Re: [Dspace-tech] Any plans for result sorting in 1.5?

2007-07-07 Thread Christophe Dupriez

Hi!

I introduced a sort by reverse chronological order of publication date.
It it somewhat hard coded but if it is useful for you, you can follow
direction in:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=1728154group_id=19984atid=369984
(one index-all must be done to add the new field to your Lucene index)

It uses an untokenized index field from Lucene, so it is nearly
instantaneous. And because Lucene does this natively, it is easy to add.

I hope this will be remarked by one of the DSpace committer and that I
can receive directions on how we could parameterize untokenized field
indexes (for instance,
dates, beginning of titles, other NON REPEATABLE fields) that could then
be used for Lucene results sorting.

You can test it at http://www.destin.be/dspace
It is a test instance, with only 89 test records coming from Medline,
but with some of the added functionalities requested by Belgium Poison
Centre.

Have a nice day!

Christophe

The configurable browse work from Richard Jones (which I'm pretty sure
includes more powerful sorting for browse) will be included in 1.5. I
don't think there are any plans to change the behaviour of search
results though.

cheers,

Jim
