several other features (dvi support, dualhead, etc.).

I just picked up a savage2000 on ebay. Has anyone checked the 2D
component yet? Also curious if anyone has done any begging for docs on
the 3D/video stuff yet. I think it's different from the rest of the
savage family. The 3d core has TL and bump mapping and I don't know of
the other chips do.

I just picked up a cheap one online as well. I've talked to an
engineer at S3/VIA and I should have enough info to fix up 2D and and
Xv, but I doubt we'll ever get 3D. To be honest I'm not sure S3 ever
got 3d working even in windows.

I'll probably commit the merge of the savage DRI driver to xorg cvs in
the next day or so. there are a few issues, but I should have them
worked out soon after.

Cool when I can starting to test ?

The good news is direct rendering is enabled with drm module from xorg
extras/drm and also with last dri/drm cvs.

you can grab my work-in-progress code here:
http://www.botchco.com/alex/new-savage/html/
it started out as a purely a dualhead project, but has since turned
into a full re-work...

Savage DRI DDX to xorg merged

2004-09-13 Thread Sérgio Monteiro Basto
Hi Alex and everyone

 http://www.botchco.com/alex/xorg/savage-dri-to-xorg.diff
the code still needs the develdri #ifdefs added.

Savage dri works quite well (again) on xorg 6.8, except on xv video mode
with some mpegs, as I reported at first time.

The good news is direct rendering is enabled with drm module from xorg
extras/drm and also with last dri/drm cvs.

Other test that I am waiting to test is:

X -indirect hostname :1

running on a XDMCP Xserver, now works but DRI is disabled (on second
screen), I don't know if it can be done better.
Errors:
(EE) SAVAGE(0): [drm] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI.
(EE) SAVAGE(0): DRI isn't enabled
(EE) SAVAGE(0): Direct rendering disabled

a big thanks,
