Re: [Dx4win] lotwreport from LoTW - missing extension
-> Now looking at Firefox release notes and settings to see if I can find out what has changed. This just started with a recent Firefox update and I cannot figure out how to go back to an earlier version of FF for testing. It seems to be the version 102 from 6 July that has the challenge. Older versions can be downloaded from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-firefox I downloaded version 101 in English and that version did have the adi extension when download the lotwreport file. If you download an older version of Firefox to fix the problem, remember to uncheck the automatically update of Firefox. 73 Joe, OZ0J https://english.oz0j.dk -Oprindelig meddelelse- Fra: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net På vegne af Mike Cizek W0VTT Sendt: 17. juli 2022 22:33 Til: 'Wayne M' ; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Emne: Re: [Dx4win] lotwreport from LoTW - missing extension This appears to be a problem with the way Firefox and LoTW talk to each other. First thing I checked was to make sure the Windoze setting "Hide extensions for known file types" was still unchecked. It is. Downloading an .ADI file from Clublog shows the .ADI extension. Downloading an .ADI with MS Edge (Win10) or Safari (IOS) shows the .ADI extension. Downloading files from other sites with Firefox shows the proper file extensions. Now looking at Firefox release notes and settings to see if I can find out what has changed. This just started with a recent Firefox update and I cannot figure out how to go back to an earlier version of FF for testing. In the grand scheme of things, it's trivial to type in .ADI when downloading the report. The trouble is remembering to do it. 73, Mike Cizek W0VTT -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Wayne M Sent: Sunday, 17 July, 2022 10:09 To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] lotwreport from LoTW - missing extension try looking for this. in the task bar search box for c:\ then in the window go to View>, then show >then File name extension. -> This appears to be a problem with the way Firefox and LoTW talk to each other. Agree, and the error is also in Windows 11 and Firefox version 102, 64 bit. 73 Joe, OZ0J -Oprindelig meddelelse- Fra: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net På vegne af Mike Cizek W0VTT Sendt: 17. juli 2022 22:33 Til: 'Wayne M' ; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Emne: Re: [Dx4win] lotwreport from LoTW - missing extension This appears to be a problem with the way Firefox and LoTW talk to each other. Re: [Dx4win] Lotw and dx4win
Thanks Mark! I wonder why this recent Firefox change only affects ADI downloads from LoTW? 73, Mike Cizek W0VTT -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of ON5GM Sent: Monday, 18 July, 2022 00:48 To: DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Lotw and dx4win 1 - download and install Content-Type Fixer 2 - Start Firefox. At the top right you will see an icon with a hammer, click on it to see the menu of Content-Type Fixer 3 - Check Auto-start with Firefox and check Follow my settings (inline) 4 - Log into LOTW and download your log file. At the moment it is still without extension but this action is necessary to get the extension adi in the log of Content-Type Fixer. 5 - click again on the hammer icon and click on Add/Edit Content Types in the menu 6 - you now see the Log of Recent Requests. Under the header Action Tasks for the extension adi you will then probably see something like this. : C-T: Updated CT header from "application/x-arrl-adif; charset=iso-8859-1" to "application/octet-stream". 7 - Click the Add button, select the input field and type in application/octet-stream and then click the Update Content-Type button. 8 - If you download again, the file should have the extension .adi. You only need to do this once. __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
