[Dx4win] Filtering by date range?
I am in the process of setting up for LOTW. I've used my callsign from several QTHs and want to create separate ADIF files for each one by a date range. From what I can tell, filtering by date only results in a greater than result. Is it possible to create a file/filter by date range with a start and end date? Tnx Mel. Simple and elegant! I didn't know that could be done. I am in the process of using TQSL to convert the logs for upload for LOTW. TQSL also includes a date range filter, so you can exclude QSOs from before and after specified dates from the ADIF or Cabrillo file, if you didn't do it in your export from DX4WIN. Another note - warning of sorts: TQSL is VERY slow. My machine is a Dell P4 2.2 Ghz and it's converting at about 20 QSOs/second. The current selection I'm converting contains 82K QSOs, so it's going to be a while. If you have a big log and/or a slow computer, you may want to run it overnight. 73, Barry-- Barry Kutner, W2UP Internet: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Newtown, PA Frankford Radio Club

Frankly, the only thing Lotw is going to be good for is WAS... It's so damn complicated for non-US stations to register I suspect it will be a domestic database... [Dx4win] I'm sure I'm not the first...
Hi Dick I have my ordinary call SM4WGB in one logbook, saved as sm4wgb.dxl My contest call SM4W is in another logbook saved as sm4w.dxl When I want to see the combined DXCC or IOTA result I start one of them. Then I merge the other by File | Import/ Export, then File | Merge DX4WIN log where I select the other log. Then I save the new combined log as sm4wwgb.dxl You can chose any name... In that manner I can see whichever award I like, DXCC, IOTA or ... That is one exemple, another is by giving groupnumbers, but I prefer to keep the two logs separate and merge them when needed. I am told I do not need another registration. Best 73s de Lars / SM4WGB with SM4W in contest I'm sure I'm not the first to get a vanity call sign while having a ton of logged entries under another (same QTH, just different call sign). I have thousands of QSOs logged under W6OLD and now I need to start keeping track of QSOs under K7VC. I am reluctant to just start adding new QSOs as K7VC to my existing log, but I don't want to lose my hard-earned award progress, either. What is the best way to approach this? Also, do I need to obtain new DX4WIN registration info for my new call sign? (I've paid for V6 registration, even though I'm still using 5.03.) Thanks for all advice. 73, Dick -- Dick Flanagan K7VC NV SM E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

Sacrifice personal security in favour of Lotw security... I think not! Cheers... Isn't that a bit overdrawn, Mel? Other than DXpeditions, the only requirement for non-US stations is pretty straightforward -- Every non-USA station requesting a certificate for Logbook of the World must supply a copy of his or her Amateur Radio license in addition to a copy of one other government-issued document indicating his/her identity. Such an additional document might be a driver's license, for example. How many personal documents of that minor level of importance do you send every month to someplace or another by mail? Sure, it's a bit annoying to have to wait for mail notification of your initial certificate password, but the ultimate payoff would seem to be well worth it, for US and non-US stations alike. If I were LotW's authors, I'd be very concerned that one successful fraud could undermine the entire enterprise. 73, Pete N4ZR The World HF Contest Station Database was updated August 30. 129 stations were added or updated. To convert my log from DX4Win to the ADIF needed by LOTW, I exported from DX4Win with filters for the various modes. I have always placed the actual mode for the various soundcard (PSK) modes in the QSO Notes field so it was easy to filter them out. When done with the exports I was left with a bunch of files with mode extensions. I used filenames like: k6mmc_ssb.adif, k6mmc_cw.adic, k6mmc_psk31.adif, k6mmc_hell.adif, etc. Within TQSL before signing each file I made the propper mapping from PSK-MT63, PSK-HELL, etc. This required me to change the TQSL ADIF mappings between all the different modes I had recorded as PSK within DX4Win. On the LOTW site it was a simple process to upload the files, one at a time. 73, Michael

After making this change, and customizing the TQSL program to accept PSK3 for mode PSK31, it went with no hitches! So how do you do that?
