Re: [Dspace-tech] Internal system error

Hi,

The error is implying that your metadata format registry is not up to date.
You might want to take a look at the following link:
http://www.dspace.org/1_6_0Documentation/ch05.html#N14D45

If you need further help for this please let me know.

Kind regards,

[Dspace-tech] dspace.url from ip to hostname, no change

2010-03-05 Thread Almudena Claudio

Hello,

We have changed the parameter dspace.url in dspace.cfg,

before, we had this:

dspace.url=IP:8080/dspace
dspace.hostname = IP

now,

dspace.url = hostname:8080/dspace
dspace.hostname = hostname

then, we have executed 'ant clean' and 'ant update', and restarted
tomcat multiple times, but we don't see any change.

Now when we call an URI (example:
http://hdl.handle.net/handle/10508/166), the system redirects to
http://IP:8080/dspace/10508/166. What we need is that, when we call an
URI , we access to http://hostname:8080/dspace/10508/166.

(We have created that document after the change)

Thank you very much and best regards

Jason All,

I don't know of a Manakin/XMLUI theme for mobile devices. But, I hope
someone out there has one?

I think this could be a great addition to a future version of DSpace.
So, if anyone has already developed a mobile device theme, or is
planning to do so, I'd encourage you to submit your work to our JIRA
tracking system:

http://jira.dspace.org/jira/browse/DS

It'd be wonderful to ship a future version of DSpace with an

I'm assuming you've removed the symbolic links, and the

 are in Tomcat's webapps tree.

After a successful build, I copy everything from dspace.dir/webapps/xmlui
 to $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/xmlui (i.e.cp -pR /dspace/webapps/xmlui/*
 $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/xmlui ).

Which looks like it would be cp -pR /usr/local/dspace/webapps/xmlui/*
 /svr/fedora/tomcat/webapps/xmlui
on your machine (assuming dspace.dir=/usr/local/dspace and
 $CATALINA_HOME=/svr/fedora/tomcat
 so dspace-config would have value=/usr/local/dspace/config/dspace.cfg

Everything (in both trees) belongs to our dspace user.

Is there any indication in Tomcat logs (catalina.out) about what may have
 happened to xmlui?

 Hope this helps.

tomcat does run as the root and it is a test server so for now that is fine.

To rule out that there is another webapps tomcat running the jspui here is

Re: [Dspace-tech] dspace.url from ip to hostname, no change

2010-03-05 Thread Peter Dietz
Hello Almudena,

Are you modifying [dspace]/config/dspace.cfg or
[dspace-source]/config/dspace.cfg ?

If you're modifying the config in [dspace-source] it could be that changes
aren't picked up until you do mvn package.
Or, look at some of the additional parameters of ant:
 [echo] -Dconfig=path/to/dspace.cfg -- Where your dspace.cfg
configuration
 [echo] is located
 [echo] -Doverwrite=true -- Will force update_configs to
copy existing
[echo] config to .old files when they
conflict with
 [echo] the new config. Otherwise,
new conflicting
[echo] file with be suffixed with
.new.

Here's the typical rebuild steps.
from: Documentation - Installation
http://digital.maag.ysu.edu/jspui/doc/ch03.html

cd [dspace-source]/dspace
mvn package
cd [dspace-source]/dspace/target/dspace-version-build.dir

[Dspace-tech] Statistics in 1.6

2010-03-05 Thread Poulter, Dale
Good evening all,

We have been able to successfully install 1.6 and the system seems to be
working great so far. However, after we successfully converted the old logs
we have been unable to import the new logs. After several attempts, we
regularly get the error below. Any suggestions as to the cause? Thanks,

bash-3.00# ./dspace stats-log-importer -i /dspace/newlog/dspace.log -m

Hi Dale,

What do you have set in dspace.cfg for 'solr.log.server'?

Hopefully it will be something like: '${dspace.baseURL}/solr/statistics'?
Assuming it is:

i) Have you installed the 'solr' webapp as 'solr' (some people rename their
webapps)
ii) What setting doyou have in dspace.cfg for dspace.baseUrl?

Thanks,

Stuart

Re: [Dspace-tech] DSpace 1.6 Upgrade Statistics

2010-03-05 Thread Stuart Lewis
Hi Sean,

It is probably safer not to put the intermediate files in [dspace]/log/ and
called dspace.log.* as the 'traditional' DSpace statistics reports still look
in that directory for dspace.log* files, and DSpace will still be writing its
dspace.log* log files there. Best keep them somewhere separate if possible.

I've tried importing the dspace.log file you sent, and it seemed to work fine:

gendiglt02:~ stuartlewis$ /dspace/bin/dspace stats-log-importer -i dspace.log
Processing file: dspace.log
Processed 309 log lines
 - 4 entries added to solr: 1.294%
 - 144 errors: 46.602%
 - 161 search engine activity skipped: 52.104%
About to commit data to solr... done!

(it lists 144errors, but that is because you have handles that don't exist in
my development copy of DSpace - otherwise no errors were thrown)

The error you mentioned in your first email 'Error seeking country while
seeking 3251471352' is thrown when the code tries to find out what country and
city the request was made from. It looks this up from an IP address. Could you
re-run the script, and when it throws one of these errors, look at the file it
is importing, find the line that has that value on, and copy that line into an
email? It is strange that there is a 10 digit number instead of an IP address,
so we need to work out where it is getting that from.

Thanks,

Stuart

The log files are only getting converted into an intermediate file format

it might be worth saving the converted files somewhere else, and as a
 different file
name, so as not to get confused between the log4j 'dspace.log' files, and
 these
intermediate files that contain less information ready to be imported into
 solr.

I did something like that: I copied all the original dspace.log* files
to another directory, then converted them with the intermediate files
ending up in my /dspace/log/ directory, which I then tried to import:

dsp...@esal-lr:~$ /dspace/bin/dspace stats-log-converter -i
/dspace/log/old/dspace.log -o /dspace/log/dspace.log -m
dsp...@esal-lr:~$ /dspace/bin/dspace stats-log-importer -i
/dspace/log/dspace.log -m

Could you send me a copy of one of your original dspace.log files, and the
corresponding version which stats-log-converter creates? I can then look at
them, and try importing them on my machine to see what might be going wrong.

Attached.
