[Dx4win] THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED

2004-05-01 Thread Mel
You might share how you managed to recover everything Stu. When I spoke with
you from work, it was looking rather gloomy.

 MY RECCOMMENDATION IS MULTIPAL BACK-UP'S

A lesson that is learned by far too many AFTER they have had a data loss.
Others take note!!!

Another recommendation... From time to time, e-mail a copy of your log to
yourself at work (Where backup is normally secure) or to a friend. It's
always good to have some data off-site also.

Subject: [Dx4win] THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED

I would just like to thank everybody that responded to my
 hour of need.

I had posted a few days ago:

Can anybody give me some help to recovery 2 months worth of
 lost QSO's? I went to make a country up-date (KC6 to T8) and
lost 2 months of QSO's. I have no idea how one had any
correlation with the other. My log reverted back to March 2,
2004. No idea why it even picked that date. Is the
information on my hard drive somewhere and if so how can I get to it?

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

 Thanks,
 73, STU W6TA

With the help of all, I was able to recover about 99% of my lost data.

I would like to pay a special thanks to Mel (VE2DC)
and a EXTRA special thanks to Jim (AD1C) for their time and
patience during those very critical moment. If you have ever
lost log data you know what I'm referring to. If you haven't,
I hope you never have to go through it.

 MY RECCOMMENDATION IS MULTIPAL BACK-UP'S.
I now am using a IOMEGA automatic back-up program that
produces up to 99 back-up copies on a rotation bases and
up-dates every time I do a SAVE (Alt. S). This will increase
my chances of recovering lost data tremendously. It's very
cheap insurance, along with the fact it's hard to put a price
tag on stress and panic while experiencing losing log data.
It's a horrible feeling, trust me!!

Thanks once again to one and all for your input and suggestions.

 See you in the pile-up's!!

 Best 73 es GUD DX,
 STU (W6TA)

[Dx4win] CAT

2004-05-01 Thread Paul GRANGER
Hello all

Using a Yaesu FT1000MP Mark V, I have just upgraded from v5.03 to v6.02
of DX4Win.
Previously, the CAT light was on continuously on the rig.
Now it blinks all the time, also creating some noise when it does (on 20m).
Anyone using the same rig, having the same trouble or having found the
solution ?
Thank you for enlightning me (us ?)

[Dx4win] CAT

Paul
In DX4win go to File/Preferences/Radio and change the Poll rate (ms). This
will change the rate in which DX4win polls your MKV. I have mine set at 1000
ms for my Yaesu FT-1000MP MKV and it works fine. With this setting the CAT
light will be on every second, which is fast enough.

As for the noise, are you using shielded control cable (DB9) between the MKV
and your computer. If not I would give it a try.

I can't get the 1010 award in my custom awards window. It's there in the
dx4win.awd file in the save folder -first one in fact - but I can't get it
to come up in the menu that comes up in the custom awards box. Running
6.02.

What am I doing wrong??

2004-05-01 Thread L. Sica
Is there a way in 6.03 to import from the ARRL LOTW report? Some way where
it will update (and only update) the Upl Conf flag? If I simply import the
ARRL file into DX4Win, it of course replaces ALL files in a record, and I'd
rather not have to manually set the Upl Conf flag on 500+ QSO's.

[DX4WIN] Upgrade instructions

2004-05-01 Thread Paul van der Eijk
Rod,

What you downloaded was meant for the beta testers. This is not the
final version and it is incomplete. So if you don't wont do install / delete /
reinstall, don't bother with this version.
