[Dx4win] Laptop upgrade XP SP3 to Win7
Hi a bit of advice please. I am in the process of retiring an old PC used when travelling and operating from XE. I have DX4win uploaded and running as well as CCUser cluster software connected to VE7CC-1. I have transferred all (I think) of the setting from one laptop to the other but when DX4Win will not see the data from CCUser. From the drop down menu in the Packet window I select LOCALCC User,localhost:7300 but nothing happens.I have also tried connecting directly to a local node with the same result. The new laptop is 64 bit. 73 Andy G3SVD __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Dx4win] DX4win ver8.05 with TS950sdx
GM all, I have been using various versions of DX4Win with the TS950sdx for some years now but a couple of days ago something went wrong and I have been unable to find the fault, if such it is. Now if I click on a spot in the band map I get a beep from the rig, the mode changes, and the red arrow in the band map moves to the new band/frequency but it only stays there for a second or so then reverts to the previous band/frequency. The frequency on the rig does not change. If I change band and/or frequency manually on the rig the arrow and the frequency at the top of the band map track rig as it should. [Dx4win] A little help and advice please
I have just upgraded my laptop from ver 7.06 to 8.04 and now the laptop wont talk to the IC706mk2g that I use in Mexico. I copied over the ini file and everything else works fine. I have tried various data rates and various settings for the DTR/RTS/Poll rate etc without success. The 706 worked fb with different earlier versions of DX4Win for some years. Re: [Dx4win] A little help and advice please
Jim, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately for some reason I can't open ver7.06, it says it can't find the psk.dll, it's there OK in the DX4W directory but after I set up 8.04 it won't work. No problem anyhow. I opened the .INI file with notepad and there under radio are the settings, they may not get transferred but they are recorded. In the case of the IC706mk2g the baud rate should be 4800 (not 1200 as DX4W wants) and the address 4E (not 48 as the default in DX4 is, nor 50 as the notes for the radio in Preferences says). DTR and RTS are low and it's all working now. Many thanks for your help, I've copied this to the support reflector just in case any one else has the difficulty. 73 Andy XE1/G3SVD From: Jim Reisert AD1C jjreis...@alum.mit.edu To: Andy Hewitt andyphew...@btopenworld.com Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Wednesday, 21 July, 2010 17:54:45 Subject: Re: [Dx4win] A little help and advice please On Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 8:31 AM, Andy Hewitt andyphew...@btopenworld.com wrote: I have just upgraded my laptop from ver 7.06 to 8.04 and now the laptop wont talk to the IC706mk2g that I use in Mexico. You have to run DX4WIN 7.06 and see exactly what your radio configuration looks like, then write down those settings and enter them in to 8.04. If you can't run 7.06, I don't know what else since I don't have that radio. On my 756, I make sure that the baud rate (menu inside the radio) is set to a real number (not auto), and then uncheck the default baud rate box in DX4WIN and set the baud rate to match the radio. Other than that, the rest of the 706mk2g settings should be correct. If you have a real ICOM CI-V interface and a COM port, or a USB interface like microHAM or RigBlaster, then you don't need to bother with DTR/RTS settings. Otherwise if you have a serial cable interface to real COM port, then try each of the four combinations to see which one works. If you have a serial to USB converter, then all bets are off. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] FW: DX4WIN y el Keyboard
Good morning I have received the email below from Javier LU5FF, who is having some trouble getting his new PC to work with DX4Win. As I am unable to help him, not having Windows7 yet I have translated his email hoping that another of the users on this reflector can answer his query: Some weeks ago I saw that there had been some discussion on this reflector concerning getting the new version of DX4Win to use the interface and work with cw, as my PC operating system was XP and although I was on the point of changing it I did not pay much attention; even though I could not make that transmit... Now though I have my new PC with 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate and I have the same problem as I had with XP and cannot get the DX4Win keyboard to function which I suppose is a software problem. Can you please tell me how this problem was left as the programmers understood that there was a problem I also saw in a posting that it was functioning without problems. [Dx4win] DX4Win/LoTW help and advice please - Again!
I have just uploaded 24 recent 6m QSOs to LoTW but have a glitch. The actual upload was for 27 QSOs as I also added some very old QSOs into my log for some QSL cards that I found for some contacts back in the 1980s. When the QSOs were uploaded every thing seemed OK but I noticed that my total log QSOs in DX4Win is 15455 but LoTW shows 15466. Until this upload my log and LoTW concurred. It was not rejected nor was a discrepancy high lighted until I tried to download the report. When I did this I got a window in DX4Win saying Upload aborted duplicate QSO A7/M0GFA. I have looked at the activity report and it says no discrepancy found and also says that amongst others it found a QSL for A7/M0FGA. There is obviously a discrepancy somewhere but I cannot find it. Can I go back and delete the last up load and repeat it? Would that solve the problem? I could reset the upload flags and upload the whole log but would that help? There are some really good QSLs in addition to the A7 that I would like to get correctly into DX4Win. Thank you for any help and suggestions. 73 Andy G3SVD __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Well guys, I don't know what to make of it. None of these 27 QSOs could have been uploaded before. Nothing show about duplicate records on LoTW Your Account/Your Activity tab. There it just shows an upload of 27 QSOs with 6 QSLs. Below is a copy of the Activity report. It is only when I try to upload the QSLs that DX4Win informs me that the download has been aborted because A7/M0FGA is a dupe. I deleted that QSO from my log (keeping the details to add it back in later) and it then told me that SV1JSQ is a dupe. So where is the dupe - in LoTW or DX4Win? 22 of these QSOs are only from the past few weeks, the other 5 were not in my DX4Win log before so added them when I found that I had paper QSLs for them. Does this glitch mean that from now on I'm going to have discrepancies whenever I upload my log and then download QSLs? Re: [Dx4win] FW: DX4Win/LoTW help and advice please - Again!
Jim, Larry, You are absolutely right! I have done enough uploads and report downloads now that I should know better. That was precisely what I did not do:- I did not scroll right down in the Options for duplicate QSOs menu. I had the application note in front of me too - as they say - Doh! I was partially confused by the difference in the QSO count which has been on the nail up 'til now. As Jim says he does not worry about discrepancies - then neither will I. 73 and very many thanks Andy G3SVD -Original Message- From: jjreis...@gmail.com [mailto:jjreis...@gmail.com] On Behalf Of Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: 09 July 2009 19:12 To: Andy Hewitt Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] FW: DX4Win/LoTW help and advice please - Again! Andy, I'm very confused by your description. First, have you read this application note, from beginning to end? http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/lotw.htm This is the process in a nutshell: - from DX4WIN, export for LoTW - using TQSL, sign the ADIF file to create a .TQ8 file - at the ARRL LoTW web site, upload the .TQ8 file - from the ARRL LoTW web site, download your lotwreport.adi file - back in DX4WIN, import the lotwreport.adi file as ADIF, using the imported QSO sets upload confirmed option That's all described in the application note. When you download your lotwreport.adi file from ARRL, there could be QSOs in there that you previously downloaded. For example, say I download QSOs from LoTW on June 23. The next time I download from LoTW (say, July 4), the pre-filled start date will be June 23. Thus, any QSOs that were confirmed on that date (note this is not the QSO date, but the date that the LoTW system determined there was a match) will show up again in the new lotwreport.adi file. Upon import, DX4WIN will report that those QSOs are already confirmed. It's just a warning, no duplicates are created anywhere. Does this make sense after reading the application note? Now if you changed the pre-filled start date to June 24 when you downloaded from LoTW the second time, but there were system matches on June 23 that were not in the previous download (i.e. they happened after your June 23 download), you won't get those QSOs in the lotwreport.adi file. I.e. you will be missing LoTW confirmations in your DX4WIN log. This doesn't address the issue of the QSO count differences, but I don't worry about it myself. 73 - Jim AD1C On Thu, Jul 9, 2009 at 11:25 AM, Andy Hewittandyphew...@btopenworld.com wrote: Well guys, I don't know what to make of it. [Dx4win] DX4Win/LoTW
I was very grateful for the advice given to me on here a couple of weeks ago. But what I was trying to do then did not work out so I wonder if you can help me again please. The problem is that when I did my first log upload to LoTW last year I did not enter my location details into the system. This resulted for some reason in my CQ zone being 15 and the ITU zone and IOTA also being wrong. I have corrected that now but I now need to do an upload of my complete log again so that anyone getting a QSL with me gets credited with the correct data. I have reset the upload flags to Y, that works, but I cannot reset the upload date. In AD1C's application note he says that: if a QSO's upload date is already set then that QSO will not be marked for upload again. I went through the whole procedure with all the upload flags set to Y but the only QSOs that were uploaded were the most recent with UPLOAD marked as Y and no upload date. How can I reset the upload date to blank? That seems to be the problem. 73 Andy G3SVD __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] New Application Note: DXCC Award Tracking
Sorry for the bother Mike, however perhaps you (or someone else) will know the answer to the following: If I look at the DXCC summary (excluding deleted) I have 1311 entities/ cards for submission. If I then open the SUBMISSION it only shows 391 stations listed. I have tried clearing the SUBMITTED award flags and then rehitting SUBMISSION with the same result. I just cannot see how those 391 cards will fill in all the gaps. 73 Andy G3SVD _ From: Mike Rhodes [mailto:w...@roadrunner.com] Sent: 13 January 2009 11:04 To: Andy Hewitt Subject: Re: [Dx4win] New Application Note: DXCC Award Tracking Andy, Not sure why the 30 Q listing. However, you are correct that you will get whatever credits are available from the 1300 cards. One more thing to note is that it is actually the contacts rather than the cards that are counted. That is, if you send in 100 cards but half of them have two confirmations on them, you will end up with 150 credits rather than 100 UNLESS you tag the multi-Q cards with an indication of which Q to count. With a large submission that can be a bit of a surprise when the bill comes in! Good luck and congrats on all the awards. I can get the cards field checked in the UK at one of the conventions/rallies so I am not risking the cards nor paying postage. I will then only have to pay for the certificates plus whatever the field checkers charge over here. This is what comes of only becoming interested in getting wall paper (the only one that matters) late in life. I have found another oddity:- in DX4Win if I go into REPORTS-DXCC-FIVE BAND SUBMISSION I get a list of about 30 stations that I have worked on all five bands. Not the list of stations that make up 100 entities for each band. I don't even know if these 30 are all that I have worked on five bands or not but that is what DX4W brings up. With 1300 cards to be checked, that figures up to something like $12 for the first 120 Qs and $177 for the next 1180. Then there will be an additional $12 for each certificate so, assuming 5BDXCC, that is another $60 for each band plus another $12 for the 5BDXCC cert. That brings him to about $261, not counting Registered Mail round trip for about 9 pounds of cards! I don't think I would be willing to trust the PO with nearly every QSL I owned, all in one place at one time! Bu the ARRL still has Andy in a tough (expensive) spot because, unless he wants to spread this job out over several years, he is still going to have to either take the 15 cents/card hit for some oversized shipments or pay the extra $10 per submission to submit more than once per year! Oh yeah, don't forget the extra $12 per for the CW, SSB, and RTTY DXCC certs... Andy, my suggestion is, once you decide how big a hit you want to take at a time, is to export the submissions to EXCEL and sort them into whatever bitesize chunks you desire. [Dx4win] 7.02 available
I have 7.02 working now but, in my case still very strange results when I click on a spot. I was on 14260 and clicked on a spot for a stn working cw split on 18MHz. The rig went to split mode but left the RX on 14260 and qsy'd the TX to 18150. I have checked this with other spots and result is always similar. The rig is TS950SDX. Apart from that everything went smoothly and everything else seems to be functioning. 73 Andy G3SVD -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Tony Lord Sent: Monday, May 15, 2006 6:36 PM To: 'Jim Reisert AD1C'; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: RE: [Dx4win] 7.02 available Jim, Thanks to you and the boys from DX4WIN, for latest version 7.02, all operating 110%! No promises, but it worked for me. 73 Alan, N5PA Instructions for Upgrading to Version 6.04: 1. In DX4WIN version 6.03, open your Preferences window by clicking File and then Preferences 2. Then in the Preferences window click File and Write INI File and save it to your SAVE directory in DX4WIN version 6.03 (C:\Program Files\dx4w603\save) 3. Download the new version of DX4WIN and save it to wherever you normally save downloaded files to or your desktop 4. Double click the new downloaded file and it will create the new release of DX4WIN in a directory called C:\Program Files\dx4w604 5. From the root directory of your old version of DX4WIN (C:\Program Files\dx4w603) copy your key file to the new version root directory (C:\Program Files\dx4w604). This file is usually your call sign dot key, i.e. N5PA.key 6. From your old save file (C:\Program Files\dx4w603\save) copy the following files to the new save directory (C:\Program Files\dx4w604\save): dx4win.awd, dx4win.rep, dx4win.tcp, and your log file, which ends in .dxl 7. Open the new version of DX4WIN 8. Open your Preferences window by clicking File and then Preferences 9. Then in the Preferences window click File and Merge INI file, select the DX4WIN.INI file we created in step 2 by going to the old directory at C:\Program Files\dx4w603\save and click Open to merge it into your new Preferences file 10. Once you have merged the changes you will need to make some band changes on the DXCC, WAS, WAZ, and WPX tabs. For some reason it does not import those from the INI file. I normally just have 1.8 MHz through 50 MHz checked and I do not have all of the other VHF/UHF/Microwave frequencies checked. That is your preference. 11. After you have made those changes, click File and then Save Changes and Exit. Most of your windows will not come back into place. 12. If you use a Master Call window you will need to create a new master call database. 13. To create a Master Calls file you click File and then Import/Export. 14. From the Import / Export Filters window highlight the CALLS id in the filters and then select File and Export. 15. A Save As window will open up and you can create a file called calls.txt and save it to C:\Program Files\dx4w604\save. 16. Once it is saved you can close the Import / Export Filters window by clicking File and then Exit. 17. If you have not already, open up the Master Calls window by clicking Window and Master Calls on your QSO window. 18. Once the MasterLookup window is open, right click inside the MasterLookup window and two options will appear. 19. Click the Convert option and a file Open window will appear. 20. Go to the directory where you saved the calls.txt file, which should have been C:\Program Files\dx4w604\save. 21. Key in the file name calls.txt in the File name and click the Open button. It will convert the file into your MasterLookup window. No promises, but you should be ready to go now with the new version. This is how I did my conversion and it should work for you. ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

Net Subject: Kenwood TS570S GA all, About a week ago I was asking for assistance on connecting my TS570S to the PC to control it with DX4win ver 6.02. A number of people gave me suggestions but nothing worked. I have been contolling my TS950SDX via the serial port for years and as ver602 now permits the control of two rigs, I want to do just that and control the HF rig (950) and the 6m rig (570S). I there fore bought two Microham USB interfaces the 950 wkd immediately but the 570 does not. I therefore thought that the Microham interface for the 570(a different model) was faulty. The company sent me a replacement but the result is the same. There are two LEDs on front, a green one shows data flow PC-rig, that works but the red one showing data flow rig-PC doesnt. On the other setup both leds flash almost continuously. I have been through the set-up for both a number of times but no success. Can anyone tell me if Im missing something on the set-up for the 570? The only menu option that, apparently affects the PC connection isa no:35 which sets the speed and stop bits, Ive tried 4800/1, 4800/2 and the default for the rig 9600/1, no change. Ive been through the various rig options in PREFERENCE/RADIO, no good. I just get DX$win telling me that radio has timed out! I am pretty certain it is finger trouble here but what? Any suggestions will be very gratefully received. 73 Andy G3SVD --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment. [Dx4win] Rig control for Kenwood TS570S
Hi all, I am running dx4win ver6.02. and want to control two rigs TS950SDX( which I have been contolling for years thru ver 4.xx), and a TS570S which I cannot get the program to recognise. The Kenwood options offered in preferences--radio are:- Kenwood / 850-950(that works for my 950) / 2000 / 870 - no option for 570. None of the options seem to work. Which should I use or is there a suitable driver available somewhere? 73 Andy G3SVD --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment.
