[Dx4win] Lable print problem

2014-06-14 Thread Dick White
For some reason DX4WIN will only print one call to a label. It has always
printed multiple calls until this week.

I have opened Preferences and find the settings unchanged.

Under Print Labels / Edit the settings are MAX QSO's = 3

Labels across = 3Labels down = 10 Under Preview the labels all show
only one QSO per label.

I have reset everything and no change.

Anybody have any ideas ?

[Dx4win] THANKS JIM

2013-11-29 Thread Dick White
I had a problem with DX4W805. I could not open the full program. All I could
get was the entry window and nothing else. When you think you might have
lost over 65K calls in a log, you panic. I emailed Jim, AD1C, and he sent me
3 suggestions. The first 2 did not resolved the problem. I finally did as
Jim said and uninstalled the program and then downloaded a new 805 file an
installed it. All is working ok now. All it took was 3 emails to/from Jim
and I am back to normal again.

I think Jim is a prime example of amateur radio. He is always willing to
help anyone who asks him for help. He did not make me wait several days to
answer my first email, but answered in less than 2 hours. The other 2 emails
were also replied to quickly. My 38 years as a ham, I have always been
able to get help when needed. My thanks to Jim and all he does for the
amateur community and for his efforts with DX4WIN.

Re: [Dx4win] LoTW problem v 1.14.1

2013-06-03 Thread Dick White
Several of you have said that LoTW will not accept a ADIF file and needs a
tq8 file. In the HELP file it states that LoTW will accept a ADIF and
CABRILLO file. I did not find any prompt about a tq8 file and figured it was
not needed in v1.14.1.
I checked my ADIF file and it has the calls to up load correct. The ADIF
file is located in C:\LoTW as ks0m149.ADI. That is the file I selected for
the TQSL to sign and upload. It did not do that. I tried to attach the
file to email and LoTW cannot find the attachment in the ADIF format.
I have tried twice this morning to up load the file with no success. If
this version needs a tq8 file how do I make one ?
My CERT is active and my profile info is correct. I am at a loss as to what
to do next.

Hi Dick,
I have no idea why TQSL did not automatically send the file but you can only
upload a TQ8 file not an adi file to LOTW.

When I updated my TQSL program I just started the new downloaded file and it
removed the earlier version, kept all my certs, and was ready to go and it
did work fine here.

Re: [Dx4win] LoTW problem v 1.14.1

2013-06-03 Thread Dick White
First of all want to thank all of you who have sent me help information
about my LoTW up load problem. I finally got the file up loaded and
confirmed.
I went through the process for a third time this morning and it worked.
During the process there is a file that asks if you want to allow dupes. I
checked my file and there were no dupes so I selected NO. This time I
selected ALLOW DUPES and the file was up loaded and a window came up that
said the file was received by LoTW and credit for the 14 calls I sent. I
don't know why that made a difference, but it worked. I am sure there were
no dups in the file, but LoTW thought there was. Thanks again for all the
help. I just hope it works next time I up load.

[Dx4win] FW: lost QSO's

2013-05-13 Thread Dick White
Jim / AD1C

I finally have my full log back, thanks to you. I could not get the ks0m.~xb
file into DX4WIN at first. I finally saved it on a memory stick, changed
the name to ks0m.dxl and then had DX4WIN open it and save it. All QSO's
through May 12 are now back in the log. It sure is a relief to get it all
back. It took me a while to understand what you were telling me. But, when
you are 4 months away from being 87 years old it just takes a little longer
to understand.

I did put a call in the log and I did see the modified sign pop up. I was
not aware of why it did that. It has been a while since I read the DX4WIN
Manuel JFrom now on it is backup, backup, backup every time I add calls.

Thank you very much for you good help.

Copy it to a name with a .DXL extension, as I said:

You'll probably need to search for all *xl files you can find. The
latest/largest one is the best you can do. You will have to give it a
.DXL
extension for DX4WIN to be able to open it (if it's a .~xl, .dxb or .~xb

[Dx4win] New Computer

2012-12-31 Thread Dick White
My new computer has been built and I will be converting to it on January 12.
I need suggestions as to how to move my radio programs from the XP Pro
computer to the new WINDOWS 7 / 64 bit computer.
I use MMTTY 168A / N1MM 12.12.2 / DX4WIN 8.05 and MixW 2.19.

I believe for N1MM and MMTTY I can install the basic programs and then
install the latest up grades.
DX4WIN is version 8.05. I can transfer my file but how do I get the program
and key on my new HD? On my last up grade it was done as a download on line.
If I need to install the program and don't have a CD how can I get the it on
my new hard drive? I think I will need to transfer the key and other files.
I have saved some posts on this but they don't give me enough information.
My MixW will have to be done the same as DX4WIN.

Help appreciated so I don't screw up everything.

wondering what is the best way to get cards confirmed with the new rules. My

Bob,
The only change you will see for LoTW is when you submit for an award. There
is no longer an option to have cards checked as a hybrid. The final pages of
the process are simpler. I just submitted last night for my 12M DXCC (and a
pile of band countries) and it is already showing as completed. Very fast
now.

  Dick,
According to the DXCC Applications Received page, your application was
received at the DXCC desk on March 5th, so it's only been 4 weeks since they
received it.

[Dx4win] FW: ACLog adi file

2011-03-11 Thread Dick White
My thanks to all who tried to help me solve this problem. I think Paul's
statement below is the answer to why I cannot import the ACLog .0 file into
DX4WIN. The ACLog 3.0 by N3FJP has 2 options to export a file. One is the
ACLog format and the other says ADIF. But, I get the same result with
either file I use. I have spent too much time working on this to continue
and will not try to import the file to DX4WIN. I will just use the ACLog
file even though it is not as simple to use as DX4WIN. I was trying to
import the ACLog into my DX4WIN log to keep track of the QSL's received and
sent for our special event station W0C on the air last weekend.

Thanks for the offer to help Dick KS0M

I note that ACLog 3.0 has two ADIF formats to choose from: Export

I have been unable to contact the op who sent it to me at this time. Could
make a difference. I have entered the file in my ACLog 3.0 program and all
538 Q's are there. I still have not been able to get it into DX4WIN.

[Dx4win] problem fixed

2011-03-11 Thread Dick White

My thanks to Jim, AD1C, for fixing the ACLog ADIF problem. I now have all
538 W0C calls in DX4WIN and will be able to keep track of the QSL requests
as to S/R. I was not looking forward to keeping track of QSL's with the
other program. My radio club will now have a permanent record of our special

[Dx4win] Problem

2011-03-10 Thread Dick White
My club recently had a special event operation, W0C. It was logged on
another computer using the N3FJP logger ACLog 3.0. The file reads
AclADIF.adi. I do have the AClog 3.0 on my hard drive, but never use it.
The log was sent to me in ADIF format. I have tried to import it to my
DX4WIN log with no success. Of the 538 Q's I get just 214 of them in a new
file that I created. Yes, I have one dummy call in the new log. No matter
how I try to import the log it will not put all 538 calls in the log.

Anyone have any experience with this combination that can help me ?

Hello Dick

A friend uploaded my entire log in March when I was trying to switch to
DXLAB. He was a DXLAB user and it was easy for him.

HOWEVER, I could not get the hang of DXLAB so went back to DX4WIN and
upgraded to V8.04. I am at the point of wanting to look into an LOTW upload
and tie it to a QSL submission for my 2010 DXCC submission. I probably have
well over 200 band/entities to claim. BTW, I must submit QSLs because I
have 160M QSLs that require HQ DXCC Desk checking and its same price 1 to
120 QSOs in a submission.

I am interested in seeing how you do it. BTW, I have not tried to upload
with DX4WIN yet, so I am looking at a first time event using DX4WIN. Would
you be willing to publish your instructions? If you have used them on
several uploads they are most likely pretty clear and easy to follow and
something many folks using DX4WIN could use to successfully upload and claim
credits (I had 161 waiting in March and have since got into a 2010 DXCC
marathon with a club so more do exist.

I find I must use LOTW to claim PJ2BVU on 6M. He refuses to QSL even though
I had sent SAE and funds to him. I even tried someone who knows him and saw

[Dx4win] TX5TES

2010-07-13 Thread Dick White
I worked TX5TES on 17 meters at 0014z 14/7/10. DX4WIN does not have a
prefix or country listed for this call. QRZ says it is Yves, F6CTL, on
Tatakoto Is. in the Tuamotu Archiplelago, IOTA OC0066.

What is the prefix to use for this call and what DXCC name do I use ? TX in
the prefix window does nothing to identify the country it is in. I am not a
IOTA chaser. But, he was calling CQ and I could not resist answering him :)

[Dx4win] FYI on 4O prefix

2008-04-01 Thread Dick White
I worked the 4O/YU1YU call yesterday, CW, and found that DX4WIN did not
recognize it as Montenegro. I entered a fake 4O call and it worked ok. I
also entered other 4O/YU3XXX calls and it still did not know what country it
was. The country data base was looked at and it is correct. For the $o/YU1YU
call I put Montenegro in the prefix box and the call is now in the data
base. This is no big problem for me, but I wonder why this happened ?
Evidently the 4O/YU combination is confusing to DX4WIN.

[Dx4win] Numbering Problem

2006-11-05 Thread Dick White

I just did the up grade from v. 5.03 to v. 7.2.15 with no problem and all
seems to be working ok. But, I did find a glitch that apparently happened
last August in V.5.03. In my new 7.2 log and old 5.03 log file I found a
QSO numbering error. The first 59 numbers are blank. No QSO's at all,
nothing. What should be number 1 is now number 60. I recall importing an ADI
file last August for the SCC RTTY contest. It said it had imported 3 QSO's
when there was supposed to be 63 in the file. I am not sure what happened,
but I re-imported the file and all seemed ok. This was not an up grad
problem with V.7.2. But, I just discovered it during the up grade.

Question: How can I get the correct numbering back as it should be ? As I
said, #60 should be #1 and all the rest of the numbers are not correct.

Duane,
Thanks for the suggestion. I did a delete on each of the 59 blank QSO logs
and it worked ok. Had to do one at a time. But, my log is now back to the
correct numbers. I tried your suggestion at first and did not see any
change when I deleted nr 1. Then I found out it was deleting the higher
number first. Had to scroll down the log to see that. Anyway, I am back ok.
This worked in ver. 7.2.15 but does not work in my old ver. 5.03.

Dick,
I've found those kinds of blank entries in my log as well, but I
was never sure where they came from. I've deleted them with no problems
to the rest of the database. Something is generating null entries, but I
have no idea where or when. I think I saw them in version 6.xx also.

[Dx4win] Help

2006-04-25 Thread Dick White

I just had a new computer built. We put the old Hard Drive in the new one as
a slave drive and transferred all the data to the new HD. Using DX4WIN ver
5.03.

For some reason the Ducie Is. prefix VP6/D and the country was dropped and
DX4WIN now shows only 334 DX countries. It also lost my Europa confirmed
QSO, FR/J and changed it to Reunion.

I have tried to put Ducie Is. back in as a country and DX4WIN will not take
it. DX4WIN is set for expert Here is what I did:

file / databases / countries / country-add / mappings-add / call-add / save
changes and exit

After I do the save and exit, the new country is not in the databsase. I put
Ducie in previously, but I can't get it there now.

Help Please. Dick KS0M

[Dx4win] UA9S and UA9W

2004-05-27 Thread Dick White
Last post on this subject. The information about UA9S and UA9W was taken
from my DX4WIN log. I still have my old WJ2O log on the hard drive and
looked at it. My last post is not as correct as I thought. I think DX4WIN
may have made a correction on some of the calls when I transfered them.

For ON6NIO - I only put the zone and oblast info in my WJ2O log AFTER the
QSL had been received. That info was taken from the card. At this time I
accept what DX4WIN prints. But, I still check the zone when / if I receive
a QSL card.

But, in looking at my WJ2O log files, I found the same confusion we have
been discussing.

For instance UA9SCD Orenburg Oblast 167 Zone 161979
 UA9SHU Orenburg Oblast 167 Zone 17 1981

  UA9WCQ Oblast 84 Zone 17 1980
  UA9WOT Oblast 84 Zone 171990

I found this confusion in all the UA9S and UA9W calls I could locate.
So, who knows what is correct. In a contest I am going to take what the
other op sends me and hope for the best when it is scored. I don't use
DX4WIN in contests so it is not a problem. I will continue to check my QSL
card info against what is in the DX4WIN log and make a correction as needed.

[Dx4win] UA9S ans UA9W

2004-05-26 Thread Dick White
I looked in my log and found that all my UA9S and UA9W calls dated from 1979
through 1988 have ZONE 16.

These calls were worked when I was using the old WJ2O logging program. They
are verified by qsl cards.

[Dx4win] test

2004-02-16 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Dick White)
Hello everyone.
This is a test to make sure that I am finally back on the reflector. I
changed to a DSL service on January 6th. I unsubscribed the reflector using
my old e-mail address and server. I tried to subscribe to the list again
with my new address and server. For some reason, the robot would not let me
subscribe with my new address until today. I have no idea why it would not
respond to my request for over a month. I did not change anything in my set
up. But, I tried it again today and it says I am subscribed again.

Steve and all,

My problem with DX4WIN has been solved. It was so simple that it made me
have a good laugh. Bill, W5VW had the answer. THANK YOU VERY MUCH BILL.

In file / preferences / personal
Originally, I had the Worked Cutoff and the Mailed Cutoff set at
1965, thinking it wanted a date. It has been that way since 2001.

Several replies to me on the reflector said the Worked and Mailed Cutoff
should be set to zero (0). I did that and still had the
problem.

THE FIX : from W5VW : Change the Worked / Mailed Cutoff to 1.

I changed my Worked Cutoff and the Mailed Cutoff to 5

Results - PROBLEM SOLVEDAll my W and M flags are back.

Very simple fix. Maybe my frustration level will return to whatever normal
is.

Thank you Steve for your offer to help.

My thanks to all of you who replied and tried to help. This is a great bunch
of the reflector and usually someone comes up with the answer to a problem.
W5VW sure came through for me.

I would recommend that everyone check for a virus.

DX4WIN PROBLEM:
  When I open the report - DXCC - band=all - mode=all file to check
my DXCC progress, I find that some information is no longer available in the
report.

In the boxes for each DXCC country there is a C for countries confirmed.
There are no W for worked or M for mailed.

The W and M indicators were there at one time, but not now. I do not
recall making any changes to any of the files.

EXAMPLE of problem: I worked ZD9SXW on four bands in 1993 during a one
month period of time. I sent and received QSL's for the 12m and 40 m bands.
I did not QSL the 10m and 17 m bands.

In the DXCC Reports, it shows the two I confirmed with a C in the box.
That is, for the 12 and 40 meters bands.

It does not show anything in the boxes for the other two bands. No W to
show I worked them.
If I click on the 10m or 17m box, I get a message saying cannot select a
qso that does not exist. Yet, both QSO's are in the main log and the
report is telling me they do not exist. There are no W or M indications
on any of the boxes for the other countries. Can someone help me ? As it is
now, I can't check to see what countries I worked or which ones I QSL's. I
can go to each call in the log, but try going through 32K calls and find
that info. I don't have that much time. Help appreciated.

PROBLEM :

DX4WIN problem:When I open the report - DXCC - band = all
mode = all file to check my DXCC progress I find that I am no longer
getting everything.

In the boxes for each DXCC country I only have the C for confirmed
countries.

I have lost the W and M for worked and mailed QSO's in all 335
countries.

Example: Worked ZD0SXW on 4 bands in 1933 during a one month period.

In the DXCC reports it shows the two I confirmed as C ie: 12 and
40 meters
It does not show anything in the boxes for other two bands. ie: 10
and 17 meters. They are blank.

If I click on the 10m or 17m box I get a message saying cannot
select QSO that does not exist. Both QSO's are in the main log, yet the
report is saying they are not are not there. I have no W or M on any of
the boxes for any country. They were there the last time I checked a few
weeks ago. I did not change any parameters that I am aware of. Can someone
help me correct this ? As it is now, I can't check my progress or keep
track of the mailed requests.

[Dx4win] HELP

2004-01-25 Thread Dick White
I have been following a thread on the RTTY reflector about ZD9 calls. When I
checked my reports file I found this problem:

ZD9SXW - worked 4 times in 1993

Bands worked = 18 - 28 - 7 - 24 MHz

When I got to reports - DXCC - all and zoom down to ZD9, I find
this -

It has my 7 MHz and 24 Mhz bands as confirmed with a C.

It does not show that I have worked the 18 and 28 MHz bands, yet, I
have them in the log. All 4 QSO's were entered the same.

What happened and how do I get the report to show the W as worked for
these two bands ? ( for some dumb reason, I did not qsl there two bands
like I did the other two).

[Dx4win] back up help

I have tried to back up my log file to a floppy without success. Here is
what I have tried to copy the log:

File / save as / 3 1/2 floppy a: / bkupks0m.dxl / save /enter /
close log file / open a:\ /
a:\bkupks0m.dxl / enter a fatal error has occered reading the log file

A window does come up saying it is writing QSO file and the SWL file.

Thus, I can't open the file on the floppy. What can I do to copy my files

[Dx4win] Thanks

2002-12-30 Thread Dick White
My thanks for all of you who replied to my question about uninstalling
DX4WIN. A couple of you asked me why I would want to do this. Answer: I have
had big problems with the computer crashing at least 10 times a day, even on
startup. We isolated the major part of the problem to my Outlook Express
and Internet Explorer program. It was corrupted. A new HD was loaded with
everthing but my program files ( DX4WIN, RTTY etc.) and tested before
putting it into my computer. When we put all my programs back, the only time
it crashed was in DX4WIN. We assumed it was the DX4WIN program. I really did
not want to risk the uninstall / reinstall thing. In a moment of
brilliance, I put in another 128 megs of RAM to give me a total of 256 megs
of RAM. You guessed it, all my crashing problems went away. The computer
works much faster and it has not crashed for 3 days. DX4WIN was not the
problem after all. Now I can concentrate on my slice and my putting.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

[Dx4win] Thank you

2002-05-10 Thread Dick White
My thanks to all the replies about finding what calls are selected for label
printing. It is a simple thing to do. So, I have learned how to use another
feature of DX4WIN.

The two methods wereto 1: F8 - Y in label box - enter - log
2: print labels - under destination, check preview click ok . I
like this as it shows the actual labels as they will be printed. I found a
couple under BURO that were to be sent DIRECT.

I received 9 replies in a short time. There may be more as I have not down
loaded my e-mail this morning.

[Dx4win] Notes this CALL/QSO

2002-04-04 Thread Dick White
Consensus of the replies received: Put the new name/QTH in the notes for
this QSO box.

My thanks to all who replied to my question. I had already figured out to
put the info in the notes for this QSO window. But, that renders the
notes for this call rather usless. If I work a call today that I worked 2
or 5 or10 years ago ( I have done this) and the operator and/or qth are
different, putting the info in the qso box is ok. But, I still have the
old info in the CALL box ,which has nothing to do with the current
operator or current qth. I can see where this automatic feature is an
advantage to those who have several hundred qso's to enter. But, for someone
like me, it is a disadvantage. I can't customize the info as I want it. It
would be very helpful if you could switch this feature on or off as needed.

For now, I will just enter all the names and QTH's in the notes this QSO
box and ignor the notes this CALL box.

Thanks for the replies..Dick - KS0M
