Re: [Dx4win] LotW Backlog continues to grow ...
Yes, Rick is right. You just open up TQSL Cert and make a couple of clicks with the mouse. Here are the instructions right out of the Lotw website: Requesting A Signed Certificate Once you have a certificate for your primary callsign you may have old calls or secondary calls which you want to upload log data to LoTW. All subordinate calls will have a signed certificate. By having certificates signed by the primary call certificate all of your QSO data will be kept in one account. Use this procedure for appended calls such as W1AW/m, W1AW/p, KP2/W1AW, etc Here is what you do: 1.Open TQSL CERT 2.In the menu bar select FILE - NEW CERT REQUEST 3.Request a new certificate for your old call or secondary call. .DO NOT REQUEST SIGNED CERTIFICATES FOR PRIMARY CLUB CALLS. Club calls cannot be combined with personal accounts. Please see the section about club callsigns Beginning Date .Be sure to use the correct BEGIN when this call was issued to you. If you are not certain about this date then use the date of the earliest entry in your log when you operated with this callsign. .DO NOT use the default date of 1945-11-01. Using the default date could cause you to upload QSOs that do not belong to this call when you used it. Ending Date .Enter the ending date when you retired this callsign. If you are not certain about this date then use the date of the last entry in your log when you operated with this callsign. .If the call is still current then leave the end date open. Not much to it! But, each non-USA station must send a copy of his/her operating license plus a copy of a government issued ID such as drivers license, passport to this place in Newington. If I asked my local commissar in Blockavia if I should do this, he would probably have me locked up for being so stupid... I am certainly not going to send copies of my drivers license / passport to a foreign country, thru the 'mail' to get an award with the certainty my ID will be stolen... So,I don't think it's lazy, just common sense... There is absolutely no issue of singing a portable operation once you have the initial certificate. It takes less than one business day unless the operation is from a location that has specific access and licensing requirements. Even then, it's no more difficult than sending the same documentation to ARRL that would be needed to be accepted for DXCC (typically copy of license and landing permit). Anyone who complains about the sign-up process is too lazy to send copies of license and ID (equivalent to ham ticket and drivers license) with a valid mailing address and wait for the password to be mailed to the address on the ID. In many cases the process can be short circuited by providing the documentation in person at one of the many international conventions ARRL/DXCC/LotW staff attend on a regular basis. 73, ... I am not too sure just because Green Stamps are attached to submissions speeds up the process. I submitted my first ONLINE DXCC log on 1 Nov 2012. Pre paid with my credit card and just checked its status yesterday. I found It listed in the huge listing with the rest of the world wide submissions. Not sure when it will be processed because in that list, everyone is in there alphabetically by call sign. Just because you can submit your DXCC log online, like LOTW, doesn't seem to speed things up. 73, Rich N1RK -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Art - W6KY Sent: Monday, December 10, 2012 7:35 PM To: N3SL; DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] LotW Backlog continues to grow ... There needs to be a way for getting on LOTW to be made a lot simpler, especially for remote DX. The entire procedure should be able to be done on-line. and the difficulty of signing up their multiple portable operations. 73, ... Re: [Dx4win] LotW Backlog continues to grow ...
I used Lotw for my operation in Belize. It was very easy to sign up. I simply scanned a copy of my license from Belize and emailed it to the DXCC desk at the ARRL. Everything was approved before I left. It couldn't have been much easier. I plan to do the same thing when I go to Grand Cayman this coming February. 73, ... Not sure how current their delay announcements are, as a CQWW log uploaded on 12/1 has yet to be processed. But on the other hand, DXCC submissions via LoTW are super-fast. Submitted my annual update last evening at 8:40 and had all accredited at 9:49. You can use your US certificate to apply for a Canadian one (which will be issued in less than a day in most cases), then you can create locations anywhere in Canada where you've operated. And if you happen to sign W1ABC/R (for Rover) or W9ZYX/0 and want to use that with LotW you simply use your US certificate to apply for another with the self-assigned modifier. Again, the additional certificate will generally be issued in one business day (or less). 73, ... It would be easy to get signed up for LOTW for each and every one of these? Maybe I underestimate the process? Yes, it's trivial. Once you have a US certificate, you just create locations for each US-based grid square you operate from. No sign-up required. You can use your US certificate to apply for a Canadian one (which will be issued in less than a day in most cases), then you can create locations anywhere in Canada where you've operated. Once you've gotten through the initial sign-up hurdle, additional locations/entities/etc. are pretty easy. (It's only the rare ones where this is a problem. Applying for a SV/A certificate will likely be held up until you can present a license.) 73, -Rick __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
