Re: [Echovnc-users] InstantVNC 2.00 beta available

2012-04-23 Thread Christian
Hi Scott,

great job so far. Thank you. :)
Just using the InstantVNC 2.00 on Win Server 2003 Std R2 x86 installed
as a service.
Everthing is running fine so far no crashes.

One question left:
How can I enable RDP for InstantVNC-2.00 ?
Or is only VNC available with InstantVNC ?

Cheers
Chris

Thanks for the several messages of encouragement and feedback so far.
Hopefully I heard something of what you said; the BETA5 release of
 InstantVNC 2.0 is now available:

 ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/windows/bin/

Most of the changes involve how the auto-start at reboot option
behaves (i.e., when you install InstantVNC as a Windows service). This
version installs the files into a more standard place, and handles the
transition from the Windows desktop to a secure screen (i.e., the
Cntrl-Alt-Del screen or the Windows login screen) better. In the next
release, I hope to be able to say and vice-versa. :)

Been testing here on WinXP 32-bit and Win7 Home Premium 64-bit. Any
 feedback or suggestions welcome.

 cheers,
 Scott

 * added a optional help screen that displays at startup
 * added a mini GUI option that's displays a less-complicated UI to

 * added a service mode so that InstantVNC can be installed as a
 normal Windows service

To activate the Windows service, just startup InstantVNC normally,
and once it's running, right-click on the service-tray icon and select
auto-start at reboot That will lead you thru the service
 configuration steps.

The best Viewer to use with the InstantVNC binary is the 2.40a one

Please let me know if you see any problems, or have any suggestions.

Nice, thanks, but ...

did you ever tried to install it on a win server 2003 ?
Its an odyssey. Mainly installing, configuring and activating (run as

IMHO it is far away from the 2.35 installer and configuration.

Subject: [Echovnc-users] Viewer not creating an Echoserver tunnel??

Just downloaded and installed the latest EchoVNC package.

The Viewer works fine if I'm not trying to make a connection
 through an EchoServer tunnel.

When trying to make a connection through an Echoserver, it doesn't
work. The EchoVNC viewer says it's trying to connect to 127.0.0.1
port x (x, of course, being a random port number), and
then it launches the bundled UltraVNC viewer, which fails to
connect, and with EchoServer logging turned on, all I see is:

 [12/07/2011 09:30:42.603] InitializeProxyDll : initialize echoware
 dll v. 1.999.18

 Please help :)

 Thanks,
 Steve

We specifically chose to keep the echoware DLL file separate from
the binaries that use it, so that we can update one without updating
the other. The trick that InstantVNC uses is to (1) create a temp
folder (2) self-extract the .exe and the .dll into that temp folder,
then (3) shell-execute the .exe, which then loadLib's the .dll.

Since both echoWare and InstantVNC are open-source, I'm sure they
could be integrated into a singleflat .exe, I just never had a
 reason to do so.

[Echovnc-users] Solution for BUG: Allow EchoVNC to tunnel rdesktop greyed out

2009-11-01 Thread Christian
Hi,

This option can not be enabled even if
Policy Allow remote connections via Terminal services is enabled
Not enabling the policy and enabling manual via Workplace - Properties -
Remote - Allow Rdesktop
then EchoVNC Option could be enabled.
EchoVNC does not recognize Enabled Option when Rdesktop is anabled via
Win Policy
This should be fixed.

Kind Regards
Chris

[Echovnc-users] Found out why echoserver didn't run as service

2009-04-21 Thread Christian Bechter
EchoServer not startable as a service:
My fault, i used the prereleased beta 1.70 without real installation. I erased
it and installed the normal V1.65 and there it was - a working
echoserver-service, running after PC reboot.

Yeah! Sometimes a working solution is just the right click away.

Another question:
- Is there a way to initiate an RDP session without EchoVNC? I want to give a
client the possibility to connect to his audioserver via our Echoserver, but i
suppose EchoVNC is a little too technical for him. If there's some version of
EchoRDP around, i was really interested!!!
- Can i make a VPN connection somehow, using mirrorServer etc. and how could i
realize this?

[Echovnc-users] Stupid newby questions - echoserver performance, rdp without servermirror?

2009-04-20 Thread Christian Bechter
Hello

I'm new to EchoVNC and EchoServer and therefore some stupid questions (in
fact not these are but myself i suppose...)

- Do i need ServerMirror to connect to an rdp-Server or is it fully implemented
in EchoVNC?
- My Terminal-Servers are only XP Pro with Sala's Terminal patch, and on some
machines i can select the option Allow EchoVNC to tunnel Remote Desktop
connections, but not on all - all are patched XP pro machines.
- Is it possible to run rdp and EchoVNC sessions on the same machine? I want to
use EchoVNC to do remote administration in the admin's user account while rdp
shall connect to the rdp user accounts (the rdp users are used for home and
media control appliances running parallel to the admin which has to run in
background)
- our own echoserver is up, paid and running, although sometimes connections
aren't made immediately, and sometimes - like now - there are no connections
made at all (??). In our DSL-Router i forwarded port 1328 to the machine
which runs echoserver, servermirror, and teamviewer (my backup ;-) echoVNC
crashes quite often on remote machines and i can restart echovnc-service this
way)
- how do i make the server connect to the echoserver on reboot?
- i cannot start the echoserver as a service, there's only a stopped service
around which is busy creating error messages when i try to revive it. So it's
running in the admin account of my main machine now.

Hope this ain't too much for the beginning, i'm happy about every tip.

Thanks and greetings from Switzerland,

Christian
