[Dspace-tech] Running Commands on dspace

2014-11-25 Thread Nada Abo-Eita
Hi All,

I have a question about running commands on dspace in general. From where
exactly we should run the commands ( from the source directory
[dspace-src]/dspace/bin/dspace *OR* from the installation directory
[dspace]/bin/dspace ), and what's the difference?

Example :
packager commands, index-discovery command, etc...

Re: [Dspace-tech] Running Commands on dspace

2014-11-25 Thread Claudia Jürgen
Hello Nada,

you run commands from the installation directory:
[dspace]/bin/dspace
This is your instance of DSpace. The source directory contains as the
name suggests the sources. There you may customize your instance e.g.
with overlays and the build and deploy it.

Hope this helps

Claudia

2014-11-25 Thread helix84
You must run [dspace]/bin/dspace. You shouldn't, and in fact won't be
able to run [dspace-src]/dspace/bin/dspace, because the script looks
for DSpace .jar files under ../lib/ and [dspace-src]/dspace/lib/
doesn't exist.

That sounds like something is configured incorrectly in your
/etc/hosts file on the DSpace server. Anyway, try one of these methods
to bypass the restriction:

Re: [Dspace-tech] Dspace 3.0 Installation Problem

2014-11-25 Thread helix84
The official dspace-rest webapp has been available in DSpace 4 and
DSpace 5. It seems like you're trying to build some rest webapp with
DSpace 3 (not even the official one, which likely wouldn't work,
either) because ours doesn't contain the ItemEntity class. You'll have
to get help from the vendor of your dspace-rest webapp and make sure
you're building it with the DSpace version it was intended for.

Re: [Dspace-tech] OAI harvest Date matching

2014-11-25 Thread helix84

 After migrating from DSpace 1.8.2 to 3.3, I've been told by one of our
 digital librarians that the OAI 2.0 returns records based on
 dc.date.accessioned. In the past, we were apparently providing items based
 on dc.date.modified (their preference). Interestingly, when I view records
 at /dspace-oai, it's listing date modified in the overview.

 I've looked through settings, made changes optimistically, and read quite a
 bit of documentation, but can't seem to affect the date setting.

It seems like the class populating the oai index from the database
doesn't really care about the order and simply takes items in the
order served by the DB:

Full import:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3_x/dspace-oai/src/main/java/org/dspace/xoai/app/XOAI.java#L203

Incremental import:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3_x/dspace-oai/src/main/java/org/dspace/xoai/app/XOAI.java#L178

Try changing these queries first and see if it helps. If not, perhaps
there is some ordering during output from the index (I doubt so, but I
didn't check).

Re: [Dspace-tech] Search/Browse for redundant metadata

2014-11-25 Thread helix84
Assuming you're using Solr for search. It seems like the author field
for search takes into account both metadata fields (i.e. doesn't
distinguish them):

https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3_x/dspace/config/spring/api/discovery.xml#L202-212

The default for browse in DSpace 3.x was still DB-based, but you can
try changing it to Solr-based, like in newer versions of DSpace:

https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3_x/dspace/config/dspace.cfg#L887-888

Regarding dc.date.issued, I think that one is hardcoded in many places
across the codebase and might not be so easy to change. I personally
would try to avoid the headache.

[Dspace-tech] Display of non-DC metadata fields in XMLUI

Hope I find you well. I have added some non-dc metadata field for capturing
thesis-based metadata as informed by
http://www.ndltd.org/standards/metadata/etd-ms-v1.1.html

(http://ir.uz.ac.zw/jspui/handle/10646/907?mode=full ). Now I want to use
XMLUI and I will appreciate any pointer on how I can make the additional
fields display in XMLUI.

My hosts file is simple.
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
thats it.
This is a very odd error.
I create an index.html and put it in /webapps/jspui
I access http://localhost:8080/jspui/index.html just fine
same for xmlui
but the second i put the index.html in /webapps/solr i get 403 forbidden.
The entire dspace works but i cant seem to access solr admin page.
Solr is running , i get stats up on the 14 000 items i have added.
Im running 4.2 and im out of ideas . any suggestions would be apreciated.
Ive opened a prompt , downloaded and installed lynx ... did a lynx
http:localhost:8080/solr from within the very machine dspace is running on
, in a prompt and i still get 403 forbidden.

  localhost which is odd . Do i need to turn something on to view the admin
  panel for solr ?

 That sounds like something is configured incorrectly in your
 /etc/hosts file on the DSpace server. Anyway, try one of these methods
 to bypass the restriction:

[Dspace-tech] problem with facet, solr seprator \n|||\n

2014-11-25 Thread Pablo Buenaposada
I have a discovery facet to show how many dc.contributor.advisor are in the
total items:
bean id=searchFilterObjectPeople
class=org.dspace.discovery.configuration.DiscoverySearchFilterFacet
property name=indexFieldName value=objectpeople /
property name=metadataFields
list
valuedc.contributor.advisor/value
/list
/property
/bean

the problem is that I have around 24000 items and this facet says that there
are 22000 times the dc.contributor.advisor ||| .
Of course, I have never entered an advisor like this, and if I click in this
counting it shows me 0 items So there is something wrong.

||| is the default solr separator, and dc.contributor.author have the same
separator in solr because making a query I see that author records have also
this separator, and when I make a facet with dc.contributor.author it works
good, no ||| appears in the counting.

I have the default discovery.cfg:

#---#
#-DISCOVERY CONFIGURATIONS--#
#---#
# Configuration properties used solely by the Discovery #
# faceted-search system.#
#---#
# Search Indexing #
search.server = http://localhost:8080/solr/search

#Char used to ensure that the sidebar facets are case insensitive
#solr.facets.split.char=\n|||\n

# index.ignore-variants = false
# index.ignore-authority = false
index.projection=dc.title,dc.contributor.*,dc.date.issued

# ONLY-FOR-JSPUI:
# 1) you need to set the DiscoverySearchRequestProcessor in the dspace.cfg
# 2) to show facet on Site/Community/etc. you need to add a
Site/Community/Collection
#Processors plugin in the dspace.cfg

What's happening?

[Dspace-tech] Date Range Search in DSpace 4.x and above (Re posting)

2014-11-25 Thread Iyer M
Hello Community Members,

We are trying to implement Date Range search and trying to integrate
Calendar in date fields.

I understand that its possible to make date range search by putting value
in mmdd to mmdd.

However, we want to put two fields for putting Start Date and End Date,
along with adding Calendar in both field for selecting date in ddmm
mode.

Request help of community for achieving this functionality. As it'll be
easier for users to make date range search in this manner, while compared
with crude mechanism of putting mmdd to mmdd input.

Thanks in advance.

I use the following in page-structure.xsl, not elegant but effective ☺

script type=text/javascript

$(function() {
$(
#aspect_submission_StepTransformer_field_dc_date_created ).datepicker({
changeMonth: true,
changeYear: true,
dateFormat: yy-mm-dd,
constrainInput: true,
maxDate: new Date(),
onClose: function(selectedDate)
{
$(this).blur();
},
onSelect:
function(selectedDate) {
$(this).blur();

});

$(#aspect_submission_StepTransformer_field_dc_date_created).attr('readOnly','true');
});

Re: [Dspace-tech] Importing command did not work

2014-11-25 Thread Terry Brady
I realized that I did not CC the list on my last reply. I am including the
list.

Looking at your sample zip file, I was able to add the item to my test
repository by making the following changes.

1. rename contents.txt to contents
2. for each line in the contents file, add tabbundle:ORIGINAL
3. Make sure that you upload the items in a containing folder (one folder
per item to be added)
4. Eliminate the metadata_[PubMed].xml file unless you intend to add it to
the repository (in which case you will need to add it to contents)

 What are the contents of your source folder?

 Do you intend to add the XML file you described as a bitstream or is it
 intended to be item metadata?

 I have typically used this command to import an image file or pdf with
 accompanying dublin core metadata. In those instances, my ingest folder
 contains a contents file and a dublin_core.xml file along with the
 image/pdf.

 After migrating from DSpace 1.8.2 to 3.3, I've been told by one of our
 digital librarians that the OAI 2.0 returns records based on
 dc.date.accessioned. In the past, we were apparently providing items based
 on dc.date.modified (their preference). Interestingly, when I view records
 at /dspace-oai, it's listing date modified in the overview.

 I've looked through settings, made changes optimistically, and read quite a
 bit of documentation, but can't seem to affect the date setting.

It seems like the class populating the oai index from the database
doesn't really care about the order and simply takes items in the
order served by the DB:

Full import:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3_x/dspace-oai/src/main/java/org/dspace/xoai/app/XOAI.java#L203

Incremental import:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-3_x/dspace-oai/src/main/java/org/dspace/xoai/app/XOAI.java#L178

Try changing these queries first and see if it helps. If not, perhaps
there is some ordering during output from the index (I doubt so, but I
didn't check).

Re: [Dspace-tech] Mirage 2 build problem - repost

2014-11-25 Thread euler
Hello Germán,

I have successfully deployed Mirage 2 in my test server using windows 7.
Have you tried running mvn clean -U package -Dmirage2.on=true? Regarding
about your post a few weeks ago about Mirage 2 theme without any styling, I
noticed that this happens when some tasks failed to execute during the
building of DSpace XML-UI Mirage2 Theme :: Local Customisations even though
it will still result in BUILD SUCCESS. I have installed all the
prerequisite softwares for Mirage 2 but I only use the option
-Dmirage2.deps.included=false after a successful build. That way, I know
that all dependencies for Mirage 2 were downloaded although I'm not sure if
my assumptions were correct. Building and deploying Mirage 2 successfully
for me is just a matter of trial and error but doing mvn clean seemed to do
the trick.

Best regards,
euler
