[Dspace-tech] License Change
Hello Everyone, If I wanted to change the license on a dspace installation I know this does not change the license for items that have previously been submitted. Is there a way to change the license for previously submitted items. If your authors have granted a license, you probably can't go and change it without having them grant the new one, surely? Thanks James, What I'm faced with is typo type error and wanting to correct the problem with out changing the underlying handles through a re-submission of items. Re: [Dspace-tech] License Change
Hi Keith, Assuming you mean the deposit license, this is just a local policy question. The license that was used at the time of submission is in the license.txt file in the LICENSE bundle for each item in the archive. So it would be possible to change that license by hunting down each copy of that file and replacing it (and presumably notifying each submitter via their e-person email address that you've done that). While a DSpace deposit license is usually just considered to be an understanding between a university's faculty and its library (or similar researcher/enterprise relationship) rather than a legal contract, it does sort of defeat the purpose of having one if the repository managers go around changing it. Of course, you may have good reasons for doing just that, but it would be very uncommon.
