Fix Versions:

 4.1

  Minor

Reporter:

Usecase: admin wants to create an account for an end user through the DSpace XMLUI. There is a dialog to do this in the People page. However, the admin does not get to specify a password there. After creating the user this way, no email is being sent out. As a workaround the only thing the new user can do, or the admin in name of that user, is use the Forgot password dialog to trigger an email to the end user, allowing him/her to set the password. Either we need an admin to specify an initial password (not recommended) or just trigger the password token email after the admin creates a user account.

We tried changing the versions of java jars, but with no success.

Is any experience installing Dspace + XPDF on a linux Centos 6 with a 64
 bits processor?
Please guide us with the procedure and software involved.

Hi Felipe,

what does filter-media did'nt work mean exactly? Any error messages?

I've been always running DSpace and filter-media on a 64-bit machine
(on Debian, though) and never had a problem. There should be no
problem, regardless of the architecture, because what DSpace does here
is just call an external program and it shouldn't matter whether
that's a 32-bit or 64-bit ELF or a shell script.

2013-12-17 Thread Tim Donohue
Hello DSpace Commmunity,

One additional enhancement which we realized we accidentally left off
the (long) list of 4.0 features/improvements:

* Several improvements which help Google Scholar (and other search
engines) to better index your DSpace content and make it more findable.
These improvements were requested by the Google Scholar team.

More information on these specific Google Scholar improvements is now
available in the 4.0 Release Notes (look for the Google Scholar logo):
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Release+Notes

Congrats to everyone on this major release! It is amazing how many new
features, improvements and bug fixes were included. We have our highly
active community to thank, as well as our dedicated Committer team!

[Dspace-devel] DSpace Dev Mtg Tomorrow @ 20:00 UTC and JIRA Backlog Hour @ 19:00 UTC

2013-12-17 Thread Tim Donohue
All,

As usual, we have a DSpace Developers Meeting tomorrow (Weds, Dec 18) in
the #duraspace IRC channel at 20:00 UTC. To determine your local time,
check the world clock:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?hour=20min=0sec=0p1=0

The agenda is posted on our Developer meetings page at:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Developer+Meetings

The notes from last week's meeting are also available off of the
Meeting Archives area of that page.

As always, all our meetings are public. We welcome any developers or
non-developers to attend or just read along with the chat discussions.

If you are unable to attend, you can always add your own notes/thoughts
on any agenda item to the above wiki page.

== JIRA Backlog Hour ==

Immediately prior to our Developers Meeting, at 19:00 UTC, we will be
holding a JIRA Backlog Hour in #dspace IRC (note it will be in #dspace
and NOT #duraspace).

During this meeting, developers who are available will begin to work
together to tackle our backlog of Received tickets/bug reports in
JIRA. We'll be looking to do a quick analysis of tickets to help move
them along through our workflow. Anyone is welcome to join us (and you
are more than welcome to just join mid-meeting as well).

It's a great way to learn about how we work together to support DSpace,
and also a great way to contribute to DSpace software. Plus, you'll be
helping all of us to determine which tickets (old and new) could use
extra love attention.

Our current JIRA Received backlog is at:
https://jira.duraspace.org/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=truejqlQuery=project+%3D+DS+AND+status+%3D+Received+ORDER+BY+key+ASC%2C+priority+DESC

We hope to see you in IRC!

Thanks,

Tim Donohue

[Dspace-devel] Release procedure -- after the release is finished not quite complete?

2013-12-17 Thread Mark H. Wood
Should we not also promote the language packs to a new version, after
a major release? Should we not then update the language pack
dependency version ranges in dspace-parent?

The procedure notes that some versions may not be automagically
updated. This seems to refer to the versions of dependencies
dspace-api, dspace-jspui, etc. declared in the dspace-parent POM. If
this is correct, I'd like to note that in the procedure. (I wonder if
there's a way to automate these?)

Re: [Dspace-devel] Release procedure -- after the release is finished not quite complete?

2013-12-17 Thread Petya Kohts
Hello,

we're planning roll out of Dspace in the State Darwin Museum
(http://www.darwin.museum.ru/eng/) for the Archive of the museum
and we will need it in Russian.

As I understand there's no Russian translation for the latest
Dspace versions (3.2 and 4.0) but the effort to do it seems
to be feasible, so I'd like to get some pointers from developers
to make the translation which is easy to include into mainline Dspace
so the community benefits from our effort.

If there're Russians reading this list who would like to participate,
please get in touch - I guess we could split the effort, also
it would be reasonable to discuss some less obvious terms
to make the translation more natural for the Russian speaking user.

Anyway currently we forked dspace-xmlui-lang on github,
copied messages_es.xml to messages_ru.xml (the translator's
preferrable language is Spanish) and plan to commit
our translation to newly created fork and then make
a puill-request.

Is this enough or should we take in account anything else?

Thanks.

Petya.
