[Dspace-tech] Dspace Shutdow message

2012-06-19 Thread Lewatle Phaladi
Hi All

Is there any dspace script or program that I could use to notify me if
dspace service, domain or web services is down on dspace system.

If dspace have some errors I do receive an email reporting that error
but if tomcat is down or apache I don't receive an error message, what I
do is to open the URL to check if the side, else student will be calling
me and ask why is the server down.

Regards,

Lewatle

Hi Lewatle,

this is really not a DSpace-specific question and there are simply too
many answers for me to answer adequately unless you specify your
particular needs.

If you want a locally hosted service, take a look at Nagios, Zabbix,
PRTG et al. If you don't require such complex monitoring, even a
simple ping script will do.
If you want an online service, just search for online availability
monitoring or some such, which will offer you services like
monitor.us, which are hosted on other servers.

[Dspace-tech] XMLWorkflow in DSpace 1.8.x

2012-06-19 Thread Jason Stirnaman

After thinking I had fully made the switch to XMLWorkflow after upgrading to
1.8, I discovered that I hadn't made all the necessary config changes. Now,
after updating to 1.8.2 and making the changes (see below), I no longer see any
artifacts of OriginalWorkflow on the Submissions screen, but I still don't
think the assignment of roles is working properly. I'm not entirely sure what
it's supposed to look like in the UI, but I'm not seeing the features for
assigning roles that I've seen in screenshots and videos out on the web. If I
Edit Collection, the options under the Assign Roles tab haven't changed at
all from the OriginalWorkflow. I don't see options anywhere for assigning users
to Roles defined in xmlworkflow config.
Here's a short screencast of me clicking through the Admin UI:
http://screencast.com/t/CrD0Gz2LIWq1
What should I be checking for?

I'm using the Mirage theme. I've upgraded my test site to 1.8.2, run the db
migrations for workflow, disabled OriginalWorkflow, enabled XMLWorfklow in
xmlui.xconf. I checked the xmlworkflow configuration to make sure there are
some workflows and roles in there, but I didn't make any changes there.

Thanks,

Re: [Dspace-tech] install Snoobi web analytics tool in DSpace 1.8.0 on Tomcat 6 webserver

2012-06-19 Thread Meijer, Rob
Hello,
Thanks for your prompt response. We use XMLUI, so I will have a look at the
templates involved!
Kind regards, Rob Meijer - NLR

Tomcat 6 webserver

Yes. We have already added Snoobi Analytics to DSpace (JSPUI and XMLUI).
To integrate with Snoobi first there is a question:

- Do you use XMLUI or JSPUI?

For the JSPUI the solution is simple, sending you as an attachment. Apply the
patch to the DSpace source:

$ cd [DSPACE-SOURCE]
$ patch -p0  [PATH-TO]/snoobi-jspui.patch

then must edit the [DSPACE-SOURCE]/dspace/config/dspace.cfg and add the
following line (at the end):

lyncode.snoobi.idhttp://lyncode.snoobi.id = YOUR SNOOBI ID

The XMLUI interface, despite of more powerful adds extra complexity to this
kind of changes because of the templates mechanism, so if you use XMLUI you
will need to understand about XMLUI templates and change it.

PS - You'll need to package (mvn) and update (ant) your DSpace source
distribution.
