Re: [Dspace-tech] switching locales

2011-12-01 Thread Nemiz, Elvi S.
Dear Keiji,

Hello again. I just wanted to ask your help regarding the switching of
interface language. I've seen that you have implemented it in your
repository (http://zuki-ebetsu.jp/xmlui/). I tried to apply the patches
found at https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-842 but I am unable to
display the language selection. I would be very grateful if you can show us
the steps how you enabled that feature. I've searched in the dspace-tech
mailing list and jira.duraspace and tried the solutions/patches there (
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-332,
http://www.mail-archive.com/dspace-tech@lists.sourceforge.net/msg05770.html)
but I can't make it work.

Thanks in advance and more power to you and the rest of the DSpace team who
devote their time creating features like this one.

Sincerly,

can anyone tell me if that means that the codebase is managed by the DSpace

Both JSPUI and XMLUI (Manakin) are available and supported.
Technically, there's no default, you always choose which one you use.

Subjectively, XMLUI gets most development these days (like Discovery)
but most features are available for both interfaces.

 can anyone tell me if that means that the codebase is managed by the DSpace

 http://www.tdl.org/about-tdl/projects/#manakin

That's right, it's community and Duraspace, more specifically a group
of DSpace commiters from instututions around the world.
If you're asking about XMLUI, it's been contributed to the same
codebase, it's not developed separately.

If what you're after is commercial support, not community support,

Re: [Dspace-tech] pdf over https in ie8

2011-12-01 Thread George S Kozak
Barrie:

There is a similar problem with older versions of Firefox (I don't recall
which releases, but it crosses http and https) and PDFs that are greater than
5MB. That's something that we encountered at Cornell University.

One thing you may want to consider is setting the Content Inline Disposition
Threshold in the dspace.cfg to force the users to download the bitstream
instead of viewing it inline. That wouldn't fix your problem, but at least the
content would be available to anyone no matter what browser they are using.

At Cornell University we have set this value to:
webui.content_disposition_threshold = 500
xmlui.content_disposition_threshold = 500

so that anyone trying to view a PDF greater than 5MB gets a message asking them
if they want to view the item or download it.

You could set that number lower to handle all your PDFs. I know that's not a
perfect situation, but it could give you a temporary workaround until some
better solution comes up.

Best wishes

[Dspace-tech] modifying item-view.xsl

2011-12-01 Thread MesArch MesArch
Hello DSpacers,

I am a newbie to DSpace. I am currently using DSpace 1.8.0 with XMLUI and
Mirage as theme. I am trying to modify the item-view.xsl so that one of my
displayed metadata links to a specific website for example www.google.com

When I add this code to the item-view.xsl file:

a
  xsl:attribute name=hrefwww.google.com/xsl:attribute
  xsl:copy-of select=./node()/
/a

it prints my metadata on the page correctly but it links to
http://localhost:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/www.google.com instead of
www.google.com ..

Any help will be highly appreciated..

Re: [Dspace-tech] upload.max in xmlui

2011-12-01 Thread Tim Donohue
Jose,

You are correct. The 'upload.max' setting is only used by JSPUI.

The XMLUI uses it's cocoon configuration to set the maximum upload size
(as that's a setting in Cocoon itself). This setting can be found at:

[dspace-src]/dspace-xmlui/dspace-xmlui-webapp/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/cocoon/properties/core.properties

This file contains all the Apache Cocoon default configurations that
are utilized by the XMLUI.

The specific setting you are looking for in that file is this one:
org.apache.cocoon.uploads.maxsize=10

By default it is set to 10MB maximum file size. But, you can increase
that value as needed.

 Hi Elvi,

 I had this problem when I had to implement a modified trail. I believe I
 had failed to copy one of the xsl:apply-templates/ in the
 modify-trail.xsl file. It's easy to drop a line.

Re: [Dspace-tech] pdf over https in ie8

2011-12-01 Thread Swanepoel, Barrie
Hi George

Thanks a lot for your insights! I will definitely look into that.

I found a Microsoft knowledge base article that can fix the bug in IE.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323308

I tested and it seems to work but is not easy to roll-out. Also impractical for
off-site users.

I am thinking of putting a disclaimer on our homepage and listing preferred
browsers.

At Cornell University we have set this value to:
webui.content_disposition_threshold = 500
xmlui.content_disposition_threshold = 500

so that anyone trying to view a PDF greater than 5MB gets a message asking them
if they want to view the item or download it.

You could set that number lower to handle all your PDFs. I know that's not a
perfect situation, but it could give you a temporary workaround until some
better solution comes up.

Best wishes
