Check your tomcat - webapp folder to see whether the DSpace directory
exists. You may restart tomcat and try again.

hi! Udd,

(1) dspace uses tomcat for web access. For metadata storage postgresql database
is used and digital contents are stored in bitstreams in the DSpace assetstore

[Dspace-tech] License Change

2007-07-09 Thread Keith Jones

Hello Everyone,

If I wanted to change the license on a dspace installation I know this
does not change the license for items that have previously been submitted.
Is there a way to change the license for previously submitted items.

Thanks

This might not be a good thing to do en-masse. If your authors have
granted a license, you probably can't go and change it without having
them grant the new one, surely? Unless it's a typo or something...

cheers,

Thanks James,

What I'm faced with is typo type error and wanting to correct the problem
with out changing the underlying handles through a re-submission of items.

Re: [Dspace-tech] dspace item import

2007-07-09 Thread j.g. pawletko
Hi John,

Create a handle file named ³handle² that contains the handle information.
Place this file in the item directory before you run the import.
e.g.,

  dl-thor:~/archive_directory/item_000 jgp$ cat handle
  2333.1/HIDVL_TEST_001

  dl-thor:~/archive_directory/item_000 jgp$

hth,

[Dspace-tech] DSpace and RADIUS Authentication

2007-07-09 Thread Clive Gould
Hi

I came across the RAM - RADIUS authentication module on the DSpace wiki.

This is just what we need, but the documentation is all in Portuguese?

Has anyone implemented this and can explain in English what needs to be done?

Thanks very much

2007-07-09 Thread mfrodrigues

  Hello!

Unfortunately the documentation is in Portuguese, but i plan to
translate the entire documentation to English in a few days.

The software you have downloaded only accepts PAP and CHAP
authentication. I've made major changes and i will provide a new
module till the end of this month. This new module now accepts PAP,
CHAP, MSCHAv1, MSCHAPv2 and EAP-TTLS requests.

This module is not (yet) available on the project page because is
in a beta state. However i can send it by e-mail!

The new module will have installation instructions in English. All the
configuration is made in dspace.conf general config file and all the
logs are sent to the general log file. The installation method was
simplified to just a few lines.

I can send this new module to anyone, and i will be glad to give
some support or explain its features.

Re: [Dspace-tech] License Change

2007-07-09 Thread MacKenzie Smith
Hi Keith,

Assuming you mean the deposit license, this is just a local policy question.

The license that was used at the time of submission is in the
license.txt file in the
LICENSE bundle for each item in the archive. So it would be possible to
change
that license by hunting down each copy of that file and replacing it
(and presumably
notifying each submitter via their e-person email address that you've
done that).

While a DSpace deposit license is usually just considered to be an
understanding
between a university's faculty and its library (or similar
researcher/enterprise relationship)
rather than a legal contract, it does sort of defeat the purpose of
having one if the
repository managers go around changing it. Of course, you may have good
reasons
for doing just that, but it would be very uncommon.
