[Dx4win] Mode FT4 (MFSK w/submode FT4)

2024-04-24 Thread B. Nowak

Hello DX4Win users.

For some reason my DX4Win does not show any log entries under mode DIG
for any FT4 log entries either worked or confirmed.
All of my FT8 contacts are properly shown as mode DIG worked or
confirmed but FT4 does not.

I am entering my FT4 QSO's as mode MFSK (submode FT4) in my log.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Brad - N8SNM

[Dx4win] FT-710 Rig file

2023-12-31 Thread B. Nowak

Has anyone successfully managed to control the Yaesu FT-710 from DX4WIN?
Does a RIG file exist?
I believe N1MM+ can be used but I'm only interested in using DX4WIN at
this time.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Re: [Dx4win] Printing Address and or QSO Strips

2023-02-20 Thread B. Nowak

To all,

Here are some settings that I use for printing labels on my DYMO
LabelWriter 450.
Works OK but each time the system complains about not being able to set
the custom paper size.
I don't QSL much anymore with LOTW being available so I haven't spent
any time making improvements.

Re: [Dx4win] export a submission to ADIF?

Thanks for the help on the ADIF files creation for submission, it worked
like a champ.
While not an easy process, sure beats entering all by hand and accurate too.

Thanks again,

 Brad,

I'm not sure the way Pete is suggesting will work. I just did it a
couple of weeks ago, and here is how I did it:

 1. Go to Reports, Awards, and uncheck Lotw under the Confirmation box
in the upper left. This ensures that you will only be submitting
confirmations which have been confirmed via a card.

 2. Click on Reports, Award flags and then select DXCC Mixed in the
upper box and Clear Submitted in the Action box and then click on the
Change button. Next select DXCC band in the upper box, Clear
Submitted and Change. Finally, select DXCC mode in the upper box,
Clear Submitted and Change. This clears out all QSOs that you might
have already marked for Submission. This step is a precaution to
ensure that you did not run Submission before with the LOTW button
selected as outlined in Step 1.

 3. Click on Reports and under Report / Action, select Submission.
This will mark all cards eligible for DXCC credit for Submission and
create a report that you can view. You should right click and print
the report. It would be great if Paul would allow the user to right
click on this report and create an ADIF file for submission to the
ARRL. Unfortunately, you cannot create the ADIF file at this point.
So save the report that you just printed out and move on to Step 4.

 4. Go back to the main QSO entry screen and press F5 several times
until the Award boxes appear at the bottom of the window. Then hit F8
and click on the Mixed box under DXCC and select S (for submission).
Then click on File in the upper left on DX4WIN and select
Import/Export. Select ADIF and then File again in the smaller window
and Export. It should prompt you with a warning that you are running
a Filter, say yes that you want to export using the filter. Name the
file something like yourcall mixed. You have just created an ADIF
file for all QSOs eligible for DXCC Mixed credit. You have to repeat
this process two more times -- after doing a F8 fileter for DXCC Band
and then a filter for DXCC Mode. You should end up with three ADIF
files named yourcall mixed, yourcall band and yourcall mode. Remember
where you saved these ADIF files.

 5. Finally, go to the ARRL website and log into the online DXCC
submission page. I can't remember the exact navigation within the
submission pages, but in essence you are simply going to import the
three ADIF files one at a time. The DXCC online form allows you to
import multiple ADIF files into the form. Very easy. When you get
done, you should click on the View Submission button and compare all
the listed QSOs in this report to the DX4WIN Submission report that
you printed out in Step 3. When I did this, my online report matched
the DXCC Submission report exactly. I then merely had to sort my
cards to appear in the order as presented in the online submission
form and then complete the submission. I took all of my cards to my
 local DXCC card checker.

This process is a bit complicated and requires some advanced knowledge
of DX4WIN. Paul could make this whole process a snap by allowing
users to create an ADIF file directly from the Submission report once
 it is generated.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: [Dx4win] export a submission to ADIF?

Thanks Pete but that's not what I'm referring to.
I've done many LOTW submissions and it works fine.

What I'm talking about is a submission for cards ONLY.

The new online submission to arrl allows one to import a list for
submission if it is in ADIF format.

I would like to be able to try this but all I can do is create a CSV
file of the submission which is far from ADIF.

Thanks,

[Dx4win] Possible new submission function?

2012-01-04 Thread B. Nowak
Hello DX4WIN users,

I haven't seen anything on this topic so here goes.

As I am not a power user of DX4WIN, I might be missing something but I would
possibly like to see a new report - submission functionality.
Let me see if I can expalin.

After uploading qso's to LOTW and downloading a report, I get a number of DXCC
LOTW confirmations for band, mode, or perhaps mixed for a new one!
Next I do a DXCC submission in DX4WIN and it marks all of the QSO's I have
confirmed with the S... great.
Now I go to LOTW and make an application to apply the credits to my account
towards DXCC or Challenge.
After my application for DXCC credits is processed is where my little gripe
begins.
For example, VU4PB was a new one for me back in March of 2011. I worked VU4PB
5 times on two bands (20 and 17).
My first QSO was on 3-19 on 17m CW. This QSO is what LOTW credits my DXCC
account as new mixed-band-mode.
BUT DX4WIN chose my LAST QSO with VU4PB to mark as SUBMITTED for
mixed-band-mode which was on 3-30-2011 20m CW. This isn't a BIG deal but I
only do an application once a year or so with ARRL so my number of new credits
to apply can be well over 150. Making LOTW credits match DX4WIN can be rather
tedious with this many qso's to reconcille.

For some reason it seems DX4WIN starts at the most recent qso's that are
confirmed and works backwards in time/date as it marks qso's with S. LOTW
starts at the oldest qso and works forwards in time/date.

I have no problem at all with this for submissions with CARDS but it's kind of
a pain in the neck with LOTW confirmed qso's.

Anyone else notice this or have an easy work around?

If not, I would like to see if Paul can look into trying to see if DX4WIN can
mark qso's starting with the oldest and working forward in date/time.

Thanks,
Brad - N8SNM

I would love a one-button feature to print a QSL label and a mailing
label for the current QSO, using my Dymo label printer.

One shortcoming DX4WIN has today is that you will NOT get a mailing
label if the QSL Manager field is not filled in. This means if you
want to send direct QSLs to fixed stations (say, all the new USA
prefixes you worked in the last WPX contest), there is no easy way to
print a batch of QSO and QSL labels (say on Avery 5160 30 labels per
sheet) and have all the address labels interleaved with the QSO
labels, so you can sit at a card table (no computer access) with a
stack of blank QSLs, envelopes, stamps and the printed labels and go
  to town.

This is probably the best short-term solution. My understanding is
that each Yaesu radio has its own variation of the CAT protocol, so
pretty much each Yaesu radio needs a custom driver. You might be able
to help Paul debug support for the 5000, starting with using the 2000
rig driver, by sending him debug logs (let him request the help
first).

[Dx4win] Possible bug using LoTW

2009-08-17 Thread B. Nowak
Dear Users;

I recently did a upload/download cycle for LoTW and found a possible issue.
It seems that for some reason the import ADIF file clears the cnfm flag
when an Upl Cnf is set.
I chose the 5th option for import which says any QSO with confirmed flag
set will set the Upl Cnf flag.
It does this BUT it seems that if the Cnfm was previously set (already
have a card), it is CLEARED
Maybe I don't understand the use/difference but I use the cnfm flag as a
card in hand and Upl Cnf for a LoTW
credit. This is most needed when applying for WAZ arwards (and others)
which do not recognize LoTW credits.

Any others experience this?
Am I misinterpreting something?
Is this an old bug? (I am somewhat new to DX4WIN).
Or am I doing something wrong??

BTW, I am still on v7.02.15
Just waiting for the dust to settle b4 I upgrade.

Thanks,
Brad - N8SNM
