[Dspace-tech] (no subject)

2010-10-14 Thread Alexander karagohn
I have created a new element (added in metadata registry, added in
dublin-core-types) but when in input-forms i set a new controlled
vocabulary i have problem described below:

In the submission process, by selecting subject category the extra
window is opening with the controlled voc displayed as it was set, but
when i select an option; the windows does not close automatically. it's
like it does not act by clicking anywhere in the extra window. When i
use the new controlled voc in an already existing element, there is no
problem.

Anyone knows how i can fix it?

Thanks

Another solution could be update the version of pdfbox. Using the last version
of pdfbox we have solved a lot of issues, it could work also in your case.
I will post a patch to JIRA as soon as possible, in meantime you just need to
update the follow jars and remove some unused import in dspace code
bcprov-jdk15-145
bcmail-jdk15-145
icu4j-3_8_1
fontbox-1.1.0
jempbox-1.1.0
pdfbox-1.1.0

Take a look at http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/index.html. Also Google xpdf AND

Btw, we are currently running DSpace 1.5.1.

[Dspace-tech] NOTICE: JIRA Migration Complete!

2010-10-14 Thread Tim Donohue
All,

The JIRA Migration is now complete! All DSpace projects are now
available in the DuraSpace JIRA (alongside Fedora Duracloud projects):

http://jira.duraspace.org/

Previous http://jira.dspace.org/; URLs should also now redirect you to
the new location.

*Special Notice for DSpace Developers Users*

You can now use the *same username and password* to access both the Wiki
and JIRA.

As previously mentioned, some DSpace Developers or Users may find you
will need to reset your password before you will be able to login (this
should only occur if you didn't previously have a Wiki password setup).

If you find you need to reset your password, please visit the following
page to reset it:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/forgotuserpassword.action

(Again, the above page will reset your password for *both* the Wiki and
JIRA.)

Once you have reset your password (if necessary), you should find that
you have the same permissions as before within JIRA for all DSpace Projects.

If you encounter any issues or problems with accessing your account, you
can email us at sysad...@duraspace.org for help, or contact me directly
(tdono...@duraspace.org).

Thanks,

Tim

On 10/12/2010 10:39 AM, Tim Donohue wrote:
 All,

This Thursday morning (Oct 14th from 9:30am-11:30am ET), DuraSpace will
be merging the JIRA instance for the DSpace Project
(http://jira.dspace.org) into the central DuraSpace JIRA
(http://jira.duraspace.org), used by Fedora-Commons and DuraCloud. This
migration will make it easier for cross-project development to occur,
while also providing a much needed JIRA upgrade to the DSpace Developer
 community.

Each of our developer communities can expect the following:

 === For DSpace Developers / Users ===

 * On Thursday, during the migration, the DSpace JIRA
(http://jira.dspace.org) will be continue to be available but will be
 READ-ONLY.

 * After the migration completes, you will be automatically redirected to
the new JIRA location. All previously saved links/bookmarks to issues
should redirect automatically to their new location. (However, saved
JIRA searches or filters may no longer work and may need to be recreated.)

 * Your JIRA Login information:

** If you have an existing Wiki Account (http://wiki.dspace.org), after
the migration completes you will use that same account password to
access JIRA. (If you have forgotten your password, you can also request
to reset it. More information about resetting your password will be sent
 after the migration has completed.)

** If you do not already have a Wiki account, your existing JIRA
username will be auto-migrated to the new system. However, your password
will NOT be migrated automatically. *AFTER THE MIGRATION, YOU WILL NEED
TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD.* More information about resetting your password
will be sent after the migration has completed.

=== For Fedora or DuraCloud Developers / Users ===

This migration will only minimally affect your access to the DuraSpace
 JIRA system (http://jira.duraspace.org).

The DuraSpace JIRA will be restarted briefly at the start of the
migration (around 9:30 AM ET) to perform a full system backup. After
that, you will be able to access DuraSpace JIRA as normal. However,
during the migration itself, JIRA may be slow to respond at times.

Please let me know if you should have any questions or concerns.

 Thanks,

 - Tim

Re: [Dspace-tech] dspace 1.6.2 logs owned by root

2010-10-14 Thread Pottinger, Hardy J.
Hi, Marvin. I'm a little confused, if your log files are all currently owned by
root, you shouldn't be able to start DSpace at all (it should fail to load, I
think), unless you're running Tomcat as root. The log rotation is coming from
the log4j settings for DSpace, and that can only ever run with the same
permissions/ownership as your Tomcat user. Could you elaborate on the issue
you're facing? Are you unable to load DSpace, or are your log files changing
ownership and you're trying to figure out why? I think we need more detail
before the community can help.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Error importing SOLR stats

2010-10-14 Thread Stuart Lewis
Hi Eric,

I can convert logs from 1.5.2 using stats-log-converter, but I get an
error from stats-log-importer. I can connect to
http://127.0.0.1:8080/solr using lynx, but nothing shows up on XMLUI

 The error:

 org.apache.solr.common.SolrException: Service Temporarily Unavailable

That is strange - your dspace.cfg says to use port 8080, but the importer is
not using that port. Could you update solr.log.server to use
http://localhost:8080/solr/statistics instead, and see if the error reports
that URL instead? If not, then there is second config file or solr.log.server
somewhere which is upsetting the process.

Re: [Dspace-tech] FW: DSpace: Internal Server Error

2010-10-14 Thread Kim Shepherd
Hi Kari,

What version of DSpace are you running?
Have you run the stats reporting tools?
eg:
[dspace]/bin/dspace stat-initial
[dspace]/bin/dspace stat-general
[dspace]/bin/dspace stat-monthly
[dspace]/bin/dspace stat-report-initial
[dspace]/bin/dspace stat-report-general
[dspace]/bin/dspace stat-report-monthly

(note: these statistics are different to the usage statistics can be viewed
for items, collections and communities in DSpace 1.6.x -- these are the
traditional administrative reports which are generated directly from your
DSpace logs)

Cheers,

Kim

Re: [Dspace-tech] What's wrong with the java version

2010-10-14 Thread Kim Shepherd
Hi Martin,

It seems as though there is still an old (version 1.3) java.exe sitting in
one of your paths (eg: C:\windows\system32), and this is the version of the
JRE that's being called from 'dspace' rather than your 1.6 version.

From a command prompt, if you run java -version, what version is reported?

The dspace script/batch file will try to use whichever java.exe it can
find first when searching %PATH% -- to ensure that the same version of Java
is used for everything, I'd recommend you update your %PATH% so that only
your 1.6 executables are found.

Note: We should probably test for %JAVA_HOME% (as we do with the web
applications) and use that version first, and just fall back on %PATH%
afterwards. If you are having trouble changing your %PATH%, or you have
other reasons for needing 1.3 version executables in there, reply to the
list and I'll send an updated dspace.bat that first checks %JAVA_HOME%

(Tomcat uses %JAVA_HOME%, which is why the web applications themselves are
working OK)

Cheers,

Kim

 Hi, everyone:
I've installed dspace 1.6.2, it's OK. Then I run dspace
create-administrator, but I meet this problem:
  Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime
Environment\CurrentVersion' has value '1.6', but '1.3' is required.
   Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.

I build and run with java 1.6. What's wrong?
Thanks a lot. And thanks Claudia Jürgen.
