[Dx4win] DX Summit has a new home

2008-05-23 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C

The new DX Summit web site:

http://www.dxsummit.fi

is not compatible with DX4WIN. Is anyone using DX Summit (HTML) to get
their DX spots, or does everyone connect via Telnet or TNC?

If you're still using DX Summit, please let me know, so Paul can fix the
program. Otherwise I will remove these entries from the DX4WIN.TCP file:

  1000 spots OH2AQ,http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs/dx1000.html?
25 spots OH2AQ,http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs/dx25.html?|3
   250 spots OH2AQ,http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs/dx250.html?

There *may* be an IP address one can use to Telnet into the new DX
Summit site (I guess the old OH2AQ site had such a feature, though I am
unaware of the address). If I find the new address, I will surely
include it in the list.

[Dx4win] Question?

2008-05-23 Thread w1ioo

I have two questions:

1. I know what C, W, M stand for. What does L stand for?

2. Is there a way to export the Countries listing so I could import it into
an EXCEL spreadsheet so that I could have a print out of Prefixes, Country
names not worked, Mailed, and worked. I don't want the confirmed.

Thank you very much.

Wally

L stands for Label (qsl)

Yes there is when you make the proper listing in your Logbook report
Right clicking in your logbook gives you the possibility to edit this
listing

If you don´t wan´t the confirmed you have to make a selection with F8 first

After that you have to write a csv file that can be imported in Excel

In the manual is this explication also

[Dx4win] CPU usage

2008-05-23 Thread Erkki Heikkinen
A while ago I had a HD crash on my laptop. After getting it back with XP
Pro reinstalled, it started behaving strangely with DX4Win. Once in a
while (3-4 times per minute) the CPU load is nearly 100%, screen
updating is hesitating and cursor freezes momentarily.

When I stop the radio there is no problem and the CPU load is only a few
percent. I tried different polling intervals from 1000 to 5000 ms - no
difference.

I was reading the archives and found that this has happened to others,
but there was no clear solution. I tried to stop things in the Device
Manager and restart them - no difference.

There is no difference between DX4Win 7.04.04 and the previous version,
so DX4Win is obviously not to blame.

If I remove Windows update KB908531 (discussed in the archives), it will
destroy a lot of other patches which came later, so I have not done
that. Disabling the antivirus program does not make any difference,
either.

DX4Win works, but I do not like these hesitations which can take up to
three seconds.

The CPU is a 1.4 MHz Celeron with 750M user memory (service Pack 2 and
all the patches installed)and the radio is IC-756PROIII through MIcroHam
Keyer virtual COM port running latest router software.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

RE: [Dx4win] CPU usage

2008-05-23 Thread Erkki Heikkinen
Further to my previous (see below):

Looks like I found the culprit. All seems to be well when I switched
from CW Announce to Voice Announce. What is interesting is that I have
only new countries set for announce and there has been no spots for the
three missing ones... Maybe the CW announce is trying real hard to find
something to announce, hi. I know absolutely nothing about computers,
but I have been using DX4Win succesfully with CW announce since v. 1.6
(or something like that).

However I would prefer to have the CW announce available, so that it can
activate my 70 cm handy with VOX and pass the announce to another 70 cm
handy in my pocket when I am not in the shack. Voice announce should
work ok, but CW seems to be more readable in the garden...

A big relief.
