RE: [drakelist] 20M Net "just do it"
Hi, I'm a K1 in 5 land but I couldn't agree more. "just do it". If it doesn't work at whatever time or whatever frequency, you can move the whole gang someplace else. But talking about it and not doing it won't get anything done! Now, having said that, I won't be there this Saturday. Have to go to see BIGTEX at the TEXAS STATE FAIR! I will be looking for whatever frequency is decided on the following Saturday or weekend. If I still had my beam and my L4B going, I would gladly be a net control. But I don't think anyone wants a TR4 on a shoestring in an antenna restricted neighborhood being the control station. Support doing away with the CC & R restrictions! BPL is secondary!! K1MAN is required by US and International regs to check for activity *prior* to transmitting. If he transmits on top of an existing QSO he will be warned by Riley Hollingsworth, then fined, then if he continues will have his equipment confiscated and his license revoked. The simple solution is to publicize the Net, make sure sufficient KW signals are present to hold the frequency, then document carefully any interference from K1MAN or anyone else. No-one "owns" any frequency other than first-come first- served. Yielding a frequency to a Net or self-appointed neo-legal broadcaster is a voluntary not mandatory choice by the person or persons first on freq. I am not suggesting that we go looking for trouble but I strongly dislike anyone broadcasting on a Ham band -- do it properly get a shortwave freq. allotment outside of the Ham bands! [drakelist] SW-2 Remote Control
The SW-2 receiver offered as an option a remote control. I bought mine used with out that option. Looking at pictures of it, it appears to be a more or less standard remote control unit. I tried programming a couple different universal remotes to no avail. My question is, was there some type of interface required in addition to the reomte control or was the remote control that unique to the SW-2? I even tried using the codes of a Drake Satellite receiver on a couple remotes without any success. The manual makes no reference to the remote control. Hope someone has some help on this as I would love to control the receiver from across the room. Thanks Mike K8SWL
