Hi all, I had a query related to Dspace metadata. If i have a Dublin Core encoded XML with me for a given item, can i upload it directly while submitting that item to a collection instead of entering the metadata manually?? [Dspace-tech] DSpace Metadata Support Survey
Dear DSpace Community - At the request of the DSpace Committers and Developers, the DSpace Community Advisory Team or DCAT (https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/cmtygp/DSpace+Community+Advisory+Team) has begun an effort to build a community consensus on improving the metadata support in future DSpace releases. Because there are many different issues, both from an organizational/policy perspective, as well from a code development perspective, we ask for your input to help clarify the priority and focus. Below is a link to a brief survey. For this survey we are most interested in identifying which challenges could and should be tackled first. Please do your best to indicate the highest priority level issues for your organization, recognizing that if everything is a priority then there may not be a clear starting point. So even if all of these issues are very important to you, please try to focus on which ones would make your life or the lives of your users and management significantly easier. Of course, improvements to metadata support in DSpace can move along faster the more people we have working on the effort. Included in the survey are questions regarding whether you or your organization are willing to contribute time towards the effort, either as a repository manager (as a subject matter expert) or as a developer. We welcome all help, even it if is just to review the progress and provide feedback. Thanks in advance for your participation! Re: [Dspace-tech] Dspace Metadata
Hi Pavan, I'm a bit lost in translation and not sure what your problem is. As far as the submission process (not batch import) is concerned, there are three places relevant to changes in metadata fields: - the metadata registry - the input-forms.xml - the collection specific template Any metadata field must be defined in the metadataregistry before one can use it in DSpace. Thus if you want to use a metadata field which is not in the default registry, you got to enhance the registry first. The fields displayed during submission are defined in the input-forms.xml. Details on the configuration of the submission process can be found in the DSpace Documentation [dspace]/dspace/docs/html/ch05.html#N11B1F Furthermore you can define one template per collection. Any item submitted to this collection will inherit the metadata in the template. Hope that helps Claudia Jürgen pavan krishnamurthy schrieb: Hi, Thanks for that reply.
