[Dspace-tech] Dspace Metadata

2008-10-28 Thread pavan krishnamurthy
Hi all,

This may be stupid question , but please bare with me .

I added a type called journalrt in the metadata registry. Now when i
try to submit a document , i am not able to see the journalrt as a
type .

What are the changes i need to make to add a type , when we submit a document.

Thanks
Pavan

That will largely depend on whether you're using the .jsp or the
XML/UI/Manakin interface, since they do this differently. The version of
dspace you're using is also relevant.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Dspace Metadata

2008-10-28 Thread Claudia Juergen
Hi Pavan,

the metadataregistry controls the available metadata schemata and their
elements. Adding an element to a schema does not add it to the submission
form, default item display, search and so on.

In order to be available during submission, an element must be defined as
a field in the appropriate form in [dspace]/config/input-forms.xml.

If you just want to add a value to the dc.type list you have to change the
list of value-pairs in [dspace]/config/input-forms.xml.

Hope that helps

[Dspace-tech] Problem Submitting Item

2008-10-28 Thread Evelin M. Vargas
Hello,

I installed DSpace in my organization a few days ago. I've created
communities and collections and the authorizations to submit but when trying
to submit, during the 1st step: describe this item and after choosing the
statements that apply I get the following message:

*Internal System Error*

The system has experienced an internal error. Please try to do what you were
doing again, and if the problem persists, please contact us so we can fix
the problem.

I've been looking for an answer but I can't seem to find any documentation
about this error when submitting.

Can you please help me?

Sincerely,

Evelin Vargas

[Dspace-tech] OAI URL

2008-10-28 Thread Kyle Kaliebe
Dspace Tech List,

In the transition to version 1.5, the default OAI URL changed from [base
URL]/dspace-oai/. to [base URL]/oai/. What was the reasoning behind this
change? Is there an advantage gained by using one over the other? Our
metadata is harvested by a number of different outside entities and we have
set up a rewrite rule in httpd.conf to redirect all requests from dspace-oai
to oai as a temporary solution.

For a permanent solution, we could update our registry with the harvesters
so that they harvest through oai rather than dspace-oai. Before we do that
though we wanted to ask here to make sure that future Dspace versions will
not change back to dspace-oai or some other name. Is anyone aware of plans
for this? Thanks.

[Dspace-tech] Collection - List - where to edit?

2008-10-28 Thread Gagan mandayam

Hello !

When entering a new collection, in the wizard, I do not want to display,
anything typed in 'Short Description' edit box.
But, *it still displays the string null, inspite of leaving 'short
description' blank.*
ie. it displays this null, when all the collections are being viewed in
the community/collection home page;

So, *Which JSP file to edit, to see only the 'collections List'*?

Acc. to the doc help [
C:/dspace-1.4.2-source/jsp/help/site-admin.html#editcommunity ], only
'Name' is mandatory;

In the collection entry wizard, I did disable the entry to 'short
description' 'Introductory Text',

as we want only the collection 'Name' only to be displayed.

thanks for any quick help!

gagan m,
Bangalore
