Re: [Dx4win] Version 7.01

2009-12-06 Thread Mel
It's usually a good idea to stay current.

Older versions are more likely to encounter issues with newer Operating
Systems.

Only the latest version is going to receive ongoing maintenance.

The biggest advantages of the newer version are improved interface to
LotW, eQSL and the band map. However, the upgrade doesn't cost much, I
think it is worth staying current.

You should, at least, upgrade to 7.07. That costs nothing and a number
of bugs have been addressed by the updates.

I also have an intermittent problem where when I open DX4WIN I can see that
the program is trying to open because DX4WIN shown in the task bar but that
as far as it goes. If I close that and restart normally it will load
normally. Any ideas would be appreciated.

[Dx4win] Version 7.01 was at Dayton

2005-05-26 Thread N5PA
Version 7.01 was on sale at Dayton this past weekend. They did not want to
create a problem by having to support what they were doing at Dayton plus
the online users. They should have it up on their web page before much
longer, though. Paul sent out an e-mail yesterday stating their case about
doing this. All I can tell you right now is that you will have to wait
until they are caught up from Dayton and get the web page updated. It seems
to have not been a very big deal to the folks that have everything worked on
RTTY because I got some smirk e-mails from some of those guys stating so
what. But the addition of MMTTY to it is a big plus to me because I still
to work 190 more countries on RTTY to have them all. I enjoy having RTTY
QSO's whether I need it as a new country or not and this version makes it
much simpler.

Hello and thanks in advance.

I just upgraded from 5.03 to 7.01 all works fine except:

I have made many DXCC submissions using 5.03. With 5.03, each time I
made a submission the program remembered what had been credited
previously and only included the records I had individually marked for
submission in the QSO window.

Now when I try to make a submission using 7.01 it seems to start fresh
and include hundreds of QSOs for which I have already been credited.

I am missing a setting or something?

Hi Bill,

A few of things to try:

1. Copy your 5.03 log to your 7.01 directory and open it. Search for a
QSO you know you have already submitted. Use F5 on the QSO window until
you can see the award flags at the bottom. Is this QSO marked SUBMITTED
or APPROVED? It should be.

2. Remember that after you receive award credits from the ARRL, you must
change the Submitted flags to Approved. From the QSO window, Reports -
Change Award Flags

3. DX4WIN will try to submit QSOs for every DXCC award that you have
checked off in your preferences, even if you have less than 100
confirmations. It may be trying to re-submit QSLs you have already sent
in order to get the band/mode confirmation for these QSOs. Go to
Preferences and the DXCC tab. Check off ONLY the boxes you have active
DXCC awards on. Save the preferences, then try the DXCC submission again.

7.01 became available at Dayton. I'll let

don't contact ME about upgrading, etc. - I can't
help you (unless you saw us at Dayton).

I've included the change notice below. It's a
fine upgrade, and will make MMTTY users happy.

73 - Jim AD1C

Bug fixes and new features for version 7.01

? Interface to MMTTY RTTY software
? Both the packet window and the RTTY windows
will keep the focus when double clicking on a callsign or entering a QSO.
? More modes were added
? Remember position of calendar window
? Cleanup of calendar is done automatically after importing new data
? Option to copy information from CDROM data to QSO Window
? Provide for five custom labels
? Made saving / restoring of label data
independent of Windows country settings
? IOTA summary window expanded to show the modes
? County summary window expanded to show the mode
? Added BPSK31 to recognize PSK31 in packet spots
? Added 'Set QRP flag' to multiple QSO operations
? A double click in a summary window on the mode
row header or the band column header will set a
filter for the mode or the band only.
? Small adjustments for the determination of a
prefix and using the information from a previous QSO.

The bug Paul fixed was if you had logged a station like KP2A in USVI,
then that station moved to USA (and was in the callsign exception
file), the next time you logged KP2A, the country would be correct
(W) but the zone would be incorrect (8).

6.01 was released in March 2003, 2 months before Dayton.

We were down to the wire getting 7.01 finished and tested this year. Plus once
it was finished, there was NO TIME to start an upgrade process while the boys

Windows timing. Winkey is built into the MicroHam interface

What is the point of you adding RTTY to your
logging program now that I have just (last
week) received conformation for my 100th
 country on digi ?

Far better to add a facility for recording start
and finish times. Perhaps I've mentioned this
 before :-).

Hi,

Indeed, we did release version 7.01 in Dayton. We decided to delay the
announcement on the reflector so potential new users would get a chance
to see the product and get their questions answered. In the past we have
been overwhelmed with upgrade requests at the booth and the new users
simply did not get a chance to talk to us.

You can download the new version already from the hidden link:
www.dx4win.com/files/dx4w701.exe

Keep in mind that you will need a new license key for this version, and it will
take some time to reply to all user requests. (We all came home late last night
and Steve had two additional hours to drive). So do not call Steve for a day or
so. The website has not yet been updated, so the order form is not yet current.
The file order.txt in the docs directory of version 7.01 is current and contains
the details.
