Re: [Dspace-tech] Allowing only pdf files
Hola Héctor, this can be achieved via the Bitstream Format Registry. You can mark formats as internal. Internal formats can not be submitted (only the admin can add bitstreams with internal formats to an item) and they are not visible to the non-admin user. Re: [Dspace-tech] How to Best Configure and Use LDAPHierarchicalAuthentication
Hi Stacy, Assuming that I don't find any problems, I would like to provide a write-up for others to follow, as Active Directory is so prevalent as an LDAP server but can be a tricky beast. Sometimes, it is just helpful to know that someone else has gotten it working, to give you the extra boost to keep trying. Would this be something useful for the DSpace Wiki HOWTO page? http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Category:HOWTO Is the DSpace Wiki still utilized, or is something going to take its place in the near-future? That sounds great - it would make a good resource to be in the wiki. A lot of people use the wiki, and the more content we can get, the more users it will attract. One of the best type of resources in the wiki are the HOWTOs. As far as I know there are no plans to replace the wiki, so your contribution would be valuable to the community. Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace secure passwords
I've not tried doing this, but after looking around, I would attempt the following as a non-invasive way of making this work. http://www.coderanch.com/t/413965/Servlets/java/Force-URL-redirect-from-http Create a security constraint in your web.xml, that will force certain URLs to use a secure transport. security-constraint web-resource-collection web-resource-nameSSL Pages/web-resource-name url-pattern/ldap-login*/url-pattern http-methodGET/http-method http-methodPUT/http-method http-methodPOST/http-method /web-resource-collection user-data-constraint transport-guaranteeCONFIDENTIAL/transport-guarantee /user-data-constraint /security-constraint If this doesn't work, the next best option would be to write a servlet filter that checks for secure transport, and redirects if it isn't - then map it to the login pages in the web.xml.
