You are correct that I'm referring to the Live CD below. I have a tried this on my PC and the network was ready and I was able to get to the internet. But on another PC the network connection was not detected. She is using a new Dell E6500 laptop and we wonder if the unbuntu does not know the network driver. What are your thoughts? Hi Sue, Unfortunately I suspect that this issue would be best dealt with on a Ubuntu forum. The LiveCD is now almost a year old, so isn't the most up to date version of Ubuntu. It may be possible to upgrade network drivers on a LiveCD, but these would be lost each time you rebooted. We're hoping to build a LiveCD for the release candidate of version 1.6 in a few months time, and that will use a later version of Ubuntu (or other distribution) so hopefully that will work when it is released. Two places I know of for meta/data are: 1/ the location of the assetstore for as defined in dspace.cfg for data 2/ and a dump of the backend database for metadata Perhaps, stopping DSpace, copy the meta/data, transfer, restore are the sequence of steps you should follow. Using rsync() or robocopy.exe across the network or to a large capacity portable device is an option for the transfer stage.
