I just tried out DigiPan with my KX2 for the first time earlier today.  
At first I thought it wasn't working because I couldn't decode any 
signals on PSK31.  Then I happened to stumble on a W1AW bulletin on 
RTTY.  Then they switched over to PSK31 and it decoded perfectly.


I guess the answer is that a lot of the signals on the air that sound 
like PSK31 are actually something else.


By the way, PSK31 is symmetrical in frequency so it doesn't matter 
whether you select LSB or USB.   That's why the Reverse function in 
DigiPan is disabled for PSK31.


When W1AW first switched from RTTY to PSK31, the KX2 was still in FSK 
mode with the narrow filter.  It decoded the PSK31 just fine. Then I 
switched to LSB and it continued to decode perfectly.

One of the joys of PSK31 is that the signals are symmetric, that 
is both USB and LSB will be able to decode the signal.


I'm not sure I can help further since I haven't tried to work 
PSK31 on a KX2 and I don't think I have any of the software you 
are using. (It probably won't run on my Mac.)


Can you decode signals using the internal PSK31 on the KX2? If 
that works, then you have decodable audio being sent to your computer.

for me with this radio.  I must have turned a knob, hit a key or some such

[Elecraft] KPA500 Remote Power on Question

I am controlling my KPA500 using the Remote software running through my
computer using the Local Host Option. I am doing the same with my KAT500
with that remote software too. The objective was to move both off my main
station table. I can turn the KAT500 on/off using the software. Is there a
way to turn the KPA500 off/on using the remote software too?

I have also noticed a change of several Hz in the beat note between the 
transceiver having been on for half an hour and having been on for three or 
four hours.  This seems odd behavior to me for a high stability, 1 ppm TCXO.  
The transceiver is in a room, with a temperature of 70, plus or minus, 3 
degrees Fahrenheit.  There is nothing on top of the transceiver and there is 
plenty of space below, behind and on either side of the radio.  There are no 
other heat sources near the transceiver.

Am I being overly critical, or do you think this is unusual behavior for a 
KTCXO3-1?

I posed this question to Elecraft tech support.  The reply did not address my 
question as to whether this KTCXO3-1 is misbehaving.  The reply only said that 
“We have no KTCXO3-1 and have no orders to restock at this time.”  The tech, 
who replied, also gave me sourcing information for, apparently, the oscillator 
part on the board.

Elecraft reported having problems with the TCXOs a while back.  Mine isn't very 
well behaved, either, but it stays within a few Hertz compared to WWV on 10 MHz.

I had the very same set up for a couple years, which was easy and worked 
fine with FT-8.  When I was having trouble with WinLink, another ham 
suggested a Signalink sound card would help, and he was right.  I now 
use the SignaLink with FT-8, with maybe better results, but it's hard to 
tell.


Anyway, the SignaLink Web site says to change the name of the radio in 
settings in FT-8 from KX-3 to , but I'm not sure why.  All  works 
fine either way, except I lose CAT control, so have to change the 
frequency on the KX-3 manually when I change bands. Any thoughts?

I did very little to set up FT modes on my KX3. Got a cheap USB sound card
with a line in jack. Use 2 stereo audio cables with 3.5 mm plugs at each
end. One from phones jack on KX3 to line in on sound card, Other cable goes
from mic connector on KX3 to speaker jack of sound card. Set mode to Data,
set submode to Data A. Using WSJT-X there is a rig selection for Elecraft
KX3. I set it up for CAT PTT if I remember correctly. Once you have the rig

sound card similarly. Then using the Tune button in WSJT-X adjust the

to your sound card for a reasonable level on the waterfall display.
