 Hello Romulo,

there are translations for JSPUI/API, XMLUI which form dependencies and
are pulled during the build process.
 The translations reside in

 http://scm.dspace.org/svn/repo/modules/dspace-xmlui-lang/

You can find an overview of available translations at:

 XMLUI (latest pt_BR 1.6.2)

Updates on translations are always welcome, so if you plan to use a

 translation for the DSpace community.

Re: [Dspace-tech] Multiple bitstreams while submitting a new item

2012-02-06 Thread Nikolaos Konstantinou
Hi Claudia, Robert,

Thank you for the prompt answer! This solves the problem.

It seems that, commenting out the first step in item-submission.xml leaves
multipleFiles set to false.
I enabled multiple file submission by including the SkipInitialQuestionsStep
as step 1, and leaving the default values there as they are.

Best regards,
Nikolaos

Subject: Re: [Dspace-tech] Multiple bitstreams while submitting a new item

Hello Nikolaos,

you can add multiple bitstreams to an item during the submission process.
You only got to check the initial question:
The item consists of more than one file
during the submission process.

Hope that helps

Claudia Jürgen

 Hi all,

I am using DSpace 1.8.0. I notice that while submitting a new item, there
is no functionality for uploading multiple files (bitstreams) at once.

However, after uploading the file, at the page where you can edit its
metadata (edit-item) from the admin ui, at the bottom of the page, the
ability for adding/removing/ordering the bitstreams is present!

So, I would like to ask:

 1. Is there an “orthodox” way to enable multiple bitstream submission
during the item submission process? (I did not see such an option in
 dspace.cfg, input-forms.xml, or item-submission.xml)

 2. Are there any plans to include this functionality in future DSpace
 releases?

 3. Although this seems like a trivial functionality (DSpace is after all
an asset management system, so one would expect to find out-of-the-box
support for multiple files per entry), is there a specific reason why this
functionality is not present? Am I the only one with the need for this?

 4. In case of 3 NO’s in the questions above, are there any guidelines
for a custom implementation, without messing up much DSpace’s internal
 functionality?

 Thanks in advance,

Re: [Dspace-tech] Trouble deleting records online in DSpace 1.7.1

2012-02-06 Thread Claudia Jürgen
Hello Susan,

persistent identifiers in the sense of
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1737.txt
should be persistent and unique.

See section
Requirements for Uniform Resource Names
2. Requirements for functional capabilities

Global uniqueness: The same URN will never be assigned to two
different resources.
Persistence: It is intended that the lifetime of a URN be
permanent. That is, the URN will be globally unique forever, and
may well be used as a reference to a resource well beyond the
lifetime of the resource it identifies or of any naming authority
involved in the assignment of its name.

If your repository serves as a OAI-PMH data provider the oai identifiers
are required to confirm to rfc 1737 too, see
http://www.openarchives.org/OAI/2.0/guidelines-oai-identifier.htm

Hope that helps

[Dspace-tech] Question about security on items and search results

2012-02-06 Thread Cristian Romanescu
Greetings,

We have submitted an item within a private collection (only
Administrators can see it). The problem is that the search function
returns the item, even if I am logged out (anonymous). But whenever I
click on search results, I get this message:

You do not have the credentials to access the restricted item
hdl:123456789/63 .
The selected item is access restricted and requires credentials to view.
Please login to access the item.

Even more than this, item bitstreams (word documents) are searched and
the item is returned if a match is found.

Up until now we had a look over the code (AbstractSearch.java) and since
Lucene indexes everything (which is normal), we need to override
performSearch() to handle security before returning the search results.
Before going this road, was anyone hit this issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Cristian

2012-02-06 Thread Brian Freels-Stendel
Hi Susan,

No, the system keeps track of the highest assigned identifier and ups
it by one, so there shouldn't be a case where one is re-used. I think
the question is more to do with the purpose of an archive, and whether,
once an identifier is out in the wild, it should disappear. It all
depends on one's model, but if DSpace is being used as an archive (in
the librarian's sense), any item placed in it should be retained for
ever and ever.

Rahul,

Please see the DSpace Documentation section on Storage Layer. It
describes how DSpace stores files on the filesystem and metadata in the
database. DSpace does require enough local storage for both any
uploaded files and a database for metadata.

https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC18/Storage+Layer

DSpace itself runs as a web application, so files are made available via
the web. Again, take a look at the DSpace Documentation available at:

Re: [Dspace-tech] Question about security on items and search results

2012-02-06 Thread Pottinger, Hardy J.
Hi, Christian, as Mark Wood has observed, many people have run into this
detail in the past. I would recommend that if it is your intention to
create a dark archive, that you would be better served to create a
non-public instance of DSpace--lock it down via controls either on your
servlet container, or controls in your proxy (Apache, Nginx, etc.), if
you're using one. This would give you much better control over the
materials in the archive, and you would not be relying on the DSpace
application to enforce your access rules.

hdl:123456789/63 .

 Citando Claudia Jürgenclaudia.juer...@ub.tu-dortmund.de:

 Hello Romulo,

there are translations for JSPUI/API, XMLUI which form dependencies and
are pulled during the build process.
 The translations reside in
 http://scm.dspace.org/svn/repo/modules/dspace-api-lang/
 and
 http://scm.dspace.org/svn/repo/modules/dspace-xmlui-lang/

You can find an overview of available translations at:
 JSPUI (latest pt_BR 1.5)
 https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/I18nSupport#I18nSupport-AvailabletranslationsofMessages.propertiesforJSPUI

 XMLUI (latest pt_BR 1.6.2)
 https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/I18nSupport#I18nSupport-Availabletranslationsofmessages.xmlforXMLUI

Updates on translations are always welcome, so if you plan to use a
newer version, it would be great if you could provide an uncustomized
 translation for the DSpace community.

 Hope that helps

[Dspace-tech] xmlui wildcard policy admin tool does nothing

2012-02-06 Thread James Bardin
I'm using dspace 1.7.1 with xmlui, and the wildcard policy admin tool
appears to do nothing. The for submission goes through, with no errors
reported, but the authorizations are never applied. I brought logging
up to DEBUG, and I get nothing extra in the logs either.

I didn't see anything related in jira - any ideas what may be going on?
