[Dspace-tech] How to show pdf icons or link to bitstream in item-list for items with full text using mirage?

2012-10-05 Thread Nemiz, Elvi
Dear all,

I wonder how can I add a clickable pdf icon which links to the pdf of the
item in item-list/browse/search results just like in the theme Kubrick? I
am using mirage as theme and Dspace 1.8.2. Hope somebody can share their
experiences on how to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance and regards,

Re: [Dspace-tech] unselecting of Checkboxes

2012-10-05 Thread Anja Le Blanc
Hello again,

I have not got any answers to my question yet. Is my question not
appropriate to this list, or not understandable, or does nobody now the
answer? Please let me know.

Best regards,
Anja

 Hi All,

I have a problem with DSpace (1.8.2 xmlui) check boxes. I created a
class (extends the AbstractDSpaceTransformer) in which I create a set of
check boxes some selected, some not. The user can change both selected
ones to unselected and select others. On save I want to get the status
of these check boxes, it tried this by requesting
request.getParameterValues(checkbox name). Somehow I only get
parameters which were selected by the user but not the ones which have
been selected before the user did any change nor the ones which the user
 has unselected.

What can I do to find out which check boxes the user has unselected? Or
alternatively how can I get back all selected check boxes (also the ones
 which have been selected before)?

I hope I made my problem understandable.

 Many thanks for your help.

 Anja

Hi Anja,

you're posting to the correct mailing list and your question is
understandable. I just don't know the answer off the bat and I suppose
noone else does, either.

Dear All

I am using dspace 1.8.0 and running Mirage theme, I would like to take out the

search box was still available. Any idea is welcomed.

It's really up to you how you structure your XSL customizations (read:
your templates in stylesheets). In general, the only thing to pay
attention to is whether you're importing or including the xsl file
containing the original template because it afects template
priorities. But in this case, there's no pre-existing template, so it
doesn't matter at all where you define it.

An API - it doesn't make sense in this context. There are no function
calls involved.

A kind of an API maybe?

It's really up to you how you structure your XSL customizations (read:
your templates in stylesheets). In general, the only thing to pay
attention to is whether you're importing or including the xsl file
containing the original template because it afects template
priorities. But in this case, there's no pre-existing template, so it
doesn't matter at all where you define it.

An API - it doesn't make sense in this context. There are no function
 calls involved.

[Dspace-tech] Typical Cron jobs on DSpace 1.8 setups

2012-10-05 Thread Tim Ribaric
Hello All,

We are just putting the final touches on a DSpace 1.8.2 upgrade and I'm
wondering if we have all the necessary cron jobs running on the machine. (We
are using Discovery and XMLUI)

What I've got so far is via the wiki
(https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC18/Installation#Installation-'cron'Jobs)
and the section on system administration:

0 1 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace sub-daily
0 2 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace filter-media
0 3 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace checker -lp
0 4 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace checker-emailer -c
20 4 * * * vacuumdb --analyze dspace /dev/null 21

# Run stat analysis
0 1 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace stat-general
0 1 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace stat-monthly
0 2 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace stat-report-general
0 2 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace stat-report-monthly
0 3 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace stats-util

#Sitemap, discover update, embargo
0 6 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace generate-sitemaps
0 4 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace update-discovery-index -o
0 5 * * * [dspace]/bin/dspace embargo-lifter

Is there anything else? (I think that is everything but I'm not sure)

Thanks,
Tim

Hello Tim,

at first glance I would add
[dspace]/bin/dspace cleanup
in order to actually remove bitstreams that are marked as deleted from
the assetstore.

Not DSpace specific, but a backup of the database is common too.

Other cron jobs depend on your configuration settings (itemcounter) and
needs, like metadata qualitiy management via curation tasks.

Hope this helps

Re: [Dspace-tech] [Dspace-release] DSpace 3.0 - Test-A-Thon!

2012-10-05 Thread Sands Alden Fish
Hello all,

I just wanted to send a quick update from the Release Team. Due to some last
minute technical difficulties in the cutting of DSpace 3.0 RC1, we'll be
pushing back the start of the test-a-thon to Wednesday the 10th of October.

Apologies for the delay and we look forward to everyone's participation!

Hello from the DSpace 3.0 Release Team!

I would like to announce the official schedule for the DSpace 3.0 Test-A-Thon
and release schedule. We kicked the idea around a bit and decided that since
there is still much documentation to get in (which is of course necessary for a
good round of testing), we will be adjusting the schedule as follows:

 Thurs, Oct 4 : Perform 3.0 RC1 Release
 Mon, Oct 8 - Fri, Oct 19 : Testathon
Mon, Oct 22 - Weds, Oct 31 : Bug Fixing based on Testathon
 Thurs, Nov 1 : Perform 3.0 RC2 Release
Mon, Nov 5 - Weds, Nov 14 : Final Testing / Bug Fixing
Thurs, Nov 15 : Perform 3.0 Final Release
Fri, Nov 16 : Announce 3.0 Final Release

(Please see the bottom of this message for a list of features that still need
documentation. It is very important that we get these items filled out before
Monday, October 8th.)

This is your opportunity to get a preview of the upcoming 3.0 release, while
also helping us to fully test the system and squash any last bugs!

During the Testathon, you can help us by testing an early version of 3.0 on our
Demo Site (http://demo.dspace.org) or other available Testathon sites (TBA).

If you are technically inclined, next week you may also download a copy of this
early release (3.0 RC1) and install it on your own local development server.

Some key 3.0 features to be on the lookout for include:

 - Item Level Versioning
 - External Identifier Services
 - Advanced Embargo Support
 - Discovery enhancements
 - Configurable Workflow Enhancements
 - Statistics Enhancements
 - Type based submissions
 - OAI 2.0
 - Discovery for JSPUI
 - Bibliographic Export Formats
 - Elastic Search Statistics
 - Alternative Metrics
 - Numerous other features, improvements bug fixes!

This is only a quick sampling of what this huge release will include. A full
list of features/changes in DSpace 3.0 can be found at:
 https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+Release+3.0+Notes

We will be sending more details about the Test-a-thon as it approaches.

Thanks! We hope you enjoy your preview of 3.0! Don't hesitate to get in touch
with any feedback!

- The DSpace 3.0 Release Team

P.S. - Another big thanks to Tim Donohue and the rest of the 3.0 Release Team
for their dedication and work to make this release happen.

DSpace 3.x Documentation:
 https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC3x/DSpace+3.x+Documentation

The following seem to have little or no documentation at this time:

1. How to upgrade to 3.x -- nothing is written

2. Changes to Installation instructions in 3.x. Robin has been working on this
already, but some changes may still be necessary after the Maven Consolidation
work completes (plus need to review our prerequisites again)

3. OAI 2.0 / XOAI -- some docs linked off
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1202 (but they need to be moved). Also
need to search for all mentions of 'oaicat.properties' as this file is now gone
 replaced.

4. @mire Versioning feature (supposedly docs are coming)

5. @mire external identifiers service (this comes along with the versioning
stuff, but may need its own docs)

6. @mire Configurable Workflow enhancements

7. @mire Statistics enhancements

8. Type Based Submission (https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1127). Docs need
moving over.

9. CILEA Discovery for JSPUI (if needed)

10. Elastic Search Docs (supposedly coming from Peter)

11. Any other features that are new in 3.0 which are missing docs
