboard Shortcuts) to the Calc Guide are now complete. This
is a good achievement because this was far the most-changed chapter
since the previous issue of the guide. Many thanks to both reviewers.

The updated file is now in the Published folder.

Steve

All,

We need a reviewer with access to macOS to carry out a second review of
Appendix A (Keyboard Shortcuts) to the Calc Guide. (This is one of the
few chapters in the guides that describes features specific to each
operating system)

Could anybody help please?

Someone of the Dutch community came with the solution.
You first have to select the diagram and then the menu-option appears under Tools

[libreoffice-documentation] wrong menu option in Chapter 3, Charts and graphs of the Calc Guide

2020-06-15 Thread kees538

Hi All

Chapter 3, Charts and graphs of the Calc Guide 6.4 contains the
following paragraph.

Changing default color scheme
To modify the default color scheme for data series, go to Tools >
Options > Charts > Default Colors to specify colors for each data
series. Changes made here affect the default colors for any future
chart.

However the menu option Tools > Options > Charts > Default Colors does
not exist, and I can not find an alternative menu.

Please advice in the correct menu function.

Kind regards, Kees
