Re: [Dx4win] Fwd: Re: Updates on a more positive note!
I'm amazed at the tone of voice in these e-mails. It was sometime in the late 80's or early 90's when I met Paul and became Customer 0 for DX4WIN. How many one-man amateur radio software products do you know of that are still offered after over 20 years? I am currently using Logger32, because it offers features that I need which DX4WIN does not, but DX4WIN remains on my PC. If Paul decides to release a version that has these things, I will certainly be back. If not, then I wish him a happy retirement and lots more time for the grandkids. 73, Pete N4ZR Check out the Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com. We have FINALLY heard from Paul and aware of the direction DX4WIN is taking. Well boys I have supported Paul and DX4WIN speaking to others informing them what a great dx logging program it is and quite frankly I cannot do that any longer especially after what Paul had to say today. Therefore I downloaded and installed LOGGER 32 and like all new programs there is quite a learning curve but I will be much further ahead in another month than I will be with DX4WIN five years from now. Have been loyal to DX4WIN but it's over. Some will be happy there will no longer see any more posts from n4dsp! LOL. Hate to see such a great dx logging program coming to it's end and it's troublesome. Made the ARRL Honor Roll with this program from my first contact to #334. Paul,SELL THE COMPANY. A few comments though 1. Did you see any inclination or willingness to incorporate them into DX4WIN? 2. Although it is unlikely he would have every rig produced, it should be noted that I, for one, attempted to develop a rig file for the FT3000...sent many messages to him for assistance...and never heard back. I had a Yaesu 'demo' FT3000 shipped to me and it sat here for months awaiting assistance and nothing...this was a while after his personal moveyes, the rig files are rather basic but how DX4WIN handles these files are hard coded and cannot be user defined or changed. I have quite a bit of documentation in this issueas do others. We are/ were willing to work with him but the effort hasn't been reciprocal. 3. LOTW isn't going away...or GlobalQsl...or EQSLincorporating easy interface to these systems seeming would be a selling point for DX4WIN. Without them, DX4WIN is severely lacking. 4. As in number 3, QRZ.Com is here to stay...and most of your users access it routinely. Paul, this isn't an attack on you...and regrettably there has been some severe tone between a few users...hopefully, we can get back on a more positive, productive track. However, this thread is an indication of the frustration of your loyal, paid users. We want DX4WIN to succeed but there needs to be some indication that DX4WIN is alive and well...and will be supported and improved. Yes... we could all move to a different platform ...we have a number of other choices...but we have been sticking with DX4WIN but without finite information from you, Paul, we've been in an informational vacuum. Paul, incorporating user input and enhancing DX4WIN appears to be a win/win situation. We look forward for more information as to the direction and future of DX4WIN. 73 Lou N2TU On 1/5/2014 3:44 PM, Charlie Cunningham wrote: Amen! -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-bounces@ mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Ken G Kopp Sent: Sunday, January 05, 2014 3:24 PM To: Dx4win@Mailman.Qth.Net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Fwd: Re: Updates on a more positive note! John, I can understand your frustration. However I disagree that the steps to upload a log to LoTW are many and confusing. There are two steps: 1. LoTW | Export to LoTW using DX4WIN 2. Sign and upload log using TQSL (signing is now integrated with uploading) I used to monitor another popular logging reflector. That program integrates the LoTW upload into the program. Would you like to guess what half the list traffic consists of? That's right, why didn't my upload to LoTW work. The DX4WIN reflector would quickly degenerate into the same. By keeping the export and upload separate, it's easier to pinpoint where the problem is. If the problem is with DX4WIN, then this is the reflector to ask. However, if the problem is with LotW, then *that* becomes the reflector to ask. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Dx4win] Feature request
Paul, First of all I like to express my appreciation as a DX4WIN user for a great logging program that fits my specific needs. I do maintain my home log and that of all my DX operation using group numbers/names. Printing QSL requests I do in one run for all my DX calls and print the group name on the label. Next I take the printed label from the sheet, take a card according to the group name on the label and stick them together. This works great. However, for SWL cards it does not work as the group name (or #) is not printed on the label. Therefor I have to pick the DX QSL based on the date and look it up from a list to know what operation it was. My request: can de group name also be printed for SWL QSL's?
